Chapter 15

Beth smiled as she finished changing, she was getting ready to head around to Enid's house. Now that she finally had some time off they were going to have a simple movie date together. Since it was still going to be a casual sort of date she didn't need her best clothes, but still wanted to at least look nice. As such she pulled on her cute white blouse and fresh jeans, but still stuck with her usual boots. Tying her hair back in a ponytail she readied herself and soon was ready with everything she'd need before heading out. Her father wasn't home as he'd gone to visit her sister Maggie and Maggie's husband Glenn and their baby. As such she didn't have her usual talk with her dad before going out, but she took it in stride.

'Maggie and Glenn understand, I need to have this night with Enid.' She reflected. 'Not only that, they already know I'll be around to see little Hershel soon, I agreed to babysit next Saturday.'

Smiling at that she left the house and began making her way from the family farm to Enid's home, hopping into her truck and driving away. The truck was old, like a lot of things on the Greene farm, but she loved it dearly and it still ran well, so she saw no need to replace it.

At her own home, Enid bit her lip as she checked herself in the mirror.

'It's just a casual date, yeah. But still, gotta make at least some effort.' She told herself.

Grinning she smoothed down the black Radiohead T-shirt she wore, that went well with her black skinny jeans and simple sneakers. Finishing brushing her hair and making sure it was straight and smooth she left it loose and made her way from her room heading downstairs. Her parents were out for the night and so she and Beth would have the house to themselves. Entering the living room, Enid smiled as she set up the snacks and the sofa, all ready for their movie date. This of course also included setting up the movies they'd planned to watch.

As she did this she smiled. 'I just, can't believe Beth and I have been doing so well. I mean, it's so cool. Her dad is actually pretty cool with it, I thought, being so old he might...but no.'

She had been amazed and delighted with old Hershel Greene's open-mindedness. It certainly put her at ease and made her more confident in revealing the relationship with Beth to her own parents. They'd already known about her sexuality so now it came time to reveal she was dating. They had reacted well and really liked Beth. They were a little wary about the age gap, but didn't really have any issues beyond that. There was a knock at the door and she grinned, heading to answer it, knowing it was Beth.

She paused at the door, trying to contain herself, not to seem too eager. She then opened the door and sure enough there was Beth, smiling widely.

"Hey." She greeted her.

Enid stepped back, letting her girlfriend in. "Hey yourself."

Entering the house Beth grinned as she took in Enid's outfit while the younger girl closed the door.

"I see we had the same idea, wanting to look nice but remain casual huh?" Beth remarked.

Enid shrugged. "Yeah, seems so. You do look nice."

"So do you." Beth said cheerfully. "Radiohead, huh?"

Enid laughed. "Yeah, so?"

Beth shook her head. "No it's good, I like it. Now, let's get down to the movies huh?"

"You bet."

With that they linked arms and made their way into the living room where Beth finally saw the work Enid had done setting things up and her grin widened.

"Wow, nice, you took all this effort for me?" She queried.

Enid returned the grin, leaning closer. "You bet I did, babe."

With that their lips met and after a soft kiss, they made their way to the sofa and got settled in, fixing the blankets over themselves and grabbing the snacks to set up within arms reach and finally Enid hit the play button on the remote to start the movie and they settled in to enjoy themselves.

By around the halfway mark of the second movie, Enid was snuggled up against Beth, almost asleep while Beth held Enid, smiling warmly as they basked in the delightful peaceful moment. Beth had to admit that things had certainly changed and become much more dramatic since Sophia had returned. But to Beth's relief, the girl she had seen being brought into hospital in such a terrible state was now slowly but surely putting her life back together. She was back in school, was working through the issues she still had. It certainly gave a feeling of hope, despite the fact that there was nothing about what she had escaped from, nothing about her father. That side of the case was no further forwards, but truthfully, things were getting better and the police, Rick especially, hadn't given up on seeking answers and trying to resolve the case. But Sophia still wasn't ready to talk, which hampered things.

'They're still doing what they can, that's the main thing.' She thought to herself.

With that she turned her attention back to her girlfriend who smiled up at her.

"You were thinking about Sophia and the case again, weren't you?" Enid queried. "I could practically hear your brain going so fast."

Beth just laughed softly and tightened her grip on Enid, resting her head on top of hers. What mattered right now was this, and she was going to enjoy and savour every moment of it as the second movie continued. She briefly wondered if Enid was going to actually make it to the end of this movie and see the third one, or if she'd fall asleep, as she was clearly close to doing so.

End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
