Author's Note: Just a small moment between Harry and Ginny has they sit in the back of a Ministry car as they head back to school in book five. It took me about twenty minutes to write. eNJOY!
Down and Free
Harryfelt disoriented as he watched the scenery move rapidly behind Ginny, but even as the sight continued to change from open fields to forest to riverbed, back to fields he noticed that she remained the same.
She looked at him and smiled shyly as she caught him watching her. She placed the loose locks of hair that had fallen out of her loose ponytail self consciously. When it fell back into her face, her cheeks became a shade darker and she decided to pull out the hair tie and try to put her hair back tighter.
Before he could stop himself, he had grabbed her wrist and said honestly "I like it when your hair is down and free."
She turned her head away from him, her earrings jingling as she moved. Then she turned back and smiled at him and he felt his heart react. She looked down at her wrist, he was still holding it.
He gave it a little squeeze, let go, and settled back into his side of te car looking guilty, but of what he isn't sure. He takes off his glasses and wipes them on the hem of his sleeve.
The car pulls into the drop-off section of King's Cross and the passengers file out. Ginny smiles at him and shakes her hair wildly and it blazes fiery red. Harry grins and feels his heart react again as his stares at her hair landing affectionately around her face.
"Oh! Hurry it up you two. We haven't much time." Mrs. Weasley came around to her only daughter and made Fred help carry his sister's trunk, leaving George to help with Harry's.
Harry and Ginny heave their trunks onto a trolley each with a secret smile on their face.
