"I wouldn't have left you," I say.
Sakura doesn't turn around to look at me. I think she's afraid of what she'll see in my eyes. I know I'm afraid of what I won't see in hers.
Because if you suspect something, but don't actually see it, you can easily believe it's not true.
Still, the urge to wrap my arms around her waist, pull her flush against my body is strong.
She finally speaks.
"Don't do this to me, Ino." I close my eyes before she can whirl to face me.
I don't want to see her say no.
