Hey everyone,
And yet another Preview. I don't know where my mind keeps coming up with all this stuff, but this is one that has not been letting me go since it came up. And I will admit that, at first, I just came up with it because I was getting annoyed with a few personal things and wanted to vent Harry Potter style. I just never expected that need to vent to turn into a brand new story, but because I just don't have time to write it all down, did I turn it into a preview.
Anyway, there are a few things that I feel you all need to know about this story. For one, it starts out bashing a lot of people – Dumbledore, the Ministry, several teachers, some of Harry's friends, the Order, etc. – but that is just me ranting and raving. After that, there will only be constructive bashing, meant to help the characters forward and help them become who they are meant to be.
Okay, let's do this,
Venquine1990
PS. The HP wiki describes Phineas Nigellus Black as the headmaster who served Hogwarts from somewhere late in the 1900's until 1925. For the sake of this story, I am going to turn that fact back a few centuries to the 1600's. Sorry, not sorry.
Also, this preview, like the last, is also pretty old and thus still written in my older style. Apologies once again.

Harry's POV
The portraits … are here?'
HP OotP Chapter 27
"Well, I certainly do." A gruff voice says before I can do more than open my mouth and this turns everyone's attention to one of the portraits hanging on the wall, one I recognize as Phineas Nigellus, the ancestor of my godfather, Sirius Black. "And it's about bloody damn time he came here too. I've been waiting to do this since the end of bloody September. Thanks for that one, Albus."
The man sneers the last bit and I raise my eyebrow, wondering what he could be on about. "Of course, I could've done it the last time the lad was here, but that would've killed four-eyed's father here and even Death himself would not accept that. You lucked out, four-eyes." And to my shock is this actually addressed to Percy, who seems completely befuddled and confused.
"What on earth is that portrait talking about, Dumbledore? Can't you get it to –?" Fudge tries, but Nigellus just laughs hard and loud and asks: "You think a Headmaster has that much control over the portraits here? You're a right moron if that's what you think. Or should I say, a right fudgeball." And he laughs even louder, even as Fudge's ears turn red in embarrassment.
"Is this your attempt to get Potter and yourself –?" Umbridge then sweetly tries, but the portrait again interrupts and snarls: "Will you lot get off your bloody high-horses, stop being so bloody close-minded and realize there is more in this world than your puny little feud with the Headmaster here. Like I said, not everything we portraits do is related to the guy. For goodness sake!"
"Show the Ministry some respect!" Percy snarls at the portrait, but while I think: "Lost cause." Does Nigellus prove my thoughts right as he just sneers down and says: "I'm dead, you brat. I don't have to follow anyone's orders, especially not those of a snotball like yourself." And Percy turns just as red as his boss, while my curiosity over all this grows.
I turn to the portrait myself and ask: "Sir, you said you've been wanting to do something since I came here to – to report my concerns for Ron's family, which were proven true when your colleague over here found Mr. Weasley almost bleeding to death last Christmas. What – what exactly is it that you meant when you said you wanted to do something?"
I can easily feel a furious glare cutting into the back of my neck and know that it's Umbridge because I'm currently showing Nigellus more respect than I have done her all year, but I think: "Anyone who can shut her and that moron Fudge up has my respect anyway." And I wait patiently as the man seems to study me for a while before he softly says:
"So he was right, after all. You really do have skills that no one here seems to even want to acknowledge. Well sonny, that's only going to make me enjoy all this all the more." This intrigues and slightly touches me as it's still an ancestor to my godfather that just complimented me and the man clears his throat before he says: "Right, time for a little history lesson.
And I don't care what you think or want, you're just going to listen, because I'm not waiting a moment longer. Now, allow me to start by pointing to my colleague over here." And he motions for the woman on his right, who smirks at him. "This is Headmistress Kaithlyn Hendrix and she was Headmistress – 150 years before I took up the post. How is that possible, you may ask? Simple, it's because I am not the Most Hated Headmaster of Hogwarts.
Those are over there." The man says, motioning for one of Dumbledore's many glass cabinets that, to the shock of everyone in the room, suddenly starts to become loud with various voices, both male and female. And all those voices are shouting so many kinds of insults that I notice even the unknown man standing by the door turning red before the sounds become muffled again.
"The Hall of shame. That is the room where the portraits of all Headmasters and Mistresses who have ever really shamed Hogwarts are hung. And don't get me wrong, I almost ended up there myself. I just got the dumb luck that I was saved by an intervention, one brought on by a son of a very, very famous House. Tell me, lad, what do you know of the Peverell House and the tale of the three brothers?"
This confuses me as I have never heard of either and when I say so, does Nigellus actually send a really dirty look Dumbledore's way, yet the man himself just looks calmly back, not even giving an inch. "That's that moron's fault, lad, not yours. It's his and his staff's job to make sure their students know about their heritage, so I don't blame you for their ignorance.
Yes, lad, you descend from the Most Noble and Most Ancient House of Peverell, even if your mother is what she is. Ugh, not important. Anyway, it was one of your ancestors that saved my hide and allowed me to be hung here instead of with that lot in there. Since then I have been quite close with their benefactor and let me tell you, he – ain't – happy."
And just those three words seem to cause everyone in the room to shiver, as if someone just walked over their grave, yet I don't feel the same thing, which confuses me. "Now then, I guess it's time to wrap all this up and get this next intervention going. Like I said, my intervention kept me from being known as a traitor to Hogwarts and now – Albus needs the same – and so does the rest of your lot."
And with that does the man snap his fingers and instantly I feel like someone is pulling a hook behind my navel. Wondering how a portrait can create and activate a Port Key just by one motion, do I try my hardest to push away my shock and ignore how the world swirls around me, determined not to land on my hands and feet again, but to be ready for anything.
Yet when I reach where the man took me, do I find myself shocked to realize that I am back where I came from, the Room of Requirement where Dobby warned me about Umbridge coming for us. And to my horrid fright do I spot Hermione, the Weasleys – actually all Weasleys – Neville, Luna, Susan, Dean, Seamus, Parvati and Lavender.
But I also see Lupin and Tonks and Kingsley standing with the older Weasleys and to my relief are their bodies shielding Sirius, standing in such a way they prevent Percy, Fudge, Umbridge and the other Auror from seeing him. Dumbledore, McGonagall, Sprout, Hagrid, Flitwick and Snape are here as well, yet they have been sent to form their own clique.
I notice Sirius spotting the Ministerial members and changing, luckily just in time too as Mrs. Weasley wants to turn to him, obviously to rant, but she gets interrupted by a voice that makes her voice still in fright and makes everyone else – again bar me for some reason – shiver in fright as he says: "Well, that certainly took long enough. Glad that we can finally get this over with."
I turn around and see someone who looks incredibly powerful standing behind me, wearing a long grey cloak that has a single bronze button holding part of it up at the shoulder, who has eyes that are black slits with actual yellow pupils and who, shockingly enough, has blue flames for hair. The being has an aura around him that confuses me as it reminds me both of the Dementors and a warm fire.
The being looks at me and for some reason I feel like I should be shivering in fright at how a slow smirk grows on his face, but I don't and he says: "So like your ancestors. No matter what your House changes its name to, they will never actually fear me. Though you don't feel like mocking or defying me either, do you young one?" And I shake my head, wondering who'd be stupid enough to do that.
"I KNEW IT!" A shrill voice shrieks and I cringe at this as the being looks up in boredom and Umbridge shrieks: "I knew you were no good! Conjuring deities of darkness! That's forbidden magic, Potter! AURORS, ARREST HIM!" But while Kingsley just looks at the woman as if she's declared herself Voldemort's mistress, does the other Auror step back, fright clear on his face and in his step.
"DIDN'T YOU HEAR ME! I SAID –!""Unlike you, toady, they're not stupid enough to have a death wish." The being behind me interrupts her and he goes on: "Also, you really should've taken Phineas' advice and stop being so short-minded as to think that all accomplishments are your work and all failures are Harry's or Dumbledore's fault. It's not doing your health any good.
Not that I care, the sooner you enter my realm, the better off this world will be." The being mutters at the end and I work my hardest to hold back a snort as I fully agree with the deity. Yet this whole time I still wonder about one thing and so I turn to the deity and ask: "Your excellency, what exactly is the connection between my ancient line and the – the Tale of the Three Brothers?"
And while this seems to make some of those behind me gasp and I hear Ron whisper: "How did I never realize that?" Does the deity smirk and say: "The tale is a kid's story that is based of an event that your ancestors went through when two of them were stupid enough to actually do as I said, yet the third of them was smart, caring, cunning and yet also courageous enough to earn my respect.
This happened during a time where many like me, deities, beings, the Powers that Be, took to a line of powerful mortals and took a liking to them. I chose your line, the goddess of love chose the Weasleys – as shown by their many kids – and so on and so forth.
And like your friend over here said, this liking of mine can be proven – by what is currently within your robe's inner pocket." This confuses me, but I put my hand in regardless and feel the watery-like texture that is my invisibility cloak. Wondering how that could have ended up there, do I look at the God, who smiles as I pull it out. "Indeed. How else could it still be working.
Am I right, Albus Dumbledore?" The being asks, his tone losing its actual warm and respective tone as he looks up over me and over to the Headmaster, who – upon me turning around – I spot looking quite cross and concerned. "I simply don't think –." The man tries, but the deity snaps: "No one cares for your opinion, Dumbledore. Especially not these two."
And a pathway opens the behind the deity, like a door opening in the middle of the room but with no walls attached and from it, to my utter shock, two people come out. One of them male with messy black hair, crooked knees and glasses in front of his hazel brown eyes and the other a woman with long red hair, a slim form and gorgeous emerald green eyes.
I gasp and stutter as I see the two of them walk out of the portal, which closes behind them, and the two smile as they approach me, yet they keep still only two steps in front of me. And in their eyes I can see why as they are inviting me to take the first step, allowing me the chance to prove to myself that this is all real and that they are really here.
My whole body starts to shake at this and my arm is a wobbly mess that I can only manage to raise high enough it almost reaches the two, but doesn't quite touch them, shivering in the space between us. The two of them smile even wider and then the woman, my actual mum, gently raises her own arms up, her hands clasping around mine in a loving hold.
This proves it, this touch of flesh upon flesh, brings it home to me and the next second I pass by closing the distance between us, rushing for the two and yet pulling the woman towards me at the same time. And both of them meet me halfway, neither saying a word, but just continuing to smile at me with a strong sense of warmth and another emotion in their eyes that I just can't place.
For some time do we just keep standing, part of me wondering why no one behind me is talking, whispering or anything. Yet the sensation of being embraced by the two people I'm only actually able to see in pictures, but of who I have no conscious memory other than their voices as they try to keep me safe from Voldemort and die for me keeps me from really caring.
"You go first or should I?" I hear mum ask dad and the man mutters: "I'll go first, you just keep him safe." And for some reason do I get the feeling that the man doesn't mean Umbridge. The man then steps away and I finally open my eyes as I had closed them earlier in my need to strengthen the experience of feeling my parents embracing me.
And upon looking at him and at where he himself is looking, do I get proven right as a stern glare of annoyance is aimed at where the staff is standing. I turn around and mum moves alongside me, making it so that I get to keep holding onto her while looking around and see that this has shocked most of the staff, bar Sprout and, naturally, Snape.
Yet then dad does the impossible as he says: "Allow me to start this intervention by proving just how badly it's actually necessary, especially for those who call them the staff of Hogwarts." He turns to glare at Umbridge for a short second as he says this and then goes on: "At the current moment, the only two members of staff I respect – are Pomona Sprout and Severus Snape." And every mouth bar my mother's drops at hearing that statement.
Wait WHAT?
James Potter RESPECTS Snape? Why? What did Snape ever do to earn that? Especially when you take those atrocious Occlumency lessons into account. Well, trust me, James does have a reason and it's a pretty solid one. Also, there is one thing you should all take into account. James said respect, not trust. And to him – and me – there's a big difference between the two.
So yeah, this is another story that I have planned and trust me, it's going to have quite a few twists that are going to shock many of those in the room as well as, I'm sure, some of you. But like I said, at first there will be bashing in this story that is going to do just that, bash the characters, but later it will change to more constructive bashing as I don't want to antagonize – well, most of my characters. Most of the Ministry doesn't fall under that category.
Also, I'm sure some of you thought this was just another version of Heart Sound, another preview that I brought up a few years ago, but I assure you, this story has only its beginning in common with that one. I'm also not entirely sure when this story will see the light of day and become a story full and true, but I do hope it will be sometime soon.
Oh well, onto further story parts:
Lily and James lay into several members of staff, bar Sprout, as well as several of Harry's friends and most of the Order.
The only ones that Lily and James actually trust and respect are Sirius, Luna, Neville, the twins and Sirius, who they call over to join them and their son.
Luna is actually Harry's sister, but because Voldemort tried to come after Harry from the moment he was born, did Lily and James give her up to the Lovegoods to keep her safe. They did so, because Xeno, despite his crazy behavior, was never on Voldemort's radar.
James takes the Elder wand from Dumbledore.
James uses the Elder Wand to take the Horcrux out of Harry, but brands the mark of the Deathly Hallows on his wand hand as Death always takes a toll and using the Elder wand to do this painlessly requires James to harm his son some other way.
Harry is offered to have his parents returned to him, if he willingly gives the Elder Wand and the Resurrection Stone back to Death in return. Yet because of the people that James called to stand with them, does Harry ask permission to use the Wand one last time.
Death understands what Harry wants and sends him to St. Mungo's where he uses the wand to heal the Longbottoms before Death calls him back. Upon his return does Harry willingly give both items to Death in exchange for his parents.
Death tricks Harry into believing that he only has one Hallow left as he considers the two soul parts of Voldemort enough of a price to pay to return Lily and James back to life, but doesn't tell Harry about this.
The Mark on Harry's hand allows him to store the cloak inside, yet upon Death's departure does the being also store the Elder wand in the mark, something only Lily knows about.
Cedric was cursed by one of the Death Eaters at the World Cup to have nothing but bad luck, which would eventually kill him in some kind of bad accident. Because of this did he enter his name in the Tournament in the hopes of at least dying a noble death.
Death tells Harry that he won't take the cloak in return for Cedric as even his powers aren't enough to stop the curse from coming back as well and he does not feel like putting the line of his favor or the others through the pain of such a loss a second time.
James cares nothing for Remus as he never lives up to his intentions unless Dumbledore asks it of him, but still dares to say that he has Harry's best interest at heart and even hates him, because he has known about Harry and the blood quill – thanks to him being a werewolf – and has done nothing, because Dumbledore puts the Order above Harry.
Lily actually hates Flitwick, because he has been taking bribes from his students in return for them being allowed to bully Luna and she has Tonks, Kingsley and the other Auror arrest him on the fact that he is negotiating with Seventh Years on who gets to rape Luna.
Umbridge actually lost her position as member of the Ministry after she took on both the role of DADA teacher and High Inquisitor, thanks to ancient laws that can only be changed by the combined force of several Ancient Lines. Because of this does she lose her power to keep Kingsley and the other Aurors from arresting her for torturing the students with the Blood Quill.
James and Lily convince McGonagall to give up her roles as Deputy Headmistress and Transfigurations Teacher, so she can truly focus back on what's she's forgotten is so important to her; Gryffindor House and its students.
Lily and James take over the positions of DADA, Charms and Transfigurations teacher with James taking the latter of the three and Lily splitting the former two over two weeks: DADA first to fourth years one week and Fifth to Seventh the next and Charms Fifth to Seventh one week and First to Fourth the next.
Remus is actually Dean's father, but only he and Dean's mother know about this and Dean is actually hiding how much stress his mother puts on him for being a talented wizard. His mother also used a Muggleborn to put restrictions on Remus, making it so that he can only keep Dean in his will as long as he doesn't tell the boy that he is his father.
After the intervention does Harry solve this by getting Dean to give him his address as Harry wants to use the summer to spend time with all of his friends and close acquaintances and he gives this address to his parents who get a Law-Wizard of their own to fight the contract set up by the Muggleborn friend of Dean's mother and return Remus his rights to be part of his son's life.
Death predicts that, if people like Harry and McGonagall and others, go on with their lives based on Dumbledore and his beliefs, the Light will win the war, but the Wizarding World will die out in 2050, thanks to constant conflicts and fights breaking out every few years with Luna being the last witch alive who uses a dark ritual to take her own magic and that of her offspring.
James and Lily are annoyed with Ron and Hermione because they just don't get what being friends with Harry means and are letting their own egos get the better of them, making it so that they more often order Harry around than ask him if he wants to do something and that, if he doesn't want to, they pressure him until he gives in.
James and Lily dislike Molly because they think her a hypocrite who says that she cares for Harry and considers him one of her own, but she still lets Dumbledore walk all over the decisions she wants to make him and believes he knows better than her, which is something they think no mother should ever believe.
James and Lily don't really hate or feel disappointed with everyone who was brought in as they do respect and care for Arthur and how he, regardless of everyone, stays true to his convictions and how hard he is willing to work to provide for his family, regardless of the views of others.
Sirius is actually more than Harry's godfather as his own magic recognized Sirius as another part of his family shortly after his birth and James followed up on this by naming Sirius Harry's magical father, which he did in front of Remus and Albus, who he feels both ignored this for too long, even after Dumbledore learned the truth of Sirius' innocence.
Death ends the intervention by stating that he will take Voldemort and his fate upon him and that the Order needs to stop worrying about the monster. He also tells the Minister that he no longer needs to continue slandering Dumbledore as the man has no more need to continue spreading awareness of the monster's return.
Fudge tries to argue this, but Death angrily asks him if the Minister doubts Death's ability to know who does and who does not enter his realm. With this he fully and utterly convinces Fudge of Voldemort's return once and for all.
After the intervention do Lily and James take Harry, Luna and Sirius to the chambers of the Transfigurations teacher, where James decides to lodge from now on until the end of the year. Yet Molly doesn't realize that the two might want their best friend close and makes it sound to Albus as if Sirius ran away after everyone returns to where they were before the intervention.
Ron and Hermione think they can continue where things left off before the intervention, but Harry gets backed up by those that James and Lily called towards them during the intervention and he himself fights the two when he feels that their beliefs counteract or disagree with the beliefs of his parents. Yet when the two try to argue this, does he set them an ultimatum; accept that he has parents that he will listen to or lose him as their friend.
A lot of students believe that Harry and Luna will be favored by James and Lily, the same way that Snape favors Malfoy, but the family, over the weekend between the intervention and the start of classes, agree not to let this happen and prove so in just the first week of classes, yet Harry and Luna also agree to spend as much of their free time as possible in their parents' rooms.
Lily uses her first class of Fifth year DADA to teach the students about just how dangerous even the most innocent of beings might be and through this gives Hermione a much needed history lesson in House Elf lore, proving her convictions about them to be false and flawed.
She also sets each student that is a member of the DA with a student that isn't and sets them to teach other outside of class; the DA student teaching the not-DA student a spell that was taught in DA sessions and the Not-DA student teaching the other a spell they themselves are an expert in.
James vows to teach the Fifth years how to become Animagus and states that he will have them fully transform by the time they sit their NEWTs. He also teaches them meditation as that is one method used to become an Animagus, but he also knows it will help students who want to learn Occlumency, something Harry had no idea about, thanks to Snape.
During the Intervention James and Lily ask Harry and Luna to either get themselves resorted into Hufflepuff – as that is the only House with a Head that they both trust and respect – or to stay/be resorted into Gryffindor and accept Pomona as their magical guardian. Yet Harry and Luna accept the latter, but then with the promise that they will go to their parents instead of Sprout as the two are now their parents as well as their teachers.
Even though Luna gets Resorted into Gryffindor, do some Ravenclaws think they can continue bullying her, causing her to get hurt during her first ComC class after the intervention. Yet Lily and James respond to this by calling all of the Heads together as well as Kingsley and having the six of them decide the fate of the attackers.
The attacking students get grounded with detention set until Luna graduates unless they officially and publicly apologize to Luna. They also get banned from the Library with only the allowance to rent out the most standard of books for their homework and nothing for extra studies or credit.
The attackers try to fight this punishment, but Kingsley tells them that the attack went so bad he could also arrest them for endangering a fellow student and that they got off easy. He tells them that he will be informing their parents personally and telling their parents that he will, from now on, keep a close eye on them, warning them that he will arrest them next time they try something that is against the law like this.
Dumbledore tries to fight this, but Lily and James step in and tell him this is the second chance they give the two, just the way he likes it, but that they are the kind of people who let the second chancers know this is also their last and only chance, that such a second chance doesn't mean they go off scot-free, like Dumbledore usually does.
After the attack does Harry get nightmares of something worse happening to his family. Because of this do Lily and James contact Arthur and Molly and do they convince the Weasley parents to set up a contract between the two families, one that allows Ginny to work as Luna's bodyguard.
In return for this will the Potters consider the Life Debt between their families paid up, will Ginny receive free extra classes in all of Lily and James' subjects to improve her skills and do a better job, will she be paid double the allowance Bill and Charlie had and does James promise to leave a good word with the Holyhead Harpies – the Quidditch Team Ginny wants to play for after Hogwarts – if she manages to keep doing a good job until graduation.
This last offer instantly makes Ginny accept the terms and the contract, but asks that she still gets to stay Luna's friend when they're alone and somewhere safe, which everyone present – Harry, Luna, the Weasley and the Potter parents – happily agree to.
James and Lily also call the Weasley twins to their rooms while the parents are still present and then tell the twins that James and Sirius are the Marauders and how many benefits there actually are to good NEWT scores, such as the ability to do better business with companies like the Apothecary if they want to buy in ingredients for their potions.
The twins feel shocked and stupid for not realizing this and when James asks: "So, can I expect an Outstanding on your Transfigurations NEWT?" Do they instantly rush for the library, to the amusement of the Potters and the utter shock of Molly and later Hermione.
The Potters have actually been allowed a portal of vision to watch over Harry ever since they died. Because of this do they know most of what he's been through and how he feels about certain things. They also know about those that have harmed or tried to harm him.
Because of this do they call Lucius Malfoy to them when Draco tries to threaten Harry with their deaths and tell him that they have an actual memory, already stored and copied within a newly bought Pensieve, of the day he tried to kill their son and that they will use it against him if anything happens to either them or Harry by either his or Draco's hand. Lucius instantly takes the warning for what it is and warns Draco to leave the Potters be.
Like I said, this story would not let go of me and so I planned out and planned out and planned out. I have just so much planned for this story it's not even funny. Also a few other small things I should mention: during Harry's Career Day he will tell McGonagall he wanted to be an Auror at first, but that spending time with his family changed his mind. I might also have other stuff planned for later down the line, but I don't think that matters right now.
See ya'll,

PS. Yeah, the list of future story parts is almost just as long as the preview, imagine that.
