Michael herded his class together on the carpet.
"Okay, Jan is coming today to inspect our class. You must be on your best behavior. While she is here, you guys will be working on a poster with your table groups. Each of your groups are going to be assigned a class rule that you will make the poster for. Understood?"
Everyone nodded.
"Ok, group one will have 'be respectful to others and school property'. Group two will have 'raise your hand when wanting to speak'. Group three will have 'keep your hands to your self'. Group four will have 'listen while others are talking'. Group five will have 'stay on task and work when directed to'. Ok, now come pick up a poster and get to work. You can make it however you want. Any questions?"
Kevin raised his hand. "Is it true you kissed Ms. Levinson?"
"What? No! Where'd you hear that?" He said smiling slightly and his cheeks turning bright pink. He also gave a threatening look towards Pam.
"I heard it from Kelly," Kevin said simply. Pam looked down nervously at her paper.
Dwight raised his hand. "I told them, Mr. Scott. I have really good hearing you know."
"Well, that's good for you. Fine. I did. But you must NOT mention it in front of Ms. Levinson."
The whole class nodded vigorously and Pam gave a sideways smile towards Dwight.
The class had started on their posters and all glanced up when Ms. Levinson walked through the doorway. Jim, Pam, and Dwight looked back down at their poster.
"Okay, I think Pam should do most of the work," Jim said. Pam glared at him and laughed.
"What?" He said accusingly. "Your the best artist. Ok, how about Dwight writes because he has ok handwriting and you draw."
"Fine," Pam said and her and Dwight got to work.
"Thanks for not calling me out," Pam said to Dwight.
Dwight shrugged. "You would be a good friend if you weren't best friends with my enemy. The friends of my enemy are therefore my enemy. But I would be willing to help them occasionally."
Pam glanced at Jim and Jim stifled his laughter.
"Ok, well that will work," Pam said. Ms. Levinson walked towards their table.
"Hello, what are your names."
"I'm Jim, and that is Pam and that is Dwight," He said charmingly.
"Nice to meet you guys. I just have to ask you a few questions."
The three of them nodded.
"Ok, what do you think of Mr. Scott as a teacher?"
"He's very nice," Pam said. "I feel like he wants to be friends with all of us."
"Yeah," Jim agreed. "He's not very strict, but just enough. We're only on the second week and I've learned some stuff."
Dwight too nodded. "He is someone to look up to. Like a roll model."
Jan nodded impressed. "Well, that's great news. I'm going to go around and ask more questions, but he sounds like a great teacher."
"He is." Pam said. Ms. Levinson walked away and they all high-fived.
"Did you guys really mean all those things?" Jim asked.
Dwight shrugged. "I don't really know, but I'm not going to say something mean about my teacher." Jim and Pam nodded in agreement. The whole class was quiet, so the three of them looked to where Ms. Levinson was heading. They may have been "enemies" but Mr. Scott's job was on the line. Well, not really, but that's what it felt like. To their demise, she ws approaching table 2; Oscar, Kevin, and Angela. Oscar was whispering something to Kevin and the whole class held their breath as they secretly watched probably the uncovering of the secret.
Oscar did most of the answering, but everyone could tell Kevin was wanting to say something. Michael was watching it go down out of the corner of his eye.
"Anymore questions?" Jan asked.
"Did you kiss Mr. Scott?" Kevin asked simply.
"Wha-what?" Jan stammered. All of the class let out their breath. "Michael, my office, after school." She stalked out of the classroom and everyone looked at Michael to say something.
"This is good!" He said. "Maybe she'll say how much she loves me!"
Angela rolled her eyes, but no one said anything.
"Ok class, schools out. We will finish the posters tomorrow."
Michael pranced down to the principal's office and found Jan sitting there.
"Michael! Why'd you tell your 4th grade class we kissed!" She said exasperated.
"It just sort of slipped out," He said. "Jan, I love you."
Jan rolled her eyes. "Michael your and idiot. Just, please leave."
We're so in love! Michael thought to himself as he walked out to his car. She is the woman whom I will marry.
