Chapter 27

"So that's when Uncle RJ was born?"

Nodding Carl, now twenty-nine, replied. "That's right Andrea."

"Wow…" She whispered.

Andrea was like Sophia in miniature, the cute blonde six year old had been curious about how her parents had met. She's asked a few times before but this time, despite her parents misgivings, she had been insistent on hearing everything, every detail, knowing they'd been hiding things, namely that matter involving the Claimers. Sophia, also twenty-nine now, made her way from where she had been seated next to Carl, to join their daughter, hugging her.

"I'm sorry if that was a bit much, sweetie." She said gently.

Andrea shook her head. "It's okay, I asked."

Carl sighed, raising an eyebrow at Sophia when their gazes met, their daughter was far too smart for her age. They still couldn't believe that it had been thirteen years since then.

"So, after that, those bad men…?" Andrea queried.

Carl nodded. "They ended up in jail, they're still their today."

Andrea smiled. "Good."

Sophia smiled too. "After your uncle was born, it was just a case of your father and I getting our lives back together. It took a while for us to truly overcome everything. But we were finally married and together eight years ago."

"Then I came two years after that?" Andrea chimed in with a beam.

They both laughed and nodded while Carl looked up at the clock.

"Ah, well, we've been talking for much longer, it's after your bed time long lady." He remarked.

Andrea sighed. "Okay daddy."

Sophia gently guided her daughter up. "Let's go sweetie, I'll help you get ready."

Andrea nodded enthusiastically and left the living room with her mother while Carl moved over to the window and looked out at the street at night. It was amazing to think that thirteen years had really passed, they'd finally pulled their lives together and now they had told their story to their daughter at long last.
