Sam placed Carly on her feet, using the hand around her throat to tilt her head to the side. With the other hand, he placed the shard of glass against her flesh and sliced into her skin. Not against an artery nor deep enough to cause her to bleed out, but just enough to cause blood to flow.
The sight of it made Sam's eyes light up with excitement, licking his lips lightly. He threw the shard of glass onto the floor, placing his lips against her throat. She felt him lick her bleeding skin at first, causing her to shiver. The shiver made Sam smile against her neck as he bit down. That is when the pain began.
Carly started to scream when Sam's hand went over her mouth to muffle the sound. He couldn't have anyone coming down until he had the strength to escape. Sam continued drinking as Carly grew weaker and weaker. The strength within her leaving her body and going into his.
When Sam had his fill, he lifted his mouth in pleasure. His grip loosening on Carly as she collapsed onto the floor. Sam moaned quietly, wiping his lips clean as he crouched down in front of her.
"Thank you for helping me, Carly. I will give you the strength to be as powerful as I am, but first, I need just a little more of your blood," Sam said.
He dipped his finger into the blood pooling on Carly's neck, drawing some sort of symbol on the wall. Just as he finished, Sam felt a rush of wind upon the back of his head. He rose to his feet, turning around to find Castiel in the doorway.
"Nice to see you again, Castiel," Sam said with an evil grin.
"Sam, you need to calm down," Castiel said, glancing down to find Carly barely conscious. "What you are doing has major consequences."
"It may, but I need to get rid of a certain demon," Sam said.
"I'm not going to let you leave," Castiel threatened.
Sam smiled at the attempt. "I don't think you have a choice."
Sam turned slightly so Castiel could see the symbol he had drawn. The sight of it made his eyes go wide. He barely had time to react before Sam placed Carly's hand against the symbol, Castiel screaming as he disappeared in a flash of light.
When he was gone, Sam dropped Carly's hand, turning back toward her. "That definitely woke someone up. We better get going."
Sam picked Carly up and strung her over his shoulder as if she was a child having a tantrum. Carly barely had the strength to keep her eyes open, so she couldn't fight back even if she wanted to. Sam got to his feet and began up the stairs. He got the basement door open to find Bobby already waiting with his gun in hand. The sight of Carly made him falter, but only slightly.
"Sam, you need to let Carly go and head back downstairs," Bobby said.
"No, I don't think I will," Sam replied.
"Don't make me shoot you, Boy!" Bobby threatened.
Sam looked toward him with a smirk. "I don't think you have the guts, especially since I have Carly and you may accidently hit her. You don't want to do that, do you?"
"Sam, please just stop this," Bobby begged.
"Not until Lilith is gone. I'm...sorry," Sam said.
Sam's hand rose into the air, pointing toward Bobby. He brought it toward himself and then threw it back at Bobby as if he was throwing dust. As he did this, Bobby flew backward into the wall. He stuck to it like glue just like Azazel had been able to do months prior. This made Bobby more fearful of Sam than he ever had before.
"You have to realize this is wrong! Carly is over your shoulder bleeding and unconscious and now you have me pinned to the wall like Azazel. A demon who tormented you your entire life. Please Sam, stop," Bobby begged.
Sam's demeanor faltered as he looked around at the mess he caused. For a second, Bobby thought that he had gotten through to Sam, but that weakness vanished quickly. Sam lifted his hand into the air and threw Bobby across the room, knocking him out cold.
Once he was out for the count, he left with Carly still over his shoulder. He found the Impala parked out front, but decided this time around to leave it for Dean. Sam pulled Carly's phone from her pocket and dialed the number of the only person he knew he could trust.
"Come pick me up...I'm ready to end Lilith," Sam muttered.
"Be there soon…"
Carly had fallen unconscious before Sam stepped outside of Bobby's house. She had been out for a few hours by the time she opened her eyes again. When her eyes did finally flutter open, she found herself strewn across a couch in a place she did not recognize.
She was in some sort of living room with almost every wall covered in cobwebs. A lit fireplace took up one corner of the room with a cracked flat screen TV taking up the other.
Carly sat up, the blanket that laid across her falling onto the floor. Her hand rose to her throat as she felt the bandaid on one side and the ragged cut on the other. She slid a finger across the cut as she winced in pain.
As she did, loud footsteps could be heard from the other room. Carly knew that meant someone was coming in to check on her. She looked around for a weapon and found an empty beer bottle on the end table beside the couch. Carly grabbed the bottle and slammed it against the corner of the table, which caused a jagged edge. The footsteps stopped as Carly spun around, pointing the bottle at the person who entered.
"Where am I?" Carly asked.
"Put the bottle down," Sam said, ignoring her question.
"Why the hell would I do that?!" Carly yelled. "You attacked me. You drank my blood against my will. So I don't think I will lower this bottle anytime soon!"
"I know what I did was...bad, but it was for a good reason," Sam insisted.
"Good reason? Do tell what this good reason could be? What is a good enough reason to almost kill me?" Carly asked with sass lacing her tone.
"Lilith," Sam sighed. "She killed Dean and tortured so many others. I had to hurt you to escape so I could get rid of her. When she is gone, the world will be a better place."
"Sam, you can't kill her. The consequences of that action are far greater than you can ever imagine," Carly said.
"And what are those consequences? Hmh? You, Dean, and Bobby continually talk about the consequences of this choice, so tell me what they are. All I see are good outcomes and yet you all want to protect her," Sam said.
"We don't want to protect her," Carly insisted.
"Then what is it?" Sam questioned.
Carly opened her mouth to tell Sam the truth when Ruby appeared in the room, speaking before Carly could. "Don't listen to her, Sammy. She just doesn't think you're strong enough to do this, but I know you are."
She wrapped her arm around his, meeting Carly's gaze with a smirk. They both knew Ruby was doing this to irk Carly and it was working. Carly squeezed the bottle tight in her hand.
"Don't listen to her, Sam. She's a demon, it's her nature to lie and deceive. She's manipulating you!" Carly yelled.
"I am doing no such thing," Ruby said with a shaking head. "I've been here for Sam when you weren't. Giving him strength and...company. I believe in his ability when you just want him to bury his gifts down deep."
"Because they're monstrous!" Carly snapped, beginning to shake as she squeezed the bottle even harder. "These powers are from a demon and are rooted in darkness. You escaped them when they went dormant, but you had to jump right back in by drinking her tainted blood. These powers are not a gift Sam...it's a curse."
"Just because these powers were given to me by a demon does not mean I am evil myself," Sam said.
"No of course not...it depends on what you do with them and what you've been doing isn't good Sam," Carly pointed out.
"I've been sending demons to hell without having to kill humans!" Sam yelled.
"Yeah and what about the possessed humans you've attacked to consume their blood? Or hurting Bobby? Or how about cutting open my neck with a shard of glass and placing your lips against my skin? Does that sound good to you Sam? Because to me that sounds far from it!" Carly snapped back.
Carly squeezed the bottle until it shattered in her hand. The glass cut into her flesh as shards landed at her feet. Sam stiffened, Ruby maneuvering around him so her mouth was close to his ear.
"You smell that Sam? It's calling your name, so why don't you take it?" Ruby egged.
His eyes went dark as fear rose in Carly. "Sam, don't listen to her. Don't let her get in your head."
"You know you need it Sam. It will strengthen your abilities so you can defeat Lilith. Killing the one demon who took your brother away from you. You want that, don't you?" Ruby whispered.
"Yes, I do," Sam muttered.
"Then feed on Carly and we can get back to planning our next move," Ruby said.
Sam's gaze went from Ruby to Carly and she knew he was gone, taken over with hunger. She backed up into the couch, falling onto the cushions as dust flew up around her.
Sam approached as Carly struggled to get off the couch and away from him. She got halfway off the couch when he grabbed her waist and pulled her back onto it. He held her down with one hand and grabbed her bleeding palm with the other. Sam looked at it for only a moment before latching his mouth onto her wounds.
Carly gasped in pain as her gaze went to Ruby who was standing in the corner of the room smiling wide. Carly would've wiped that smug smile off her face if she had the strength. As Sam continued to drink, Carly got lightheaded and fell into unconsciousness once again.
