CHAPTER 1: HERE COME THE SPUDS!

Ox and Matt were walking to their next class. Both were talking about their upcoming double date with their girlfriends, Patty and Sidney, respectively. They planned on going to the movies and then a bite to eat at Joe's Café, afterwards. Ox, in particular, was in a good mood.

"So, what movie should we bring the girls to?" asked Ox.

"I think that new Ray Raymondson movie is out now," Matt replied. "I heard it's going to be a blockbuster."

"Sounds like fun." Ox had made it to his locker. After putting in the combination and opening it, a bunch of potatoes began to spill out. Ox's good mood disappeared completely.

"What the hell?!" he fumed.

"Why were all these potatoes in your locker, Ox?" asked Matt.

"It's the fifth time this happened this week!" growled Ox. "Everyone knows how much I hate potatoes, due to me being from Idaho originally, and some jerkwad is taking advantage of it!"

"Why would anyone do something so stupid like that?"

"To get under my skin, Matt. And it's working!" Patty and Sidney walked up to their boyfriends.

"Hey, you two," greeted Sidney, kissing Matt.

"Hi, Oxie," said Patty, kissing Ox on the cheek. She noticed he was upset. "What's wrong, baby?"

"Somebody shoved his locker full of potatoes, knowing he hates them," said Matt.

"Again?!" gasped Patty.

"Yeah, they did," sighed a still-upset Ox. "I wish I knew who was doing this."

"Why not ask Olaf for help?' suggested Matt. "Snoopy is his brother, and you know Snoopy likes to be a detective from time to time."

"I could talk to Charlie Brown about Snoopy finding the culprit," said Patty.

"I'm willing to do anything at this point," said Ox. "I'll ask Olaf if his brother can help find the guy." And after the janitor came around to help clean up the potatoes, the kids went to class.

Later, Olaf was at Snoopy's house talking to him about the "Potato Incident" to his brother. Snoopy didn't know what to make of this crazy prank on Ox.

"And he opened the locker and all of these potatoes came coming out?" asked Snoopy.

"It did, brother," said Olaf. "My owner is really upset. Could you help him out, for me?"

"Usually I would charge something like an extra supper, but because you're my brother, I'll do it for nothing. Tell your owner I will start my investigation tomorrow."

Inside the Brown's house, Charlie Brown was on the phone with Lucy telling her about Snoopy's investigation and not to toss him out like she would usually do.

"So he will be in disguise as a detective, Lucy," said Charlie Brown over the phone. "Just let him do his investigating for Ox and once he finds out who's planting the potatoes in his locker, then he'll leave."

"All right, Charlie Brown, I'll leave the beagle alone," said Lucy. "That is, provided he doesn't try to kiss me like he usually does, then I won't be held responsible for my actions."

"I'll tell him not to kiss you, no matter how tempted he becomes. Deal?"

"Deal!"

"Cool. Anyway, are you and Schroeder still coming over for game night on Saturday?"

"We sure are! I can't wait to beat the pants off of you in a round of Monopoly!"

"I have been getting better, Lucy. I may get Park Place and Boardwalk, myself."

"We'll see, Charlie Brown. We will see."

"Linus and Eudora are coming too, right?"

"They are. Anyway, I need to get to my homework. Talk to you later, Charlie Brown."

"See ya, Lucy."
