Minerva inwardly smiled as she watched Sirius verbally strip hide from Albus Dumbledore. He had overrode her change in living quarters for Harry and Hermione regardless of their marital status. Before Minerva could say a word to Albus about it, Severus had contact Sirius regarding the matter. Lord Black had quickly arrived on scene with Mr. Lovegood and his ever faithful camera.
Albus had tried to reject a member of the press being present but Sirius had outsmarted Albus and explained Mr. Lovegood was on retainer for such occasions as Sirius feared being unjustly locked up once again. Albus had caved on that rather quickly although he still objected to marriage quarters for Harry answered Hermione.
"I still must object to shared living quarters," Albus injected in his grandfatherly tone. "They are much too young for that responsibility."
Minerva rolled her eyes but held her tongue as she allowed Sirius take the lead on this issue. "I don't recall you having a say in the matter," Sirius said haughty as his pureblood training rushed to the forefront. "You job is that of an educator. You have no say in the welfare nor living arrangements of two born from magical nobility. Did you forget Harry has two titles waiting for him, one when he reaches his minority and the other when I die? Hermione has one herself possibly two. You will issue married quarters as dictated by the School's charter or we will yank them from Hogwarts."
"You will do no such thing," Albus said aghast at the very notion. "Minerva wouldn't send her daughter to another school."
Minerva rolled her eyes before responding, "Sirius you can have full access to my villa in Etretat while you enroll them at Beauxbatons. I'm sure Jean Bellamy would be most helpful if he could have his granddaughter close by."
"Lovely," Sirius said delighted. He looked hard at Albus before demanding. "Sign off on the marital quarters or get me their educational files for their transfer to Beauxbatons."
"How could you agree to send your child to another school?" Albus retorted to Minerva.
Minerva glared at him angrily. "How dare you question my parenting choices when you murdered your child to hide your true ambitions of controlling Magical Britain?"
Albus looked as if he had been smacked by the witch. "I didn't," he denied.
Minerva glared at him before walking towards his desk. She allowed her magic to rush to the surface and enflame her skin. She watched as fear overcame him and he looked at her wearily. "Do not lie to me old man," she said with eerily calmness. "Arwen left enough evidence of your misdeeds in my emerald vault in France to put you away for the rest of your miserable existence. I have refrained from using that evidence simply for fear of damaging my children. Keep pushing me and I will use the evidence regardless of the fallout."
Albus looked at the emerald eyes of his once friend and cringed when he saw flames dancing about them. She truly is a sorceress! he thought as he grabbed a quill and signed off on the marital quarters. Minerva swept out of the room with Sirius following behind her grinning ear to ear!
Minerva was sitting in the Great Hall enjoying dinner when Firenze and another centaur burst in. She watched as Albus stood and tried to speak but the centaur interrupted him. "Alma asks for you, my lady," he said respectfully as he looked towards herself. "She has three granddaughters in labor and all are experiencing complications. Twila is the only one she will allow near them. We were asked to get you there quickly."
Minerva stood, climbed on her chair and leap over the table gracefully. "Hermione," she said loudly. "Come along. I will need help and Alma will accept you because of who your mother was."
Hermione stood from the table and smiled as Severus' cloak magically appeared around her shoulders. She gave him a grin in response before grabbing the smaller centaur's hand and climbing on his back. She watched as her Màthair swung up swiftly on Firenze's back with little effort. "How did she do that so effortlessly?" she questioned lowly.
The centaur she was on snorted in amusement. "You will in time, Little One," he whispered back.
"Let's go," Minerva said and the centaurs rushed out of Hogwarts with Minerva and Hermione on their backs.
The Forbidden Forest rushed by as they sped towards the Unicorn colony deep within the forest. Hermione had never been so far in the forest and looked around curiously. She hadn't realized how beautiful it was and yearned to be able to explore. She watched as the colony came into view and dismounted when her Màthair did.
"Alma," Minerva greeted one of the unicorns. "My daughter Hermione and I are at your disposal."
Alma looked Hermione in the eyes for a moment before smiling at her. "You are pure of heart like Lady Arwen," Alma said.
Hermione smiled at that. "I have a large legacy to live up to," Hermione answered.
"I have seen your own legacy," Alma answered. "You shall succeed where Lady Arwen failed. You have the best attributes of your mother but you inherited the fierceness and passion of your Màthair. I look forward to watching you succeed in life." Hermione smiled radiantly at that. "This way please."
Minerva and Hermione followed Alma further into the colony until they came upon a wide cavern. Three unicorns laid on their sides; however, one was not moving at all. "I have already lost one granddaughter," Alma said sadly. "Please save the other two."
Minerva moved towards the unicorn laboring more quickly and showed Hermione spells to use to detect a breeched birth and then how to magically turn them correctly. Hermione nodded and moved towards the other unicorn to cast the same spells. She watched as the tiny colt slid from its mother's body effortlessly. She cried happy tears as she watched the baby neigh and then suckle from its mother. Alma licked her cheek lovingly before moving to Minerva.
Minerva had the harder case. The child simply refused to budge. "Hermione," Minerva called. "I need you." Hermione rushed to her mother's side. "Keep the mother calm. I am going to have to pull this one out." Minerva looked at the tired mother and smiled encouragingly, "This will hurt but I should be able to help your child."
The mother neighed before laying her head in Hermione's lap. The girl rubbed the unicorn's face soothingly. Minerva steeled herself before reaching up inside of the unicorn with both hands. She grabbed the babies' front legs and folded them against its belly. She then pulled the foal towards her. The mother snorted in pain but held still.
"I see it's head," Minerva offered the unicorn. She shifted her hands further inside and found the back legs before folding them against its belly and tugging again. It took several long minutes of tugging before the colt slid free and neighed. Minerva pushed it gently towards the exhausted mother and smiled. "He's perfect," she told the mother.
"Thank you," Alma said as she came to inspect newest grandchild.
Minerva tilted her head to the side as she called for silence. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she stood and rushed to the stilled unicorn. "I hear a heartbeat," she said. She pushed her head against the unicorns belly and heard a thump. "It's faint but I hear it," she said to Alma.
"Can you save the colt?" Alma asked.
"Possibly," she offered.
"Please try," Alma begged.
Minerva nodded and then used her wand to slice open the dying unicorn's belly. With steady hands she pulled and pushed away fat and muscles until she got to the sack holding the colt. "Hermione," Minerva said. "Cut the sack and pull the colt out."
Hermione did as asked and pulled with all of her might. She felt the resistance give away and then pulled the baby unicorn to her lap. "It's not breathing," Hermione said panicked.
Minerva used her wand to remove the birthing fluids from the colts nose and mouth quickly. She then charmed an invisible force to perform cpr on the colt. Within minutes, the colt neighed loudly. "She's going to be fine," Minerva said relieved.
"You gave me a fright little lady?" Hermione said to the colt. "Try not to make a habit of it."
Minerva snorted at her daughter before she looked at Alma. "Do you want me to take this colt to Hagrid to be bottlefed?"
"I will nurse my sister's colt," the unicorn who had just survived a rough delivery panted.
Minerva smiled at that and then carried the small colt to the unicorn that spoke. She eased the colt down and encouraged it to suckle. The colt whined and refused. She frowned and attempted to push the colt near the unicorn. She whined again knowing that unicorn wasn't her mother
"Don't be stubborn little lady," Hermione said forcefully. "You listen to your elders and eat!" Minerva watched wide-eyed as the colt looked at Hermione before reluctantly suckling greedily. "That's a good little lady! You have to eat to get stronger."
"Thank you," Alma said grateful. She looked to her lost granddaughter before looking back to Minerva. "Your mate is a potion maker?" Minerva nodded her head yes. "Take what you can for potion ingredients. You saved her colt and she would give you whatever she could for that. I only ask that your mate uses the ingredients for healing purposes."
Minerva was flabbergasted by that. "Are you certain Alma?"
"Yes," the unicorn said. "You have proven your worth to us many times Minerva. I will allow this for saving her colt."
"Thank you," Minerva replied before conjuring a dark screen around the dead unicorn. "Hermione," she said. "You are better at preparing ingredients than I am."
Hermione nodded and walked behind the screen. She got to work salvaging all of the parts of the fallen unicorn she could. She did so carefully because she knew what a rare gift this was. She attempt to save as much as she could. Hopefully Severus and Robbie could use these ingredients for the betterment of their world!
