It's been 4 and a half months since Kelly Severide came to visit me in New York, see Kelly and I have been best friends since we were four. He and Andy Darden and I were inseparable. Then we went to the fire academy together and met Casey and shay. The five of us were best friends. When Andy died it left a wedge between Casey and Severide but brought him and me closer together.
We never worked at the same firehouse and five years ago I got recruited for a Lieutenants spot on a squad in New York so I moved. Kelly and I stayed together and were still strong. Kelly and I haven't always been together. We were together in high school then not again until 8 years ago.
This time when Kelly came to visit me I got pregnant. He doesn't know yet. We are still together, but I've been distant.
My dad Rick Evans who is best friends with Benny Severide has asked to see me for lunch today. He flew to New York to see me so I can just imagine what this is about.
I walk into the diner and find dad and Benny in a booth waiting for me.
"Hey dad, Benny, I didn't realize you were both in New York," I say
"Darcy, we need to talk to you," Dad says, cutting right to the chase, like he always does.
"Oh?" I ask
"You need to tell Kelly that you're pregnant, and you need to come home Darcy," Dad says
"I know my son, and he will love that baby and step up and be the man you deserve and the father that baby deserves," Benny tells me and I sigh.
"I know, I'm scared though, where will I work after the baby is born? I have a great job here and it's not fair to ask Kelly to drop everything and move here." I say
"That's why we have gotten you a spot on squad 3 for after the baby is born. Kelly doesn't know but Chief does but doesn't know your guys' connection." Dad says
I sigh and nod. "Fine, I'll come home, I'll talk to him at least," I say
They both nod and we eat.

About three weeks after my talk with dad and Benny I moved back to Chicago, I'm staying with my sister until I figure everything out.
I walk up to firehouse 51, this place is so familiar, dad and Benny were both on squad when we were kids.
I walk into the apparatus floor and run my hand over the squad logo.
This is where I belong. I know that I just hope Kelly thinks so too.
Just then a man comes over and asks "can I help you?"
"Yeah, I'm looking for Lieutenant Kelly Severide," I say just then I hear an Oh so familiar voice.
"Darcy Evans as I live and breathe," Shay says, coming over and engulfing me in a huge hug.
"Hi, Shay," I say as I hug her back.
"What are you doing here?" She asks
"Looking for Kelly," I say.
"Well he's in the common room, let's go." She says and drags me to the familiar room.
"Look who I found out on the apparatus floor," Shay says and Kelly and Matt look up with big smiles on their faces and come over to me. Matt hugs me first and says "good to see you Darcy, New York getting too boring?" "Sorta." I say then Kelly comes over to me and hugs me then kisses me tenderly on the lips then says "Hello gorgeous, what do I owe this visit to?" He asks as theirs gasps around the room.
"I needed to see you and talk to you about something," I say smiling as I look into his blue eyes with my green ones.
"Okay, well first I'd like to introduce you to everyone," Kelly says and I nod.
"Everyone, this is my girlfriend Darcy Evans. We have been together for 8 years now?" He asks and I nod.
"Nice to meet you in Hermann," Herman says, coming over and shaking my hand.
"Nice to meet you all," I say
"So how do you know Severide, Casey, and Shay?" A man asks
"Otis Darcy and Andy and I were best friends since we were four then we met Casey and Shay at the academy Darcy was at a different house up until five years ago when she went to New York to be a Lieutenant on a squad, we stayed together though," Kelly says and I smile at him.
"Oh wow," Otis says.
After a bit, Kelly takes me to his quarters so we can talk.
"So what's up babe?" Kelly asks as he closes the door behind him.
"I'm pregnant Kelly, 5 months along. I'm 18 weeks pregnant." I tell him and I see shock then the happiness all in a matter of seconds.
"Really?" He asks, putting his hand on my midsection that's starting to get a bump.
"Yea, I was scared to tell you but then dad and Benny came and talked sense into me and I decided to come and tell you I understand and if you don't want this but I'm keeping the baby." I say and he kisses me passionately, then says "I'm beyond happy and I want this." He says and I smile and kiss him again.
"So are you gonna move here?" He asks and I nod.
"I'm currently with my sister, Carly for now." I tell him he nods at this, then says "stay with Shay and we'll find a house for you, me and this baby." He says. I smile, I'm so happy.
"Okay, I love you, Kelly," I told him.
He brushes a piece of my brunette hair out of my face and kisses me then says "I love you too."

I stayed at the firehouse for a bit, and we told everyone that we were pregnant. And they were ecstatic. Chief was happy for Kelly and I, he realized who I was and that he saw my name on papers that went across his desk about a potential spot on squad 3. He said now that he knows who I am he'll tell HQ that I have a spot on the squad. Shay was especially happy, since she said she had a niece or nephew to spoil. we all chuckled at that.
I go to get up and leave, I say goodbye to everyone and Kelly follows me out to the apparatus floor where we find Chief boden.
"Ahh you're still here, good. I just got your transfer papers for after the baby is born, but you can always work in the bullpen with Kylie if you want to, until your doctor says your cant." Chief Boden offers.
"Oh, that would be wonderful, thanks Chief Boden, I'd love to work in the bullpen." I told the Chief.
"Okay good to hear, you start on the next shift." Boden says and I nod saying "thanks, I'll be here."
Boden goes to his office and Kelly spins me to him.
"So you'll be working here now." Kelly states and I nod my head saying "guess I am!" "Well I'm glad that way I can make sure u and the baby are safe." Kelly says, then he kisses me.
"I'm happy you are home." He tells me.
"Me too." I say.
Then he pulls a key out of his pocket and says "this is a spare key to mine and shay's place go over make yourself at home. There's not a ton to eat but we will go and pick up some stuff when I get off in the morning. I love you and I want you to be happy with your choice of moving back."
"Thanks kel, I am happy, I love you too, and I appreciate you letting me stay with you and shay, does shay mind?" I say and ask.
"No she doesn't, she's thrilled actually. I'm happy we are taking this next step, we will start looking for houses when I get off shift." Kelly tells me just as the bells go off.
He groans then kisses me, saying "I love you see you in the morning, take care of you and the little one."
Kelly races to the squad as I tell him "love you to, be careful see you in the morning." I told him.
The rigs race out of the bay doors and I wave to Matt and shay as well as Kelly. Man I missed seeing them all. I also miss the action, I miss being on calls, but I know I'll be back out there before I know it.
I run by my sisters and grab a few things, then I go to Kellys and shays apartment, I let myself in, it's still as messy as I remember it from last time I visited, which was for the fourth of July since we all had it off for once.
I through my bag in on kellys bed, then I go to look for food..

Kellys POV
We get back to 51 after a nasty house call when I get a text from Darcy.
Darcy: just wanted to let you know I went and grabbed a bag of my stuff and am currently binge watching grey's anatomy and eating Thai food in your tshirt on your couch.
I chuckle out loud at the goofy selfie she sends with her tongue sticking out and her auburn hair in a messy bun, her green eyes bright. Man, I love this woman so much.
I quickly reply with
Man I love you, glad your at our home now. We will bring the rest of your stuff over tomorrow I'll recruit some guys.
I finish getting out of my turn out gear when my phone goes off again.
Darcy: are you sure? I don't want to bother anyone.
I sigh and quickly reply with
You're not bothering anyone, this place is a family, just like it was when our fathers were here.
I walk in to the common room where everything goes quite all of a sudden.
"What are you guys gossiping about now?" I ask as I pour a cup of coffee and sit next to Casey who's reading over reports.
"Their talking about you and Darcy, it's quite interesting their theories as well." Casey says
"You haven't set them straight yet?" I asked with a raised eyebrow as I take a sip of coffee then added "you're almost as protective of darce as I am." I say which is true.
"I was just about to when I da you finally come in, you talking to her? How is she?" Casey asked, making me laugh.
"You just saw her." I state.
"I know, I meant with being back." Casey says
"Good, I think she's binge watching greys anatomy and shays and my place right now, I gave her the spare key, she's nervous how I'm doing with the whole pregnancy thing." I say, then I realize we have an audience.
"Okay what do you guys want to know?" I ask
"Did she really known Daren?" Otis is the first to ask.
"Yes she did, Darden, Darcy and I were best friends since we were four Benny and Darcy's dad Rick Evans are best friends since before we were born but our first memory of being friends is when we were four." I tell Otis.
"Why have you never mentioned you were in a relationship?" Cruz asks
"Why haven't we ever met her?" Mouch asks
"You never knew I was in a relationship because we got back together 8 years ago, which was just before Andy died, so yea sorry I didn't go telling everyone, we were both grieving, then everyone thought I was still a lady's man by this point Darcy was getting ready to move to New York so I didn't bother. She's my everything, has been really since high school." I tell everyone
"Casey you've known about severide and this girl for this long and never told us?" Herman asks
"Wasn't my place to." Casey simply says as shay joins us at the long table.
"These bone heads still trying to figure out how you kept Darcy a secret for so long?" Shay asks
"Yes!" Everyone says
"Honestly I don't know how you guys didn't see it, it's not like Kelly never brought her around before she left or when she visited. And didn't anybody think it was odd how Kelly took two weeks off every may for the last 5 years? The man who can't even stay home when he has been hurt?" Shay says
"Wait I thought she looked familiar she's been at Molly's before!" Herman says
"Why do you take the two weeks off in may?" Mouch asks
"Yes she's been to Molly's Herman, and because may 18th is our anniversary, we have never been apart for it so I book off two weeks every year for it and go to New York for those two weeks. Before she moved I still booked our anniversary off. It just wasn't as noticeable as it has been since she moved." I say
"That makes so much sense." Mouch says
Just then Sylvie comes in.
"How did Sylvie never know that Casey's best friend had a girlfriend and how didn't she know about Darcy since matt is apparently such good friends with her." Mouch says
"I did know about Darcy I've meet her two years ago we talk quite a bit." Sylvie says
"What the one that can't keep a secret finally kept a secret?" Cruz asks as Sylvie playfully glares at him.
"Yes Joe I did." Sylvie says
"Anyway I want to know your answer to Casey's question about how you're doing about her being pregnant, but more importantly I want to know how she is, after everything." Shay says
"She seems to be better than I expected, but we haven't had a lot of time to talk about it. Also I'm great, I couldn't be happier. Am I concerned, absolutely, but I'm so excited for this next chapter." I say
"Your not afaird that she'll miscarriage again?" Shay asks, with raised eyebrows.
"Wait you guys have been pregnant before?" Mouch asks.
"Thanks shay." I growl. She's looks apologetic though which doesn't really help calm my anger.
"Yes, 6 years ago." I say and go to get up, I go to the locker room where Herman finds me.
"Herman I'm not in the mood." I growl.
"Listen severide, I just wanted to let you know I know what that's like and I couldn't imagine having in broadcasted in the middle of the common room. I'm sorry for your loss." Herman says and sees what I'm holding.
"Is that your little one you're having now?" Herman asks. I shake my head "no"
"No it was our first baby, I keep the ultrasound picture in the back of my locker for days I need it." I say.
"Oh I'm sorry." Herman says patting me on the back as matt and shay come into the locker room.
"Kel, I'm sorry." Shay says sitting beside me as Herman goes to leave.
"Hey thanks Herman. I appreciate you telling me what you did." I tell the older man.
"No problem." He says then leaves.
"Shay you shouldn't of said anything it wasn't your place, now everyone's going to look at her with sympathy for something that happened six years ago." I yell, I hate yelling at Shay but she deserves it this time.
"I know I'm sorry." Shay says and I see the tears and I hate it when either shay or Darcy cry's and they both know it.
"I pulled rank and made sure no ones to say anything to Darcy." Casey says.
"Thanks man appreciate it." I say "It's no problem." Casey says
"Shay I'm sorry for yelling at you I know you didn't think I'm sorry for losing my temper." I say
"It's okay, I should have thought about it I am truly sorry." Shay says hugging me.
"No worries if Casey didn't shut them up I bet Herman has." I say
They both look at me oddly as the bells go off.
