Katarina linked her pinkie with her twin brother's and gazed at him. A light blush blossomed in her cheeks. He looked back at her with a strange expression until his lips curled into a gentle and open smile.
She stared into his eyes. Something about the way he looked at her this way made her heart bump-ba-bump in her chest! Not even Jeord was able to do this to her! And she felt like invisible bubbles were rising in her chest trying to buoy her away on the slight breeze.
With a sigh of satisfaction, she looked out at the sunset again. It was just the two of them on the roof of the tiny shack he build to store his farming tools. Ever since Jeord had (kind of) rejected her, she knew this by his look towards her whenever he comes to meet her. This had become a nightly thing with them. He would crawl out onto the roof to watch the sunset and she would wordlessly join him. Not a single word was exchanged between them ever during these times. But the last few nights Katarina, had gotten into the habit of grasping Katrina's hand or linking fingers with him. And every time he would just give her this look. A look she realized she couldn't get enough of and she wasn't sure why.
Katrina's heart beat hard in his chest as he felt his sister's pinkie finger touch his. It felt like sparks or some kind of electricity was coming from the spot where her skin brushed against his. He wrapped himself in the feeling like a warm blanket and let out a long deep breath.
As he turned to her, like he had the past few nights, he wasn't able to hide his desire for her for a few moments until he mastered himself and simply smiled; letting affection for his(supposed) villainous twin sister wash over him again like a wave.
Continuing to stare at her, he felt a slight blush grow in his cheeks but he didn't look away. Instead, he simply let out a long sigh of happiness and his lips twitched into a larger grin. His sister looked away to admire the color of the sky. But was far more caught up with simply staring at the beauty before him. His eyes drifted to her lips and he gawked openly at them, his tongue darting out to lick his own. He wanted to taste them.
But before she could notice his staring, he gazed out ahead again, his cheeks a deep red.
He doesn't know why she got reincarnated as Katarina's non-existent twin brother when she died, but he promised himself to protect her from her Bad End.
And so the two twins sat there enjoying the scenery but more so each other's silent company. Just to be there with the other was exciting and slightly confusing but neither of them denied to themselves that something was happening and nothing in the world could stop it.
For the record though, neither of them wanted it to ever stop.
