A/N: I wrote this story with my friend Chalareia on the way home from school one day. It's my first one, so be nice!
It was a warm, summer day, and Daine Salmalin was out for a walk with her youngest daughter Emily. Emily was two, yet there was already evidence that she would be a wildmage, like her mother. Daine laughed as she watched Emily playing with a ferret. Using her mind speech to communicate with it, she told the ferret to be careful with her young one. The ferret immediately bit Emily as hard as he could, leaving four neat teeth marks in the girl's arm. Blood began spurting out at a furious rate, and Daine realized that the ferret had been sent to harm her family. Daine hurriedly scooped up her screaming toddler and rushed her home. "Numair!" she screamed as she walked in the door. "Emily's been bitten by an evil ferret. I think it was the last of Roger's legacy out to get us! Come quick…She's dying!" Daine wailed to her husband. Soon, she saw Numair's long lanky legs running down the stairs. He had been working in his tower, and he looked rather frazzled.
"Hand her to me, Daine," he said calmly. Daine, white-faced with fear for her daughter's life, did so without a sound. "Now, comfort her, because I think this may hurt." He pushed some of his magic deep into the howling toddler. Suddenly all was quiet. Daine looked relieved, than shocked. Without further notice, her baby girl was plastered all over the walls of the room. Numair's magic had been too much. Emily had exploded.
A/N: Now, wasn't that nice?
