AN: SPOILERS FOR SERIES 13 FLUX – "Village of the Angels". Written for the "companion" prompt from 100words on Dreamwidth. Characters: 13th Doctor, Claire. Rated T. 100 word drabble.

Dry

Her mouth is dry.

She's not alone. Inside her mind is the cold grip of the angel, imprisoned within a dead space quarry in forgotten time.

"Claire…" The angel's power hooks onto her insides. She doesn't blink, lest her dry eyes turn to stone.

Her tears crackle against her cheeks like dust. She screams a silent gasp into the void.

A gentle whisper caresses her mind. "I'll save you." A trickle of hope, spurring that fight that's left inside her.

The Doctor's touch, a lover's embrace, is warm and dizzying.

But the angel burrows deeply. The Doctor is too late.
