There was anger in him, he'd first thought when their eyes met now. Ganondorf's eyes were wild, hands grasped tightly on Rhoam's throat and malice in his tone, different from the night they'd met and every night after. Link couldn't remember ever seeing this side of him, a side that prophecy had predicted and yet was unfathomable at the same time.

The knight was glued to his spot, stuck there with indecision. He doesn't know who to protect, neither was a good decision and yet he finds himself turning toward the Hyrulian King, his sword drawn and his eyes matching the Gerudo's.

Ganon's grasp loosens when light blue meets a vibrant reddish-yellow.

"Link..." Red eyebrows are knitted together in confusion, as if the sight before him was for sore eyes and grieving hearts. It had been weeks since they had seen one another, three long weeks since the King had announced to him that the knight had fallen in combat.

What combat? He'd thought. Link hadn't mentioned going into battle for the kingdom and yet he'd passed on there? On a battlefield? Without being recovered? It was foolish. The man he knew was stronger than that, more determined than that. He was the boy of legend and yet he'd been defeated doing his knightly duty? No.

However, he'd believed it. In his broken state, he had believed the lies spouting from the King's lips, lies that had led him to this exact moment.

With his hands around The King's throat but his own lungs the ones struggling for breath.
