Oscar dropped her off at home a few hours later. He tried bringing up the possibility of them moving in together again, but Elise quickly shut the conversation down. She wasn't moving in with him, there was too much heat over there. When he was dropping her off, he made a comment about not being able to come over later that evening to spend time with Olivia. It was right then and there that Elise knew the true reason as to why he had came that morning. Not only because he wanted to see Olivia, but because he was going to be busy that evening.

She had shook her head, the good hours they had just spent together was ruined that quick. She had slammed his car door and walked in the house. She couldn't do this with Oscar. It was bad enough that Freeridge was a dangerous place, but she didn't think she was going to be able to handle the fact that he was now the leader of the Santos. It added another unwanted level of stress that she wasn't prepared for.

She ignored his texts for a few days, hell she wasn't even sure how the he got her new number. But he had it. Knowing her, it was Carmen or Aaliyah who gave it to him. Or she wouldn't put it past her parents. Sometimes she wondered who's side the four of them were on. Her parents adored Oscar, even now and the dangers he brought with his presence. And Aaliyah and Carmen teased Oscar, but the three of them had an interesting friendship, they respected each other.

Come outside- Oscar 7:50 AM

Now Elise. -Oscar 7:53 AM

Elise sighed as she left Olivia at the couch watching cartoons and went to open the door of the house up. He was standing on the porch when she opened the screen. "What?"

"Why you ignoring me?" He asked her.

Elise scoffed, "Because I don't owe you a text every day, that's why. And because I needed a break from the bullshit." She muttered and crossed her arms over her chest.

Oscar rolled his eyes, "Livie ready?" He decided to ask again.

"Yeah… we were about to head out." Elise answered.

"Come on, I'll drive. And grab some sandals." Oscar added before she could walk back into the house. She didn't ask what the sandals were for. Elise grabbed Olivia and her bag, when they walked out of the house and she turned to lock the door, Olivia squealed and bounced at the sight of Oscar there.

"Dada dada." The toddler clapped her hands and reached for him.

A smile immediately broke out on Oscar's face as he grabbed her from Elise. "Hola princesa." He kissed her head as he carried her to the car. As Elise walked to her own car to get the car seat, he spoke up again, "Don't- I bought one." He said, opening the back of his car and placing Olivia carefully inside.

"How did you even know what kind to get?" Elise asked curiously she got in the car.

Oscar chuckled as he got in the driver's seat. "While you were busy ignoring me, I called your dad." He replied and grinned a cheeky grin at her, she rolled her eyes again.

They dropped Olivia off at daycare, Oscar walking inside with her this time. They then made a pitstop at Starbucks. After that, it was then Elise realized where they were going, she proceeded to look confused. "Why are we going to the school?" She asked.

"There's a greenlight on Cesar." Oscar explained.

Elise blinked, eyes growing wide as she nearly choked on her drink and sat up in the seat. "What?! You idiot, why is he at school?!" She exclaimed.

"I didn't know he was going!" Oscar snapped on his behalf. "I told him to stay at the house where I know he's safe. He left before I knew he was gone. I'm picking him up." He explained and she quieted down for a bit.

She frowned, shaking her head. "Then why am I in the car?" She couldn't help but ask.

"You're going to the beach with us." Oscar explained to his ex. Elise raised an eyebrow just as they pulled up outside the school and he sent a text to his brother. "Just chill out… because I'm really pissed."

Cesar came out to the car minutes later and moved to the backseat when noticing Elise. "You don't have to say it." He said with a sigh. "Hi El-"

"He doesn't have to say it, but I'm gonna say it. Are you out of your fucking mind Cesar?" Elise hissed as she turned around to face him in the seat. Both Oscar and Cesar looked surprised at her outburst.

Oscar blinked, licking his bottom lip and he reached over and put a hand on her knee. "Elise."

"Aight." Elise replied, leaning back in the seat and went silent.

Oscar turned around to look at Cesar. "Are you out of your fucking mind?" He repeated what Elise had said. "You can't be out here in the open, what if something happened, huh?" He asked.

"I'm sorry, but I had a math test." Cesar said, "This teacher will fail my ass…"

Elise gaped, and Oscar slammed his fist on the steering wheel.

"A Goddamn math test?!" The two exes exclaimed. Cesar's eyes darted back and forth between the two. He couldn't help but think they were scarier together.

"Oscar you better talk to this boy…" Elise shook her head and leaned back in the seat again.

Oscar cleared his throat. "I told you to stay at the crib." He told his little brother. "Use your head, before someone puts a bullet in it." He reached back and mugged him with his fingers.

Cesar scowled, "I'm sorry alright?"

Elise sighed, "It sucks doesn't it?" She asked Cesar. "Being stuck, with nothing to do but look over your shoulder." She tilted her head to the side and looked at the younger brother.

"It definitely does. Just don't be so stupid." Oscar instructed him, and Cesar nodded his head. Oscar rubbed at his chin and looked around. "So what are we gonna do about this situation?" He asked, before he went to chuckle at Cesar's confused expression. "I say we have some fun Lil Spooky." He said as he grabbed his blunt off his ear and lit it.

Elise smiled and reached forward to turn up the music as Oscar drove off and handed her the blunt. Cesar smiled at them. "Elise is scarier than you, when angry." He pointed out to his brother. Elise busted out in a fit of laughter as Oscar rolled his eyes. They had to drive back through Freeridge to get to the main road.

Oscar was smoking his blunt when he noticed the car. The green familiar car coming up from behind. He put the blunt down in the ashtray, "Cesar duck your head. Now." He ordered. He watched as his brother ducked down low. Elise frowned, looking over at Oscar with slight worry. He reached below his wheel and grabbed his gun that sat there and placed it on his lap comfortably. He looked over at Elise, nodding at the glove department and she nodded her head in agreement silently. There was another gun in there just in case she needed it.

The car came up beside them at the light. Elise looked ahead, but she could feel the tension in the car as she waited with bated breath. Then, the light turned green and Oscar turned right to pull out of the neighborhood, while the other car went straight. None of them relaxed until they were on the expressway.

The ride to the beach was only a little over ten miles away. They stopped to get a couple of sandwiches to eat on the way there. Oscar parked the car on the sand, and he walked around to the passenger seat to open up Elise's door, while Cesar exited the back. Elise reached down to take her sneakers off, slipping her sandals on. She glanced up, noticing Oscar watching her with a silent grin on his face. Elise felt her cheeks flush in return, "Stop…" She told him quietly as Cesar walked out towards the water.

"What?" Oscar asked her innocently in return.

"You know what you're doing." Elise said in return as she stood up and walked past him.

Oscar chuckled, closing the door behind her and following them. He used to suck on her toes in the heat of the moment during their many nights together. It was a weakness of his, and Elise let him have his way with it.

Elise dipped her feet in the water, breathing in the salty smell of the air and she smiled. She'd have to bring Olivia here one day, she just knew her daughter would love the beach.

"Why did you let her go?" Cesar couldn't help but ask his brother as the two of them sat in the sand watching Elise. Oscar handed him a sandwich and he sighed. "You guys always seemed so good together…"

"Things happened, it was the best thing to do at the time." Oscar explained to his younger brother. He watched as Elise pulled out her phone to take a picture of the water and he smiled. "We came here before. Me and her… I convinced her to ditch school with me, we ended up here. Spent the day in the water and making out in the back of the car."

Cesar rolled his eyes, "Didn't need to know that minor detail." He pointed out and Oscar chuckled.

"What are you two talking about?" Elise asked as she walked over to them, deciding to sit on the other side of Cesar, Oscar looked slightly disappointed.

"Nothing." Both brothers said in unison.

They were silent for a while, the three of them opening their sandwiches. Cesar spoke next.

"Eleven miles… it might as well be eleven million." Cesar said as he looked around at the water. "I can't believe I never come to the beach." He mused.

"I was out here three months ago." Oscar spoke up, Elise looked over at him. "The night I got out of Cocoran, needed to see something big. Something open after being confined to such a small place for so long." He explained.

Elise looked down, taking a bite out of her sandwich. She watched as both brother took a bite out of their sandwiches, and Elise looked amused at the sight of Cesar getting a disgusted look on his face and pulled an onion out of the sandwich. "Childish tastebuds." She told the younger brother with a grin.

Oscar chuckled when he noticed, reaching over to take the onion from him. He took a bite out of it. "Still don't like onions? You ever tried a shallot?"

Cesar looked confused, "What's a shallot?"

"It's a type of onion." Elise told Cesar, "Smaller than an onion though." She offered with a shrug of her shoulders. "Has a slightly different taste to it."

"A botanical variety of the species Allium Cepa." Oscar added.

Cesar looked even more confused, "Who are you right now?"

"Seventh and eighth grade spelling bee champion, that's who I am." Oscar joked.

Elise chuckled, "Oscar had a knack for these things. In home economics he loved cooking." She said with a shrug. "And his grades were incredible in all of his classes, did my homework sometimes."

"Shit, if I wasn't looking after your ass, I would've gone with Elise to school in San Francisco." Oscar said, and Elise grew quiet, looking away from the two of them. It immediately brought up unwanted memories, Oscar seemed to realize this immediately, and he silently cursed himself.

"Now you're just messing me with me." Cesar said with a grin.

"Nah, even the teachers wrote letters for me." Oscar said, glancing around him to peer at Elise, she refused to look back at him. "Even the principal, they told mom I was gifted."

But Cesar was intrigued, so he continued on. "Why didn't you go?"

"And leave your little ass alone? Nah." Oscar shook his head.

"But mom was around." Cesar said, not understanding.

Oscar looked down at his sandwich, "Nah… it just wouldn't have been a good idea."

"What do you mean?"

"Don't worry about it." Oscar said in response.

Cesar stared at him, before he looked over at Elise. He nodded his head, finally understanding. "That's why you two broke up."

Elise suddenly wasn't hungry anymore and she placed the burger down, rubbing the palms of her hands on her jeans. She sighed, "Your mom wasn't always around Cesar." She offered him a crooked smile. "Oscar couldn't leave you here to fend for yourself."

Cesar gulped down at lump in his throat, "I didn't know that." He said.

"Then I did my job." Oscar replied to his brother.

Elise looked down again, fiddling with her nails. She could feel Oscar's gaze on her and she sucked in a breath. She couldn't bare to look at him right now.

"Why didn't you… why didn't you stay? Or why didn't you make him come with you?" Cesar couldn't help but ask Elise and Oscar looked down. He wanted to tell his brother that was enough questions, but Elise opened her mouth to answer.

"Cesar I would never… never keep you and Oscar away from each other." Elise told the younger brother. "You're his world and… things happen, he didn't want me to stay." She said quietly with a small smile, before she rose from the sand. "I… I left my drink in the car." She told the two, quickly turning and walking off.

Oscar immediately rose from the ground, following after her. "Elise… Elise." He called after her, but she quickened her pace, shaking her head. He managed to catch up with her and grabbed her hand to stop her.

"No, no, Oscar." Elise's voice cracked as she yanked her hand away from him and Oscar froze in his steps. She sucked in a breathed, reaching up to rub her hand over her face as she breathed out harshly. "God, no." She whispered.

"He didn't know talking about it would…" Oscar trailed off and he stepped forward. "Elise, Por Favor."

"You think I'm mad?" Elise asked, turning around to face him with tear filled eyes. She let out a laugh of disbelief and shook her head. "No, no, I was mad the night you dumped me, when I begged you to keep us together." She reached up to wipe her face. "I was mad, when a month later, Carmen told me she seen you with some puta at one of your parties." She pointed out to him, and Oscar looked away. "I was mad, when I found out I was pregnant. I was mad as hell." She whispered. "Because if you left me, why the hell would God bless me with a child of yours?" She questioned.

"Elise, I'm sor-"

"Don't." Elise snapped. "You don't get to apologize to me, Oscar. It won't make anything better. We both did some fucked up shit. We can't change that. " she looked out towards the water and shook her head. "You shouldn't have brought me here to pretend with you. To pretend that things are okay between us. I… I can't get you out of my head and I want to so bad." She said quietly, looking down as the tears finally fell. She leaned back against his car, and she looked away from him when he stepped closer to her, invading her personal space, but still hesitant.

Oscar reached up, taking her face in his hands as he thumbed away her tears. "Lo siento mi hermoso amor."

"You never told me you loved me, until that day… and that broke me." Elise said quietly, closing her eyes as if to prevent anymore tears. "I tried doing what you wanted… I tried going to school, I tried to forget about you. I couldn't eat, when I started going to the doctor after I found out I was pregnant, she put me on anti-depressants because she was scared I was going to miscarry. She had to start giving me nutrition substitutions. It was a miracle I made it through school as much as I did."

Oscar continued to thumb away her tears, unable to form any words. His mouth felt dry as he grew more and more angry with himself. Guilt flowing through him. "I didn't want you to see the type of person I knew I would need to become. Breaking up with you was one of the hardest things I've had to do, Elise." He said with a small frown. "You have to believe me, I was trying my best not to get up and follow you there the day after you left." She sniffled, her breaths still coming out in broken shakes. "I thought I could force myself to move on. The girl at the party was no more than that, the homies thought that them getting me a girl would help with that. I thought about you every day."

Elise pushed him away from her, a gentle push, but she needed to be away from him. He didn't budge from the push, but he did take a few steps back. "Why did you tell me you love me? Why then?" She asked.

"I thought I owed you that much…" Oscar gulped down a lump in his throat. "I thought that you had said it to me so many times, I didn't want you to leave without me saying it to you."

"I didn't need that shit, Spooky." Elise said quietly, wiping at her face again. "I didn't." She said with a shake of her head. "I was going to write to you." She said with a small frown. "When Carmen and Aaliyah told me you were in jail, I had the letters ready. Just never sent them…" She explained.

Oscar looked up at her. "I kept track of you. As much as I could. Carmen and Aaliyah would tell me bits and pieces whenever I begged or seemed desperate. They were always so vague, I know now that it was because of Olivia. I… I rode up there one day." He admitted.

Elise snapped her gaze up at him, looking shocked. "What?" She asked with a frown.

Oscar nodded his head, "I lied… as soon as I got out of Cocoran, I came up there to see you. Took a nap on the side of the road because I was exhausted, but when I got there it was about 10 in the morning." He stepped towards her, and Elise stood frozen. "Called Sad Eyes, had him track down Aaliyah and Carmen. I just needed to see you. They told me your first class started at 9, so I just waited… Didn't see you until about 11. You had these shorts on with this bright blue shirt on. Your hair was braided in those cute straight backs you do. You were walking fast, there was so many people but I noticed you immediately." He took another step towards her. "I got out of the car, crossed the street, but I stopped."

"Why?" Elise immediately asked, breathing heavily.

"Didn't know how to face you." Oscar replied. "Can I touch you?" He asked, a pleading tone underlying the question. Elise gulped down a lump in her throat, before she nodded her head. Oscar immediately closed the space between them, pulling her in his arms as he hugged her tightly. Elise fisted her hands in his shirt, resting her head on his chest. "I love you so much." He whispered to her. "I don't want to let you go again. I meant what I said, please let me be there for you."

"I can't commit to a relationship with you right now." Elise said quietly.

"Then let me be your friend." Oscar replied just as quietly. "You and Olivia? Tu tambien eres mi mundo."
