Comfortember Day Twenty: Blanket Fort

Peter waltzed into the Tower and headed straight to the lab only to find out that Tony was not in there. That was weird. Tony was always in the lab when Peter went to the Tower after school. There was no sign that Tony had been down there at all. Peter went back to the elevator and went to the kitchen upstairs.

When in doubt, go to the kitchen. That's where the coffee was and Tony was a coffee addict.

Much to Peter's never ending surprise, Tony wasn't drinking coffee in the kitchen either. As a matter of fact, there was nothing in the coffee maker at all. It almost looked as if it was untouched. That was unheard of in this household (Tower hold?). Something was really wrong and Peter's worry was starting to shoot through the roof.

"FRIDAY, where is Mister Stark?" Peter asked.

"Boss is currently in a meeting."

Peter frowned. "Really? I thought Miss Potts handled all those."

"Boss needs to attend some meetings as well."

"I guess that makes sense." Peter shrugged. "So, I worried for no reason?"

"Yes, Peter."

She was so blunt Peter couldn't help but laugh. Though he was a bit wary.

"When will he be back?" Peter took an orange and headed into the living room.

"Two hours."

"So long," Peter sighed with a pout. "Oh well. I can keep myself busy."

The question was, what could he do? There was a lot but most of it were things he didn't really want to do. Hm.

Then Peter snapped his fingers and a mischievous smile came to his face. He had the perfect thing.

Tony sighed a year's worth of sighs. He hated meetings. He hated meetings without Pepper even more. He hated the annoying looks the people in the meetings gave him. Tony wasn't Mister Manners, but even he managed to hold back annoyed looks and tones. All he asked was a little break.

The whole day was nothing but meetings and Tony barely had time to have coffee breaks. Maybe his day would've been a little better if he could manage that. Or just five minutes of privacy and not being around people.

Tony Stark was done.

He just wanted to go to bed and not wake up for hours and hours and hours. However, on his way down to the elevator FRIDAY told him that Peter was waiting for him in the living room. That was fine. If he was being honest, he forgot it was lab day. Or maybe the kid just wanted to drop by.

Tony made himself a cup of coffee, finally, and waited for a minute before going into the living room. He wanted to be prepared for Peter Parker, the energetic chatterbox. He stopped at the living room entrance.

"What the…"

Tony stared, dumbfounded at what was once his living room.

It was like Attack of the Blankets. Blankets were set up here and there at different heights with the help of Tony's furniture. All the furniture was in completely different spots. Some furniture was even brought in from other rooms from what he could tell.

The next thing he knew, Peter Parker hopped out of the entrance of his Blanket Palace. His hair was ruffled and he had a big smile.

"Hey, what's up, Mister Stark?" Peter said, casually.

Tony waved his hand all around the room. "What happened to my living room?"

"I made a blanket fort!"

"Blanket fort? More like a Blanket palace. Look at this. It's almost covering up the whole room."

"Yeah, so?" Peter said, tilting his head. "Your living room is huge. And, Mister Stark, did you even know you had so many blankets? I didn't! Like...how many closets do you have?"

"A lot," Tony deadpanned.

"Exactly! And all these blankets were just...around...so I thought, 'hey! Let's do something fun!' and this is what happened."

"Uh-huh."

"Besides, I needed something to do while I waited for you," Peter said. "This was really fun, Mister Stark."

Tony took a sip of his coffee. Peter looked at him expectantly, not that Tony knew what exactly he was supposed to say. Peter sighed.

"You aren't mad, are you?"

Tony shook his head. "No. I just didn't expect to walk into my living room after a day full of meetings to see a blanket palace."

"Nonstop meetings, huh? Sounds like you need a break," Peter said, casually.

"Yeah, I do." Tony shrugged.

Peter gestured to his palace with a bright smile. "Then what I made is perfect! This is a good way to relax. Come in, come in."

Peter walked over to where the entrance of his palace was and lifted the corner of the blanket. He waved Tony to walk in. Tony hesitantly walked forward and looked inside. His brows raised. He was pretty impressed.

The inside of the blanket palace was pretty spacious. Pillows lined the 'walls' and there were a couple blankets stacked on the floor probably to act as a sort of mattress. Tony glanced at Peter who stood proud.

"How long did it take you to create this?" he asked.

"Two hours."

"You did this in just two hours?" Tony asked, skeptically.

"Yeah! Like I said, I needed something to do while I waited for you. I thought this would be fun and it was."

Tony took a long sip of his coffee. The kid could work hard and fast when he wanted to. It was pretty amazing.

"Good work, kiddo."

"You think so?" Peter beamed.

"Yeah. It is impressive." Tony smiled.

"Good because I worked hard," Peter said, puffing out his chest. He patted Tony's shoulder. "Now go in and lie down. We can watch some movies."

Tony almost wanted to object, not sure what this would do to his back. Then he shook his head to get rid of the thought. The palace looked comfy enough. It would be better than stressing out and he didn't want to disappoint the kid by not going in.

"Sure."

Tony downed the rest of his coffee and put it on the TV stand. Peter already crawled inside and lied down on his stomach, facing the TV. He took a pillow and put it under his chin. Tony wondered how the kid found that comfortable.

Tony ducked and carefully moved around on his hands and knees to not knock over all of Peter's hard work. He also took a pillow but placed it under his chest instead. He found it a little harder to get comfortable than how Peter managed but he got there eventually.

And that was how he spent the rest of his day. Inside a blanket palace with his kid and watching movies.

Author's Note: I had fun writing this one. I was originally gonna do it at night but changed my mind and had it take place in the day time instead. Seriously, imagine coming to your living room after meetings just to see blankets everywhere lmao.

Also thanks to Radiant Arabian Nights for the kind words.

That's all for now. I'll see ya'll in the next chapter.

Thanks for reading!
