The Best Day Ever
Harry sat slumply on a red cushioned chair holding up a letter that his owl, Hedwig, had just dropped.
Hedwig sat perched in his golden colored cage, waiting patiently for Harry to finish reading the letter. Hedwig was such a good bird. Every year, when Harry was going to Hogwarts, he would bring the white owl to the Weaslie's. The wonderful memories, especially when Harry and Hedwig had first met.
The letter moved with his shaking hands as he tried to concentrate on the neatly printed writing on the off-white paper. Finally, he had put the paper down and stood up from the comfortable chair and walked to the portrait that hung on the other side of the wall.
Before Harry had even made it several feet away from the portrait, a soft whisper-like sound from the other side. All of a sudden the portrait had opened and the whispering sound was gone.
"Oh…h-hello Harry…" Ginny said shyly.
Harry nodded, "Hey Ginny. Have you seen Ron or Hermione?"
"Sorry, Harry. I haven't." Ginny answered quickly.
Harry smiled at Ginny, "I'm sure I'll find them."
"Yeah, knowing Ron, he's probably in the library playing wizard's chess."
"And Hermione must be there too, except she would be studying."
Harry and Ginny shared a glance with eachother and both blushed slightly. Ginny smiled one last time at Harry before brushing past him and into the dorm area.
"Oh, Harry."
"Yes Ginny…"
"Will…you…uh…" Ginny started to say, but mentally scolded herself for not saying it straight out.
'I wonder what she's trying to ask…" Harry thought to himself.
"N-never mind." Ginny finally said, "I-it's not important."
Ginny started to walk away, but was stopped when a firm hand gripped her wrist. Ginny turned around and faced Harry. He smiled slightly and brushed a strand of hair behind her ears.
"Ginny…will you go out with me?" Harry had asked.
Ginny looked at Harry in pure happiness (He was asking her out after all). Ginny didn't know what to say. She stared at him for the longest of time before realizing that he was still waiting for an answer.
"Y-yes…" Ginny finally said.
Harry smiled and Ginny looked to the ground blushing. Harry placed a finger under her chin and lifted her head up so that their eyes met. Not too long after, Harry had moved closer to Ginny and lightly kissed her on her lips.
"I better go. Hermione and Ron are probably wondering where I am."
Ginny nodded, her face as red as a cherry (not literally) from her bashfulness. Harry turned around and started walking away. He took one last look at Ginny, before he had disappeared completely out of sight.
Ginny stood still smiling. Two of her fingers were touching her lips softly, not wanting to forget how his lips felt against hers.
'Today was the best day ever.' Ginny thought.
Finished
