All the kids ran out to the playground. Pam ran over to where Kelly and Phyllis were talking.

"Hey, guys!" Pam said.

"Hi, Pam," Phyllis said.

"Did you hear what happened to Todd?" Kelly said excitedly. "I heard he got expelled from school!"

"Expelled!" Pam said. "What did he do?"

"Well," Phyllis said. "That's the thing. We don't know. Kelly and I were going to be detectives and find out! Want to join us?"

"Sure! That sounds fun!" They all hurried off to try to get information out of people. Pam grabbed her little notebook to write down the clues. "Ok, let's interview Oscar first."

They found Oscar at the monkey bars.

"Hey Oscar!" Kelly called. "Did you hear what happened to Todd?"

Oscar jumped down from off the top of the monkey bars. They were all impressed by how Oscar was so good at climbing. "No, what happened?"

Kelly explained all they knew so far.

"Hmm, well, I was waiting for my friend Matt so tell me what happened when we get back to the classroom."

"Ok!" The next person was Angela. According to Kelly, Angela was mean but had really good gossip. And, since Pam was new, Angela might be willing to share some of it. But, when it came to finding Angela, she was nowhere to be found.

"Yesterday I saw her in the field," Phyllis offered.

"Alright, let's go then," Kelly said. At the edge of the field, there was a large tree and Kelly could see feet on the other side. "Hey! Shh!" She said. Pam and Phyllis quieted down and turned to look also. It was Dwight and Angela! And they were holding hands! Angela was turning to see if anyone was there, so Kelly took Pam and Phyllis' hands and ran off for the playground. They didn't stop until they were safe and sound by the school wall. They all caught their breath before laughing.

"I can't believe they didn't see us!" Phyllis exclaimed.

"Yeah me too!" Pam laughed.

"Did you see them!" Kelly giggled. "They were holding hands! I can't believe it!"

"What should we do?" Pam asked.

"Let's keep it a secret," Kelly said mischievously. "So we can use it to blackmail Angela to tell us her secrets!"

"What does blackmail mean?" Phyllis and Pam said together.

"It doesn't matter. What matters is that they were holding hands!"

The teachers herded the classes inside to eat lunch and Kelly looked over at Dwight and Angela eating lunch together. They were in love!
