Chapter 13
Beth smiled lightly to herself as she checked her phone, a sweet message from Enid. She knew that today was a big day after all, Sophia was finally going back to school. She hoped things were going well; but reassured herself that if she didn't hear about it from Carol or the Grimes, her girlfriend would tell her. Taking a moment to consider she replied to Enid and sent the message before putting her phone away and gathered up what she needed, checking her watch. As she did so however a curt voice came from behind her.
"Just typical. Lazing around on your phone, you stupid girl."
She rolled her eyes, turning to face Pete Anderson who stood, glaring at her.
"I'm on break, as you well know, besides I don't see how what I'm doing is any of your business, Doctor Anderson." She snarked back.
She made sure to put the special emphasis on his title as doctor, to show just what she thought of that.
Predictably he flared up. "Excuse me, you watch your tone, girl. You do not talk to me like that, you-"
"Dr. Anderson!"
The sharp whip of a voice startled both Beth and Pete. They turned to see the head doctor approaching, glaring.
"Ah sir, I-" Pete began, as if nothing had happened.
But it was clear from the head doctor's expression that he had seen and heard enough.
Glowering as he stepped up to Pete, the head doctor shook his head.
"Enough." He snapped. "I saw what you just did, heard you."
Pete had the audacity to look confused. "What, sir, I don't know what you-?"
"What gives you the right to treat Ms. Greene that way, you know full well she is one of our hardest working and most skilled interns." He growled. "Yet you treat that way."
"What, sir, she's a-"
"A what?" The head doctor growled, warningly.
Pete grimaced, suddenly feeling rather awkward. Beth looked between the two anxiously before wondering if she should speak up.
Finally she did. "Sir, he-"
Pete turned to her, glaring. "Excuse me, don't you dare interrupt me, I-"
"Will watch your tone when talking to Ms. Greene." The head doctor warned him. "Now be quiet. Continue Ms. Greene."
Beth nodded. "He simply harassed me here, as I was on break and answering a message from my girlfriend."
"Oh and let's not forget that, a 'girlfriend'…" Pete began.
"You might want to think carefully before continuing that statement." The head doctor told him. "Do I need to talk to the other nurses and interns to see if you've been harassing them too?"
Pete tensed while Beth sighed.
"He's definitely been harassing me and Nurse Cloyd, ever since Sophia Peletier was brought in." Beth explained. "Just because we were able to help her and he couldn't."
"I could easily have taken care of that girl. You just had to get in my way." Pete scoffed.
The Head Doctor shook his head. "No, you couldn't, no male doctor or nurse could get near her. So…"
Beth grimaced at the expression on Pete's face, she just hoped it would be the end of this nonsense.

Meanwhile, Rick smiled lightly as he entered the living room. He had a rare day off and was planning to spend it with Michonne. He carried the plate of food through to Michonne, to satisfy the latest bout of pregnancy cravings.
"Here we are." He said jovially.
Michonne smiled and took the plate from him before Rick sat down next to Michonne as she began to eat.
"Thanks." She said. "Still can't believe things have come so far, it just feels like so long since...Well, you know."
Rick grinned. "Yeah, I do. You're right. Still, I can hardly wait, this is going to be wonderful."
They lapsed into a happy silence after this. Considering for a moment, Michonne grinned and moved closer to Rick, head resting on his shoulder.
"You know...yesterday, while you were at work, I had another scan to confirm." She paused, knowing she had his attention. "It's a boy."
Rick smiled widely at that, pulling her tighter against him, they both grinned at each other and kissed softly before Rick spoke up.
"That's wonderful, I can't wait to tell the kids."
They both laughed, looking forward to Carl and Judith's reactions when they learned they were going to be having a baby brother.
