OK, rewind to 2 months earlier, before all the heartache, back to a time where nothing mattered except to have fun, a time distantly in the past.

Kagome Higurashi let out a long sigh as the complicated math problems swirled around in her head like a large mass of storm clouds.

"Ughhh," she groaned aloud. "I'm going to fail the test for sure this time. There is no hope for me."

With that, she finally claimed resignation and flopped out on her desk. This visit back was useless after all. Tomorrow I will go back to the Feudal Era, and help Inuyasha find more jewel shards. Inuyasha---he must me brimming with impatience by now. I can't wait to see him.

"Kagome! Kagoooooommeee! Wake up Kagome!"

"Huh?" Kagome mumbled sleepily, only half awake and not fully conscious.

Inuyasha's head popped up in front of her, and she was jerked awake. "Inuyasha? What are you doing here?" she asked, genuinely surprised.

"Well…" Inuyasha looked down as he shuffled his feet. "I'm just here to tell you-er-that I'm going on an important…mission of sorts."

"Oh really? Did you discover Naraku's whereabouts? Don't worry I was just about to go back and help you!"

"Wait. No, Kagome. You don't understand." Inuyasha had a funny look on his face. What was he up to? "You see, I have to go alone…and I might not be back for awhile."

"What? Why? We will all go and help you." replied Kagome, eyeing Inuyasha skeptically.

Inuyasha just shook his head uncomfortably. "I really need to get going now, Kagome. I just came by to tell you, is all. Don't worry about me, you just stay here and go to your "school". I'll come back and get you when I'm done."

"I'm really curious. But okay then. I guess….good luck then…come back soon." Kagome said, thoroughly confused.

Does he want to defeat Naraku all by himself because of his pride or something? What a fool, but I trust him. Just hope he comes back soon.

"Well, bye Kagome."

"Bye Inuyasha."

That was the first event. That was when it all started. Now, thinking back, Kagome cursed herself for being so foolish. Why did she let him go? She could have asked him to stay, she should have begged, even. Why? Why didn't I sense that something was wrong? she thought. Then Kagome Higurashi sat down---and cried her heart out.
