It was finally the day. With the dedicated assistance of the Riddle house elves all of their belongings had been packed up, organised and prepared with their transportation to their new home and Aldwyn was both anticipating the chance and dreading it. It had taken Aldwyn a while to get comfortable with the idea of having a permanent home and sometimes he still thinks that his Father and Papa were going to get sick of him one day and give him up. He has become used to having his own family, one who loves him and cares for him unconditionally; people who would become upset and angry if he got hurt or was put in danger, people who worried about him. It was nice.
He can't. He doesn't want it to stop, for it to disappear from his grasp. He doesn't wish for the warm, fuzzy feeling in his chest to stop whenever Severus insisted on him drinking his nutrition potion every day; nor can he help the blush which dusts his cheeks whenever his Father gives him praise for his vast mental, physical and emotional improvements as he becomes more comfortable in his own skin.
His mind recalls the conversation he held with his parents about their departure from Riddle Manor and although he is sad to say goodbye to his first home he is also excited to catch his first glimpse of his permanent home; they home he will be allowed to come to during the holidays at school. The home where he will always be welcome. He finds himself disappointed that he hadn't been able to begin some of his extra tutoring session yet, even though Bill and Charlie had taken to answering all his questions about their relative subjects.
A smile comes to his face, happy that his Father had decided to allow him some time to get to know the eldest Weasley brothers beforehand. He had come to see them as invaluable parts of his extended family and loved having them around; he always loved teasing the pair. One of his favourite past times was telling both Bill and Charlie that them to their brother causing many playful arguments and rough housing to transpire between the two. He was even beginning to see them as older brother figures even if not by blood much to their delight.
Aldwyn stands between his parents, nervous causing his hands to sweat as he takes deep calming breaths trying to still his churning stomach at the feeling of side-along apparition. Feeling his insides settling, Aldwyn raises his head, eyes widening as they flicker around the large, lustrous entrance hall of his Father's ancestral home, Slytherin Mansion. He finds himself awestruck, rooted to the floor at the intricate details and surprising colour scheme scattered around the vast open space. Obviously, a lot of time had been spent planning, designing and building such an exquisite building.
Large, black ebony doors stand proudly behind the three wizards warding off any unwanted visitors who would otherwise be tempted to approach such an impressive Mansion. Aldwyn allows his eyes to trail up the frames spying the Slytherin Family crest and coat of arms carved delicately into the thick wood proudly on display in the centre of each door. Turning back to the entrance hall itself, Aldwyn notes that it is layered quite skilfully with dark wooden floorboards which he can feel are surprisingly soft underfoot. He wonders if there has been an extensive cushioning charm placed on the floor as he slowly walks forward.
Avada green eyes gaze over towards the left of the room and widen in astonishment when he catches sight of a large white marble fireplace standing at about five feet tall, small trinkets and magical artefacts being displayed smartly across its surface. A large mirror hangs regally upon the wall mere inches above the fireplace, silver frame adorning the glass, engravings in Slytherin green swirl through the metal intwining around the perimeter. To his right stands a large Victorian styled Grandfather clock snakes of varying breeds, colours and sizes can be seen, and heard he is pleased to note, slithering up and down the body, almost silent hisses playing music in Aldwyn's ears. He smiles softly at the small magical carvings, watching them for a few seconds until something in his peripheral vision catches his eye. Along the wall, just a small ways down from the front door is a large mobbing picture.
Cautiously, Aldwyn makes his way down the room, ensuring to keep his steps as silent as possible as he keeps his gaze on the serious looking figure. He startles when the man turns to face him watching in carefully veiled confusion as the vaguely familiar stranger sends him a soft smile. Glancing at his clothes, Aldwyn can tell that the man lived centuries ago and shouldn't know him at all even if they were family.
"Ah, if it isn't the young Heir Prince-Slytherin. It is a pleasure to see you again my young Grandson."
The smooth voice washes over Aldwyn. His features sparkle with recognition as he quickens his pace, travelling the remaining distance in just a few seconds. A delighted smile tugs the corners of his lips and he offers a short polite bow to Salazar Slytherin.
"Good morning, Grandpa Sal. How have you been these past few days?"
Aldwyn watches with amusement deep in his eyes as Salazar Slytherin shrugs his shoulders in, what Aldwyn knows his Father would deem, a very un-Slytherin-like manner. He giggles when Salazar merely winks down at him with a smirk likely knowing where his thoughts had gone.
"As well as one could ever hope to be when one is stuck within the confounds of their painting My dear little snake, though I don't suppose being completely dead would be much better."
Aldwyn giggles again, handing muffling the sound as he quickly turns to glance over his shoulder in search of his Parents only to frown when they are not there.
"You need not worry so, Little Snake. Your parents have simply apparated back to Riddle Manor to retrieve more of your belongings. They will be returning to you shortly."
Slowly turning his attention back to his thousand-year-old Grandfather, Aldwyn cocks his head to the side in question. He can feel his panic and worry subsiding marginally as he regards the greatest of the Hogwarts founders before inclining his head in acknowledgment. He would need to get used to not having his parents around all of the time if he is going to survive Hogwarts.
"How is it that you know they apparated? And where they went to?"
Aldwyn questions with a raised eyebrow shaking his head when Salazar's smirk widens as he stares down at the young wizard he had accepted into his family. He crosses his arms over his chest, sticking his nose up into the air in odd reminiscent of Lucius and Draco Malfoy when they are in one of their more pompous moods.
"Because my young heir, I am Salazar Slytherin, Greatest of the Founding Four and most supreme wizard to ever live upon this decrepit earth."
Aldwyn snorts, rolling his eyes at the arrogance of his Grandfather and, as if summoned by their conversation, Severus and Marvolo reappear in the entrance hall with a quiet pop. They drop of couple more boxes onto the floor inkling their heads in thanks as multiple House Elves succeed them, giggling as they pop out as soon as their own cargo as been delivered.
"Aldwyn?"
They soft call had Aldwyn glancing shyly up at his grandfather right hand raising to scratch the back of his neck before he turns his head in the direction his Papa's voice had come from. He wanted to go and greet his parents, but he didn't want to walk away from Salazar.
"Do not worry so, Aldwyn. I will always bee here if you should ever find yourself wishing to converse with me in the future. For convenience sake I also have a portrait in the main library, just tap on the frame with your wand and I shall appear."
Aldwyn can feel himself sagging with relief as he grins at Salazar. Bowing respectfully to the ancient wizard he throws a quick 'thank you' to the man before scurrying away as gracefully as he is able heading back towards Severus and Marvolo. Steeping back into the main hall Aldwyn spots his parents standing together smiling warmly, lovingly at him as he approaches.
"Ah, there you are, Son. We were wondering where you had gone off to. Exploring the house already?"
Severus asks teasingly making a light flush spring up on their son's cheeks as he nods his head trying his hardest to keep his hands steadily by his side, his Father had informed him the previous day that it was unbecoming of an Heir to one of the most Prestigious and Ancient Houses to be seen twisting their fingers into their clothes, creasing the fabric.
"I found one of Grandpa Salazar's portraits hanging on the wall just down the hall and we just started speaking. I didn't want to leave the entrance hall…"
Marvolo and Severus's smiles take on a sad note at their Son's words both hearing the unspoken 'without your permission' at the end of his sentence. Even though they are immensely proud of how much progress Aldwyn had been making, there were still so many aspects that needed to be healed and changed after his ten years stay with the abusive and controlling muggles.
"That is perfectly fine, Snakelet. You are more than welcome to go off exploring the rest of the house if you so wish. This is, after all, your home as well Aldwyn. Your Papa and I only called you because we wished to inform you that we will be apparating back and forth between here and Riddle Manor for a short while in order for us to move all our belongings and possessions for the house elves to begin unpacking and putting away this afternoon."
As Marvolo tries to ease their Son's worries with a quick explanation Severus watches as Aldwyn attempts to mask the growing apprehension growing in the depths of his eyes; most likely at the prospect of being left virtually alone in such an old, large, unfamiliar setting. Kneeling down in front of his Son, Severus places his hands carefully on the child's shoulders squeezing the thin frame in reassurance making sure to look directly into Avada green eyes.
"You do not have to worry so much, Snakelet. The Malfoy's should be waiting for you in the East Wings study and I am sure that Bill, if not Charlie as well, is wondering around somewhere. They would be more than happy to spend time with you and explore the house if you wish."
"Alright, Papa. May I ask Lucius to assist me with the writing of my 'Last Will and Testament' and the Newspaper article which will announce my disappearance to the wizarding world? And if I have time, may I also visit the library?"
Chewing his lower lip, Aldwyn raises his hand to fiddle with the silver clasp of his cloak his Father's words momentarily forgotten in lew of his raising anxieties. Until, that is, the pressure on his shoulders disappears only for his hand to be covered by the pale, potion stained fingers of Severus who brushes a soft kiss to his Son's forehead.
"As you Father has mentioned Aldwyn, this is your home as much as it is ours. Feel free to explore to your hearts content, if there is somewhere you wish to go then please have someone accompany you so you do not get lost. Also, I ask that you remember that if you find a locked door you do not try to open it as there is a reason for it to be locked, alright? I am also certain that Lucius will be delighted to help you in your devious little plan, Son. Your Father and I will show you to your new room when we return home."
"Alright, Papa."
Aldwyn hugs Severus tightly, burying his face into the crook of his neck for a short moment. He takes a deep breath allowing the familiar scent of potions and smoke to calm him before he pulls away offering a nervous smile towards his parents hoping to convey that he would be alright by himself for a while.
"That's our brave boy."
"We will be back with you before you know it, Snakelet."
Marvolo brushes a kiss to Aldwyn's hair, smiling and ruffling the soft strands causing his child to squeak in protest, fingers running through in an attempt to straighten it out again. He really should start remembering to keep his hair tie on him at all times, it might just dissuade everyone from always messing his hair up every time they saw him. Aldwyn takes a step back watching as his parents send him one last reassuring smile before they disapperate away to Riddle Manor.
He stares at the empty space for a few moments, taking deep breaths to calm himself down before he steels his nerves and turns sharply on his heels. Thoughts of heading straight to the east study floating through his mind. As he makes his way towards the east corridor Aldwyn ponders on whether he should use this time to request assistance from his Uncle on their plot to make Harry Potter disappear for good or if he should leave it for a bit. Entering the hallway, Aldwyn pauses when a familiar voice calls out for him. Glancing over his shoulder Aldwyn smiles.
"Aldwyn!"
Hiding his surprise Aldwyn turns fully at the figure speed walking towards him. Obviously, Bill had been off doing something down the other corridor as he walks across the entrance hall a large grin stretching his lips as he waves frantically over his head. Aldwyn rolls his eyes, the older wizard wasn't that hard to spot. Though it doesn't stop him from waving just as energetically back.
"It is so good to see you again, Parum Anguis. How have you been?"
Aldwyn couldn't repress the chuckles bubbling up his throat at the hyperactive curse-broker. Throwing his arms around Bill as soon as he is close enough, Aldwyn buries his face in Bill's robes as a warmth settles in his chest as his embrace is quickly returned. His squeak of surprise is therefore muffled minutely when he is picked up and swung around in a circle, Bill's rich laughter echoing in his ears.
"I have been doing well in the past two days since I last saw you and spoke to you, Bill. How have you been doing? Is Charlie here as well? Why are you here?"
Bill pouts at the underlying teasing lilt behind Aldwyn's words unsure whether it is due to the quick dig on their short parting or whether it was due to him enquiring after Charlie, their playful banter over which brother Aldwyn preferred still going strong much to his amusement. He settles Aldwyn back on his feet, holding him as he steadies himself before he ruffles his hair grinning when Aldwyn glares up at him with a huff.
"I have been doing well. Work has been as interesting as ever and we have even managed to excavate one of the largest tomes this year thanks to my efforts, of course. My boss was sad when I handed him my letter of resignation, but he understood when I said I have found a place where my talents are needed more. He wished me the best. Charlie travelled to Romania this morning saying something about handing in his own notice and transporting his belongings to Hogwarts ready for the new year to start."
Aldwyn grins up at the man he considers his older brother with warmth in his chest expanding as he drops his hand from his hair and hugs Bill once more. He opens his mouth to respond when another voice breaks through the silence causing both Bill and Aldwyn to jump apart.
"Nonsense Bill. I do hope you are aware that your brother and you will be residing with us here between the terms of Hogwarts. I have taken the liberty of informing the House elves that you and Charlie will be requiring rooms to be set up immediately, within the family wing, no less. I do hope you feel inclined to accept my humble offer, Mister Weasley?"
Bill stays silent staring wide-eyed, mouth agape at the Dark Lord he had been warned against his entire life, a mane he had been taught was evil, insane, deranged and yet her he was, that same Dark Lord offering him and his brother a permanent home outside Hogwarts. He ignores Aldwyn's chuckles at his Father's words knowing full well that the offer was not a suggestions, that it was just a nicely worded order. Bill's cheeks colour red when he realises how ridiculous he must look gaping like a fish out of water in the entrance hall of Slytherin Mansion.
He glances down at the child in front of him and startles a little when he sees the usually stoic, emotionless features of the boy's face lighting up in pure, unadulterated joy. His eyes sparkle in the candlelight, lightening the brown speckles swimming in his green eyes; a large smile stretching across his lips which, in all honesty makes Bill's heart melt instantly; not being able to deny such a look Bill sighs silently. He turns his attention back to Marvolo, scowling when he sees the knowing smile on his face seemingly having the same trouble in denying Aldwyn anything.
"Of course, My Lord. Charlie and I would be honoured to accept such a gracious offer; to accept a place within your home, Marvolo."
Marvolo claps his hands together elated at the prospect of having more company to keep his Son both more comfortable and to keep him entertained during his holidays away from school. Especially people he now considered part of his family and who he knew would keep Aldwyn safe.
"Perfect. Severus, my dear, would you mind sending a Patronus to Charlie informing him of these recent developments?"
Severus smiles at Marvolo, inkling his head in acknowledgement before his smile widens at the look of pure unadulterated joy on his Son's face. He brushes a chaste kiss to Marvolo's cheek.
"I would be happy to, Love."
Bill and Aldwyn walk contently hand in hand into the East Study, their eyes widening at the sheer number of books lining the walls. If this was a mere study, they couldn't wait to get their hands on the library. A large room stretches out before them with a small fireplace, similar to the one built in the entrance, this one carved from shimmering black marble adorned with small crystals which sparkle as the sunlight reflects off them. Five comfortable looking armchairs, each one a lovely emerald green accented with silver and deep purple circle the fire, making for an inviting place for someone to curl up with a book for the evening.
A large mahogany desk, which is where Aldwyn is assuming his Father or Papa would sit to complete their paperwork, plans for raids and lesson plans, if the piles of parchment and open tomes scattered across its surface were anything to go by, is situated against the opposite wall. Huge open windows covered the outer wall, glass shining in the midday sun as they stretch from floor to ceiling allowing full view of the Slytherin garden down below. Aldwyn grins at the sheer amount of natural light which fills the room, he had always preferred rooms with a lot of light in them after having spent so much time in his little cupboard. Green and silver curtains are drawn back against the windows, held firmly in place by thin pieces of purple silk strapping the heavy fabric in place keeping them from obscuring the view.
Aldwyn stands nervously in the doorway, hand tightening around Bill's when he makes to release his grip and wonder off. He shifts from foot to foot as he casts his gaze around the room, eyes settling on Draco and Narcissa who have seated themselves in two of the armchairs by the fireplace both curled elegantly in their seats deeply engrossed in their own reading to notice much of anything going on around them. Bill raises an eyebrow at Aldwyn, noticing his pale features and squeezes his hand; he crouches down in front of the child and keeps his voice low to not distract the other occupants.
"What's wrong Parum Anguis?"
Glancing into Bill's gaze for a moment, Aldwyn quickly catches sight of Lucius making his way through the many shelves filling the room, walking stick rhythmically clicking across the wooden floor in a smooth, practiced melody, his free hand brushing along the spines of each book as he passes deep in thought. His gaze returns to Bill who glances over his own shoulder and smiles.
"Did you need to speak to your Uncle Lucius? Would you like me to come with you?"
Aldwyn nods his head silently, grip tightening around Bill's hand as he stands up. Taking a deep breath Aldwyn cautiously leads Bill across the room, making sure that they remain silent so as to not draw any attention from their family. They walk up to Lucius stopping a few feet behind the man who seems too deep in thought to have noticed their approach just yet. Aldwyn takes another calming breath when Bill squeezes his hand, his voice soft as he calls to Lucius.
"Uncle Luc?"
The blond aristocrat spins on his heels, hand snatching away from the books in his surprise, face the perfect mask of a pure-blood Lord trying to hide the fact that he had been caught so off guard. He allows his expression to soften when he sees his Godson shuffling his weight, green eyes fixated on his shoes as his small hand tightens around Bill's who is grinning at the man.
"What can I do for you, Aldwyn?"
"I was wondering if you would be willing to assist me with something…"
Aldwyn trails off, glancing up at Bill who squeezes his hand gesturing back to Lucius who smiles down at his Godson trying to put him at ease.
"Father, Papa and I were discussing more about our plan to make Harry Potter disappear and I was wondering if you would be able to help us. That you wouldn't mind trying to whisper into the ears of the Ministry and possibly the Auror department. Maybe just enough to get some rumours circling. Just enough for them to feel inclined to send an agent to check up on Harry Potter and his relatives?"
"I see. The aurors would arrive only to find Harry Potter gone and his relatives acting as if nothing were out of the ordinary. It would appear as if he had vanished without a trace as his belongings would still be within the house; that would rule out the possibility of him running away from home, so they would believe Harry had been kidnapped or that something more sinister had happened."
Aldwyn nods his head agreeing with his Uncle worrying his lip between his teeth as he watches with veiled confusion as Lucius turns on his heels muttering under his breath. Bill guides Aldwyn away from the bookshelves when Lucius gestures for them to follow him. The trio quietly make their way to the desk.
"Well, Aldwyn, I believe I will be able to help you with this deliciously diabolical plot of yours, was there any information you wished for me to hint towards more so than others for the aurors and Minister to get a hold of?"
Bill sits down on the chair in front of the desk, while Lucius sits behind it, and pulls Aldwyn into his lap easily ignoring the inquisitive glances aimed their way by Draco and Narcissa who are quick to go back to their reading. Aldwyn leans back against Bill's chest sinking into his warmth as he ponders Lucius' question for a moment.
"I thought it would be enough if we were to sugar coat a few incidences, brush over how bad the injuries I received actually were. If we make it too graphic, then suspicion would be cast on the story and they would most likely brush it off as a poorly played prank. However, if we were to subtly drop hints of small cuts and bruises as well as unexplainable injuries such as a broken arm or something and suspected signs of malnutrition."
Aldwyn's voice is quiet as he begins to list the few things he wouldn't feel too uncomfortable with the Ministry of Magic knowing about, especially if it got the Aurors to investigate his questionable homelife and begin to crumble Dumbledore's perfectly built support base. He feels Bill's arms tighten around his waist, a hand carding through his hair and realises that neither Bill nor Charlie know the extent of his treatment at the hands of the Muggles. Silvius places a hand on top of the one resting on his waist and pats it trying to reassure Bill that he was alright.
Lucius is quick to summon a few rolls of parchment, a quill and inkwell, hand working quickly in order to jot down a few notes on what he is going to drop when he goes into work in the next couple of days. He will need to ensure that none of the notes could be traced back to himself.
"Is there anything else you are wishing for me to plant, Prince Corvus?"
Aldwyn tenses at the sudden address not expecting his Uncle to refer to him as his Dark Sect. guise in the company of their close family. His head shoots up, eyes widening as he stares fearfully at his Uncle, maybe the man had decided he doesn't want to associate with him now because of the reminder of his abuse. Aldwyn's hand tightens around Bill's, only relaxing when Lucius smiles and winks over the desk at him letting him know that his thoughts were unwarranted. He relaxes back into Bill.
"I apologise if the title unnerves you, Young Lord however, I feel that due to the severity of this discussion it would be prudent and appropriate of me to refer to yourself as such."
Aldwyn nods his head in understanding, small frame relaxing completely as his fear and panic subsides with the explanation. It did make a lot of sense and he is going to have to get used to being addressed as such especially with the formation of his own team. He lets his pureblood mask fall to the approval of his Uncle and Bill.
"That is perfectly acceptable, Lord Malfoy. I suppose I will have to become comfortable with such an addressing for when my team and I are formally introduced to the rest of Father's followers. I appreciate your efforts in this endeavour. In answer to your previous enquiry, I would very much approve if you were to include intricate details pertaining the minor infractions made against Mister Potter through the actions of his illegal Magical Guardian; possibly referring to his placing of young Harry with the Muggles against the will of his parents?"
Lucius smirks at Aldwyn his chest filling with pride at just how far the young wizard has developed and grown within the short time frame he had been under the care of his parents. A feral, gleeful glint shines in his grey-blue eyes being the only outward indication to his own enjoyment as being trusted with such a fulfilling task as he jots more notes down on his parchment.
"Leave everything to me, Young Lord. I will see to it that your wishes are fulfilled to the best of my abilities in the shortest period of time."
Aldwyn returns Lucius' smirk with a matching one of his own bowing his head graciously.
"I thank you, Lord Malfoy. I appreciate your efficiency on such an important matter and if I may enquire about the possibilities of a certain reporter or a specific newspaper's ability to hear word of such information and the pending investigation?"
Aldwyn raises a sly eyebrows, expression completely innocent except for the mischievous glint shining in his dull green and brown eyes drawing a chuckle from Lucius and Bill their own smirks stretching across their faces as Bill runs a hand through Aldwyn's hair.
"I will ensure to accidentally drop some files indicating to such an occurrence and investigation pertaining to the treatment of one Harry James Potter, Young Lord."
Aldwyn inclines his head in thanks to his Godfather, smirk widening as he reaches a hand across the table in order to shake Lucius' hand which the other is quick to reciprocate.
"Much appreciated, Lord Malfoy."
Lucius smirk melts into a soft smile. He would never have believed that this was the same boy he had helped rescue from near death just a few short weeks prior if he hadn't witnessed the transformation with his own eyes. Dumbledore and his Order were going to have to keep on their toes, their eyes peeled if they were going to stand even the slimmest chance at winning this war. Not that they were going to; Marvolo was completely determined in changing the Wizarding World for the better. It was only a matter of time before they would take the Ministry and then Hogwarts.
"I will always be available and quite happy to offer you my assistance whenever you may be in need of it, Aldwyn. You are my Godson and the Son of the Dark Lord and I only wish to see you happy and healthy. You are family now meaning that I will do whatever it takes to keep you safe and where you belong."
Aldwyn grins at his Godfather, eyes filling with tears at the soft-spoken words, his chest expanding with warmth as Lucius' eyes lighten. Bill's arms tighten around his waist in agreement with Lucius' words and Aldwyn feels grateful that the Dark Lord had accepted his compromise in the chamber under the third-floor corridor.
"Thank you, Uncle Lucius. Are you able to teach me how to write a will?"
Lucius raises an eyebrow at Aldwyn wondering why the child would need to be able to write a will when he looks down at the parchment filled with notes. His confusion must have shown on his face because Aldwyn smiles sheepishly, shifting in Bill's lap.
"Father and I thought it would help make the abuse seem more severe than anyone initially suspected and assist in leading their conclusions if Harry Potter were to have written a small will making it look as if it had been constructed a year or so before he attended Hogwarts. We were thinking of leaving it in the cupboard under the stairs for the Aurors to find."
Aldwyn looks down at his lap, eyes glancing at Bill's fingers as he brings a hand up to absently play with the long appendages not noticing the fond smiles Lucius and Bill are directing towards him. He feels a warm hand ruffling his hair causing him to glance up at Bill who drops a kiss to his forehead. Chancing a glance at his Godfather, Aldwyn stares as the man pushes himself up from his seat, grasping his cane in his hand.
"I believe I am capable of doing more than just teaching you how to format and structure a will, Aldwyn. How about Bill, yourself and I write it together, if you do not mind Bill coming with us that is?"
Aldwyn looks at Lucius before gazing over his shoulder at Bill both of whom are smiling down at him. He feels a blush coating his cheeks as he ponders the offers for a second, a large smile stretching across his lips he nods his head.
"Of course, where would I be without my second in command, Arete?"
"Second in command?"
Bill questions, awe in his voice as he squeezes Aldwyn tighter against his chest drawing a giggle from the young boy.
"Every commander needs a second and I think you would be great. It would mean that if we were sent on a mission, I would trust you to command a section if we were to split up or if I were taken down and unable to lead."
"I would be honoured, Prince Cronus. I can't wait to tell Charlie, always knew I was your favourite, Parum Anguis."
Aldwyn laughs rolling his eyes at Bill's response knowing that Charlie was going to have a few choice words about his choice, playfully mind you, and he couldn't wait to see it all play out in front of him. Their arguments about which was his favourite were still going strong and it always pulled a smile from him whenever he witnessed it. Bill lifts Aldwyn to the floor pushing himself from his own seat as the pair follow Lucius out of the Study leading them to a small classroom further down the hallway.
It had been roughly two hours since Marvolo and Severus had begun moving their belongings from Riddle Manor to Slytherin Mansion with the help of their family house elves and they breathed a sigh of relief as they placed the final boxes on the floor. They watch in fond exasperation as multiple house elves flitter around the entrance hall, a flurry of noise and movement as they each grab boxes before popping out in order to begin unpacking everything.
Deciding to leave the excitable creatures to their work, Marvolo slips his hand into Severus' and begins to lead the man towards the East Study walking as fast as they dared as the anticipation of seeing their Son again rises with each step. It was a mystery as to how much they could possibly miss Aldwyn after simply spending such a brief amount of time away from the boy. They are eager to see how Aldwyn is enjoying their new home as well. Upon arrival at their destination, Severus pushes the door open, their gazes racking over the room only to come up disappointingly empty.
They are surprised to see both Narcissa and Draco sitting calmly in the armchairs in front of the fireplace each deeply engrossed in whichever tome had taken their interest. However, as their eyes sweep the room once again, they don't find anything to indicate that their Son had been in the room, nor Bill for that matter who had been the last person they had seen with Aldwyn. Closer inspection of the room shows that Marvolo's desk had been cleared of his paperwork indicating to it being used by someone earlier on during the day. A small roll of parchment sits abandoned beside a quill and inkpot which is adorned with the Malfoy crest showing that it had most likely been Lucius who had been sitting at the desk.
Severus feels his eyes narrowing when he too catching no sigh on his Son anywhere in the vicinity; he remembers Aldwyn assuring them that he would speak to his Godfather about furthering their plans and had taken that to mean he would be staying in the East study. He can feel his anger rapidly rising towards the people he had left in charge of their Son. Clearing his throat pointedly, Severus smirks when all occupants, discounting the Dark Lord, jump at the noise; Draco nearly dropping his book on the floor in the process. Two sets of eyes widen at the sight of the irate wizards standing in the doorway. When he is sure that they attention is on himself, Severus raises an eyebrow, crossing his arms in front of his chest as he glares.
"Would one of you care to inform us to the location of our Son?"
Silence meets Severus' hissed question. Draco and Narcissa shot a quick glance towards the desk where Marvolo assumes Aldwyn must have been sitting, most likely with the Malfoy patriarch the last time they had thought to check on Aldwyn. Marvolo can feel his annoyance heightening at the continued silence and almost doesn't realise when he flicks his wrist calling his wand from its holster. The holds the wooden weapon between his fingers, smirk shaping his lips when Narcissa and Draco tense in fear, eyes widening as their gazes fix on the wand.
"I strictly remember asking you to keep an eye on our Son while we were kept busy with moving or belongings from the Manor and unable to do it ourselves. It was a simple task as Aldwyn is an extremely good child and tends to do exactly what he is told to do, and yet why is it that Severus and I arrive home only to find Aldwyn's carers having no idea as to my Son's location?"
Draco and Narcissa exchange a glance of abject horror, shivers picking up as Marvolo's brown eyes begin to glow with power a familiar red bleeding into them. His wand delicately twirls around his nimble fingers; a threat for them to start talking. Severus and Marvolo watch as Narcissa takes a deep breath before pushing herself up out of her chair. She bows her head respectfully, knees quivering when crimson eyes focus solely on her. She barely manages to contain her flinch when green sparks shoot from the end of her Lord's wand.
"My Lord, I am quite sure that your Son is safe; we last saw him with Lucius and Bill, and you know they would never let anything to happen to Aldwyn. Though I am unsure as to where they have gone to or what they were planning, My Lord."
"Oh, I see. You are quite sure our Son is safe. Well then, how could we argue with that? I am quite sure that certain followers of mine need to be reminded of what happens when my orders are not followed."
Draco cautiously follows his Mother's lead and makes sure to stand to his full height head slightly bowed towards the floor as he does his best to not incur the wrath of the Dark Lord on either himself or his Mother; praying to Merlin that he doesn't end up angering Marvolo even more.
"My Lord, Aldwyn, Bill and my Father were discussing the Daily Prophet article you mentioned before. I believe Father offered to aid Aldwyn in writing his will in order for him to begin implicating his part within the Ministry in the next day or so."
Severus breathes a small sigh of relief placing a hand on Marvolo's forearm gently attempting to sooth away some of his Partner's rage or to at least coax him into lowering his wand. Lord Voldemort allows himself to be pulled from his anger, calm seeping through his skin at the gentle gesture. He turns to face his consort, a thankful smile on the corner of his lips as he slowly lowers his wand arm from where he had trained it on Narcissa knowing that Aldwyn would not appreciate if he ended up cursing one of the Malfoy's.
Aldwyn dutifully sits down at one of the tables in the room Lucius guides himself and Bill to, glancing around he smiles when it reminds him a little of his classrooms at Hogwarts. Taking the offered parchment from Lucius' outstretched hand, Aldwyn waits for his Godfather and Bill to take their own seats before he dips his quill in some ink and poises his hand to write.
"Alright, so the first thing you need to do is open your will. Now, all wizarding Will and Testaments begin with the same phrase 'I, the insert you name and title, of sound body and mind hereby dub this my last Will and Testament."
Lucius begins, writing down the phrase in his own delicate calligraphy for Aldwyn to copy down. He tries to make his handwriting a little messier than it is now, before he frowns down at the quill in his hand. If he is trying to make this letter look as if he had written it before he went to Hogwarts then he couldn't write it with a quill and ink, nor could he write it on parchment. Eyebrows furrowing in thought Aldwyn frowns at the equipment for a moment.
"Uncle Luc? If I wrote this as Harry Potter before I went to Hogwarts then I wouldn't have known my titles, how to write a proper wizarding will and I wouldn't have had access to a quill, parchment and inkwells?"
"Ah, yes. I believe that would put a dent in our plans."
Lucius trails off hand raising to cover his chin as he contemplates on a solution. Bill stares between Lucius and Aldwyn before he smiles, a memory drifting to the front of his mind as he glances down at the quill and inkwell.
"Why don't you transfigure the quill into a pen?"
"A what?"
"A pen. It is a Muggle writing tool that has a store of ink inside, so you don't have to use an ink well. It prevents the ink from smudging as well by only letting the barest minimum out."
Aldwyn explains to Lucius biting the inside of his cheek to prevent his laughter from bubbling over at the look of utter befuddlement which descends over his features. Sucking in a large breath to regain his breathe, Aldwyn slips his wand out of his pocket and grins at Bill.
"So, how would I do this? Is there a specific spell or what?"
"I don't think there is a certain spell, no. Try concentrating on the quill and holding a clear image of a pen in your mind. Then do what you usually do in your transfigurations lessons because we don't have a specific incantation to use then I would recommend focusing your magic through your wand."
Bill instructs, ruffling Aldwyn's hair when the boy nods his head in understanding. He sticks his tongue out the corner of his mouth, eyebrows furrowing as his gaze locks onto the quill, magic saturating the air as he sinks further into his concentration. It takes a few moments when Lucius' quill begins to glow faintly, sparks of magic crackling from the tip of Aldwyn's wand before there is a flash of bright light and a small black ball-point pen is sitting on the desk. Lucius raises an eyebrow at the small device drawing a chuckle from Aldwyn who picks up the pen twirling it around his fingers.
"Alright now to sort out the parchment and then we can get started."
Aldwyn follows the same proceedings with the parchment and smiles when a page of lined muggle paper sits on the desk in front of him. Bill ruffles his hair again in silent praise at the non-verbal casting before they both turn their attention back to Lucius.
"Alright, so Harry Potter wouldn't know how to officially start a will, but I believe he would know to include his name possibly age and state that it was indeed his last Will and Testament to begin with."
Aldwyn nods his head, clicks the end of the pen and puts it to the paper, being mindful to keep his handwriting slightly messier than usual as he doesn't want anyone, especially Dumbledore and his lackeys noticing the familiarity between the two scripts. He carefully writes down what Lucius suggested and grins at the results. It really did sound like a little boy had given up hope of living through his teens or even pre-teens.
They jot down a few more ideas, Aldwyn scribbling away at the paper as he tries to construct the will as best as he can without giving too much away. Bill adds his two knuts in every now and again, pointing out little details which Aldwyn could input to make the age of draft more believable. It doesn't take them long for the document to be finished and they each read it over a few times to ensure it is finished before breathing a sigh of relief. Reliving through some of the horrors Aldwyn had had to endure as Harry Potter taking its toll on all of them.
"Alright, Aldwyn. I believe we are finished for now. How about we go see if your parents are home yet?"
"Okay. We can show them my letter if they are!"
Bill chuckles at Aldwyn's enthusiasm holding out his hand to the young boy who grasps it tightly within his own, Harry Potter's Will clenched tightly in his fist as Lucius proceeds them out of the small classroom. The trio slowly make their way down the corridor, pushing the door to the East study open drawing the attention of the residents within. Marvolo, Severus, Narcissa and Draco freeze when Lucius steps through the doorway Aldwyn and Bill close to his heels each chuckling softly. Their smiles stretching across their lips as Bill mutters something to Aldwyn setting him into fresh peals of laughter.
Turning to face the deathly quiet room, their laughter dies abruptly their eyes casting around at the scene laid out before them. Lucius sucks in a deep breath as he sees his Son standing almost protectively in front of his Mother who is gripping the material of her skirt in white knuckles. He spies the sheen of tears building in their eyes before noticing the wand still gripped tightly in the Dark Lord's hand. Narcissa's complexion was paler than usual, arms shaking making Lucius stiffen in panic, his grey-blue eyes glancing frantically between his family and Marvolo. Severus' muscles are stiff, even as Lucius sees the soothing hand stroking Marvolo's forearm in an attempt to calm the anger he can see shining in Crimson eyes.
"Father, Papa when did you get home?"
Aldwyn questions happily not noticing the tension palpitating the air until he furrows his eyebrows casting his own glance around the room, assessing the situation before he sighs. Looking pointedly between his parents a smirk works its way across his face.
"Should I even ask what is going on in here?"
Aldwyn allows his smirk to widen when Severus and Marvolo exchange sheepish looks before they look gaze towards the floor looking remarkable like scolded children, especially when the Dark Lord scratches the back of his neck in embarrassment. The tension within the room relaxes somewhat with the clarification that Aldwyn was, indeed, safe and sound.
Severus, shaking himself out of his stupor quickly walks towards Aldwyn and gently pulls his Child into his arms holding him close to his chest as he kneels down in order to direct Aldwyn's head to rest against his shoulder. He drags a hand through Aldwyn's hair and brushes a kiss to Aldwyn's temple just as Marvolo makes his way over to them. Dropping to his knees, Marvolo slips his wand back into its holster before wrapping his arms around his partner and Son as he too brushes a kiss to Aldwyn's head.
"We are truly sorry, Aldwyn. I guess your Papa and I were merely worried when we arrived home and no one seemed to know where you were. We had trusted them to keep an eye on you and we didn't know where you had gone off to. Your Papa and I thought something might have happened to you, as unlikely as that may be."
Pulling back Aldwyn glances between his parents, cheeks flushing a deep red as he feels a large smile stretching across his features never having felt or seen someone worrying so much about him before, it was a nice feeling he decided.
"I know you were probably worried about me Father, Papa but you were only gone for a couple of hours nothing was going to happen to me. Besides, Uncle Lucius and Bill were with me the entire time and we even decided to get started on the ploy to make Harry Potter disappear for good. We decided on what information to leak about his life to the Ministry and the Daily Prophet. Uncle Luc and Bill also helped me write the Will."
Marvolo smiles down at his Son eyes quickly flickering towards Lucius and Bill he inclines his head in thanks watching as they return his gestures before he focuses back on his Child.
"I apologise, Snakelet but we had asked the Malfoy's to look after you which included knowing where you were going just in case you needed them."
Severus's cheeks flush in embarrassment, a red blush dusting his cheeks as the realisation dawns that he may have acted too rashly, never having had a child of his own to protect and look after before. Much to his own mortification he is forced to admit that he had acted like the Gryffindors he so despised wondering how they were going to make it through the school year.
"Apology accepted Papa, Father. Just promise me that you wont torture the Malfoy's or Bill and Charlie unless they fail a direct order concerning the Dark Sect. or majorly affect our winning of the war."
"I promise, Snakelet."
"As do I, Son."
