Sam and Dean carried Carly to the couch so she'd be comfortable. Sam ran into the kitchen and brought back a wet washcloth. With that, Dean cleaned up Carly's neck, which gave the boys a better look at the bite on her throat.

"Yeah, a vampire did this and an angry one at that," Dean said, scanning over the bite. "The vamp tore into her, tearing as they went. They didn't want to just have a meal, but to cause her the most pain as well."

"But why?" Sam asked.

Dean met Sam's worried gaze with a shaking head. "I don't know, but we'll find out when she wakes up."

Dean stayed by her side as Sam went to get some food and some more medical supplies to help with Carly's injuries. She was alive but weak. Dean did his best to make her comfortable, cleaning her up the best he could.

Just as he set the washcloth down, a hand grasped his. He looked down to see Carly's weak eyes had opened and they were locked onto him. There was surprise and shock in her gaze, but her weak body made expressing that much more difficult.

"I thought you were dead," She muttered.

"I was, but how I returned is not important right now. How did this happen to you?" Dean asked with a sigh.

Before she could say a word, the door to the apartment swung open. Sam came into the room with the supplies and food, stopping short when he saw Carly was awake. He set the stuff down, closing the door behind him. He approached her side and it was clearly obvious the awkwardness between them was intense.

"I'm glad you're awake," Sam said.

Her eyes met his with doubt and she responded with sarcasm. "Yeah, I bet you are."

Sam flinched at the anger in her tone. Dean decided he'd have to be the one to ask questions so he got Carly to look back toward him, repeating his question from before. "How did this happen to you?"

"I...found a nest of vampires in a small town known as Delta, Wisconsin. I went in and took out most of them, but one got behind me and knocked me out," Carly explained, pulling herself up to sit up. "I woke up tied to a chair. The vamp had been a part of the coven that killed all my friends and family. He was pissed and wanted revenge, biting into my neck like the animal he was."

"How did you escape?" Dean asked.

Carly sighed, looking down at her feet. "While he was feeding, I was able to cut my bindings by using a piece of sharp metal on the back of the chair I was tied to. I got free and we fought, but I was too weak. He tackled me and…"

"And what?" Sam asked.

"And he fed me his blood," Carly muttered, meeting their gaze. "Once he had, I was able to fight him off long enough for me to get outside and into the sun. I got in my car and just drove. In my weak state, I was surprised I made it here at all."

"Did you swallow the blood?" Dean asked.

"He shoved his wrist against my mouth, I didn't really have a choice but to swallow," Carly admitted. "Why?"

"Oh, nothing. Sam, can I talk to you over here for a moment?" Dean asked, looking toward his brother.

Dean got up from the coffee table beside Carly and pulled Sam across the room so they could keep an eye on her without Carly being able to hear what they were saying. They looked toward one another, knowing what that meant for her.

Sam leaned in close to Dean. "What are we going to do?"

"Uh...I don't know. The best shot we got is calling Bobby and hoping he has an answer," Dean sighed.

"But what if he doesn't, Dean?" Sam asked.

Dean's gaze met Sam's. "Then we take care of it."

"You're not seriously suggesting killing her," Sam pointed out.

"If Bobby doesn't know a cure, we may have to," Dean shrugged, glancing back toward Carly. "Everyone she ever loved was killed by vampires. Do you really think she'd be okay with becoming one herself?"

"We are not killing her," Sam said.

"Then you better hope Bobby has the answer. I'll go give him a call, can I trust her with you?" Dean asked, pulling his phone from his back pocket.

Sam's brow furrowed. "Why wouldn't you be able to?"

"She does have demon blood coursing through her veins and she's bleeding. Can I trust you won't do something to her?" Dean asked.

"I would never," Sam said with shock that Dean would suggest such a thing.

"I truly hope so. I'll be back in a few minutes," Dean said.

He nodded to Sam before making his way out of the apartment so he could talk to Bobby in peace. As the front door closed, Sam sat down where Dean had been before. Carly met Sam's gaze and knew what was happening without him saying a word.

"I'm becoming one of them, aren't I?" Carly asked.

"No, of course not," Sam replied.

The second the words came out of his mouth she quietly laughed beneath her breath. "You're still a terrible liar, Sam."

She laid back against the arm of the couch, swallowing the spit in her throat. As she did, Sam made up his mind. Probably wasn't the best time for this, but if he didn't say this now he may lose the courage to later.

"Carly, I'm sorry for how I reacted a few months ago. I wasn't in a good place and I put it on you. For that, I am so damn sorry," Sam blurted out.

"That didn't give you the right to treat me the way you did," Carly retorted.

"I know I was a complete asshat and I feel so awful for what I did to you. If you hate me, I totally understand," Sam said, looking down at his feet.

Carly sighed aloud. "I don't hate you, Sam. I don't think I could ever truly hate you."

She sat up quickly, coughing roughly into her hand. Sam moved close and patted her back as she continued coughing. As she moved her mouth away from her hands, blood covered the surface of her palms and dripped from her lips.

The sight of this made Sam's body stiff, his eyes locking onto it. The reaction wasn't as strong as it had been with Ruby, but he could feel the urge within him to grab her hand and lick it clean, but he wouldn't give in. With a deep breath, he got Carly to her feet and helped her into the bathroom.

He closed the door and stood on the outside so Carly could clean herself up. She washed her hand and wiped her face. She grabbed a towel and dried her skin, looking up into the mirror as she did. That's when she saw what she feared most, screaming at the sight of it. Sam quickly opened the door to see what was the matter.

"Carly, what's wrong?" Sam asked.

She turned toward him, showing him her gums. "I have fangs...oh my god...I have fangs."

Sam pulled her into a hug as the door to the apartment opened. He helped Carly back into the living room as Dean came in. Sam got her onto the couch before turning toward Dean.

"What did Bobby say?" Sam asked.

Dean sighed. "He said there is a cure as long as she hasn't consumed human blood."

"I haven't. I came straight here," Carly admitted.

"Well, then the cure should hopefully work," Dean said.

"Hopefully work?" Sam asked with a raised brow.

"Bobby has only read about the cure in books, so he's not sure if it will even work," Dean admitted.

"I'll do anything," Carly said, meeting Dean's gaze. "What is it?"

"It's a concoction of different herbs, which we can probably get from a local psychic shop, but the final ingredient is a little harder to obtain," Dean said with a sigh. "We need the blood of the one who turned you."

"Should be easy enough," Sam muttered.

Carly shook her head. "No, it won't be. He's got at least twenty vamps protecting him. I got through a good chunk before he caught me, but he won't go down easy."

"So, what are we going to do?" Sam asked, turning to look at Dean.

"Our best shot would be to go there together and raise a little hell, but we cannot leave Carly on her own. She cannot drink blood before we get back or the cure will not work. Someone needs to watch over her," Dean said.

"I'm not a child," Carly whined.

"Yeah, but you are a newborn vampire. Soon the thirst will kick in and so will the pain. You will do anything to quench that fire in your chest. We cannot leave you on your own," Dean insisted.

"What about Ruby?" Sam suggested with a shrug. "I trust her and she would watch over Carly like a hawk."

"We are not trusting a demon to look after her," Dean said.

"You still talk to Ruby? Even after she got possessed by Lilith and killed Dean?" Carly asked with shock.

"Yeah, but it wasn't her fault. Lilith took control of her and she's all we got in a pinch. It's either that or one of us goes in alone, which is suicide," Sam said.

Dean looked from Sam to Carly and back again with a sigh. "Fine, call her. We leave within the hour."

Sam nodded before making his way into the bathroom with his phone in hand. The door locked as Dean came to check on Carly. He checked her neck to find the wound had begun to bleed again. She'd heal like a human until she had blood for the first time and if they could help it, she wouldn't consume blood at all.

Dean cleaned her up and redid the bandages on her throat as her gaze found his. "What if this cure doesn't work?"

"It's gonna work," Dean reassured.

"But if it doesn't?" Carly questioned.

Dean finished fixing her bandages and grasped her hand. "It will work. Don't think about what the other outcome could be. Focus on the hope that you will get to be human again."

He squeezed her hand as Sam came back into the room, sliding his phone into his pocket. "Ruby should be here in a few minutes,"

"Good, now let's go kill us a vampire," Dean smiled, slamming his fist against his open palm.
