Claw wasn't exactly a company.

The Suzuki Conglomerate, however, was and that meant that it was ok to plan a big company outing. Just for Tokyo HQ, if she had everyone in every single branch and Division of Claw go on an outings at once then no work could get done. Tokyo HQ would have their outing first and then all of the Divisions in order of number. That seemed fair. She just had to figure out what they would be doing. She knew what she wanted to do, go to Disneyland, but her idea of fun might not have lined up with everyone else's. Claw was mostly boys after all, and mostly boys who were older than her too, so it was important to get everyone's input…

Well, not everyone's.

The poll had been all over the place. Maybe putting in a space for 'other' had been a bad idea. Everyone had their own idea of where they wanted to go. Their ideas went from easy, like the beach, to kind of complicated, like a spa in the mountains, and also there was stuff that was just…probably impossible, like building an underwater vacation village. Also some people wanted to go to places that Mob wasn't even sure of. She didn't know what was so special about Kabuki-cho but Minegishi had warned her never to go there so it must have been really boring. It was hard to plan something that would make everyone, from the upper echelons to the Awakened happy, but she was going to try.

That was what this meeting was for.

"Ok, so the options for the Tokyo HQ company outing are Disney World, a beach in Okinawa, Lego Land-" said Mob as she went over the list of places she had come up with. Well her and Serizawa, and Joseph a little bit too. He had said that he wanted to help and she didn't see why not…though going to Osaka for hockey didn't seem like it would have been that much fun…but then again she might have just not wanted to go because Shiori lived there…

This was why meetings were important. Mob could be kind of selfish, sometimes, when she planned trips and stuff.

"Nara Dreamland! Just putting ideas out there. I used to go when I was a kid and it was a pretty good time." Said Ebiwara, raising his hand even though he didn't have to. This wasn't school, this was a meeting, and also he was a Division leader. The second division may not have been the biggest but that didn't mean it was any less important than the others, or Tokyo HQ its self.

Everyone mattered in Claw.

"Did you get that?" whispered Mob to Serizawa. Nara Dreamland…she had never heard of it. That was going to be important for research later. Serizawa could help her with that. He was taking the minutes of the meeting now…she leaned over. She couldn't really read it that well, Serizawa said that he had trouble with strokes because he'd spent so many years typing instead of writing, but that was ok. He was trying his best and that was what mattered.

No matter how little your job was you still mattered in Claw.

"It closed down, stupid!" said Yanagawa loudly. Mob didn't know why he shouted like that, they were all sitting around the same table, and anyway everyone ranked about the same. He didn't have to yell to be heard…and people shouldn't have had to yell so people of other ranks should have listened to them in the first place. She wondered if she could fix that…but then how could there be Claw without ranks? Dad had said that a clear power structure was the key to success…but then again Dad wasn't the one sitting at the head of the table.

She was.

"What? When did it close down? How could it have closed down? Nara Dreamland is a national treasure!" said Ebiwara, slamming both hands down onto the table. The other Division leaders gave him a look. Joseph clicked his tongue…this meeting was starting to get away from her…

She couldn't let that happen.

"Let's all try and stay calm, ok?" asked Mob. Dad would have just thrown him out with his powers or something…but that was mean and Mob didn't want to be mean…but she did have to put a stop to this before this meeting turned into a fight. It wasn't exactly safe to have all of these Division leaders in one place but it was the best way to have this meeting. Hatori wasn't around to make sure that nobody could get mad and log off on Skype. Also Dad said that in person meetings were the best kind even though it took a long time to fly people all the way to Tokyo. Everyone was tired and cranky.

Maybe she needed to be just a little bossier.

"I…may have gotten a little overly excited. It's just that Nara dreamland is the best amusement park in all of Japan, maybe even the world." Said Ebiwara

"What's Nara Dreamland?" asked Mob. She hadn't ever heard of that place before, and she had been to a lot of amusement parks.

"The best amusement park in the world." Said Yanagawa. Next to him Sakakibara shook his head and elbowed him in the side.

Mob slid his chair backwards.

Suddenly everyone was silent. The room, which had earlier been filled with the sound of seven division leaders muttering to each other, was now quiet period the only thing she could hear was Serizawa's pen scratching against the notebook in his lap. She didn't know what Serizawa was writing, the room was silent, maybe he was writing down all the silence? She had heard that expression before, the sound of silence, but…well it mostly just sounded like breathing…

It felt weird though.

Everyone was looking at her. She could feel their auras…it was weird. Their auras felt…scared? Buy why would they have been scared of her? She wasn't going to hurt them, she had just been trying to stop them from hurting each other….but they were used to Dad. She looked at each and everyone one of them…that was a scared look, right? She couldn't always tell, even with auras, and some of them…well the mask that Ishiguro wore didn't help matters. She looked at Serizawa, he was still writing. He deifntely felt scared but that was normal for him. She turned her attention to Joseph. He just looked up from his phone and smiled at her.

Ok, so at least one person in this room wasn't scared of her. That was a good start.

"You guys don't have to be scared of me, I'm not Dad. I just don't want you guys to hurt each other, ok?" said Mob. Everyone started to nod and say 'ok'…perfect. Now that they had gotten all of that out of the way they could get back to what might have been the most important meeting in all of Claw's history! Even more important than the meeting about double dessert Thursdays.

"I-I'm not scared of you, Miss Suzuki!" said Serizawa loudly. Mob patted the top of his hand.

"I know, Serizawa, that was mostly for everyone else." Said Mob. She heard someone mutter something about pets…she would have a separate meeting about pets. Dad had a not pets rule, which Mob thought was unfair, but she could admit that a lot of the Awakened and other Claw members were kind of…not the most responsible people. They couldn't even be trusted with wheely chairs or vending machines…

More meetings for other days.

"Ok, now that we're off the subject of amusement parks-" said Tamaki. Mob wasn't sure if they were off the subject or not. Dad usually decided, in meetings, what the subject was…and Mob didn't want to be bossy…but then again she was the boss. She was more the boss than Tamaki was, Vice President ranked higher than first division leader, but…but also ranks maybe shouldn't have meant anything. They were all friends here.

Or at least she wanted them to be.

"Who said that we were done with Amusement parks?" asked Ebiwara

"Can we please talk about something else? The third Division would like to-" said Sakakibara

"Are museums an option? Because there's a Ghibli Museum that I've been meaning to go to." Said Ebiwara

"Ebiwara! Can you please stay on task for once? How you made Division leader I'll never know…" said Sakakibara

"Hey, hey, let's all be nice to one another. We're all friends here…at least I hope so…and we can go to museums if that's what people want. Ok, let's add museums to the list of places. Did you get that part, Serizawa?" asked Mob

"No! I mean yes! I mean…I mean I'm doing my best." Said Serizawa, writing very quickly. So quickly that she had to put her hand over his before he wore a hole in the paper. More staring…she didn't see why everyone had to stare at her. She wasn't scaring anyone? Right? She didn't think that she was scary…but then again Dad didn't think that he was scary either.

"Your best is more than good enough, please don't be scared….I'm not trying to be scary." Said Mob

"You-you're not! You're-" said Serizawa

"Vice President Suzuki, I hate to be the bearer of bad news…especially with what happened to the last bearer of bad news-" said Tamaki. Mob turned around so fast that her hair hit Serizawa in the face. She'd apologize for it later.

"He's ok, I got him out of the hole." Said Mob quickly. She had gotten everyone out of the traitor holes. It was very important that people knew that traitor holes weren't a thing anymore. Dad sent people there for timeout but he just…forgot…sometimes. That was it. He just forgot like the time Mom had forgotten her in time out for two hours back when she'd been little.

"And he thanks you for that, I'm sure he does, but don't you think that we have…other things to prioritize?" asked Tamaki. All the Division leaders nodded. Mob flipped through her own notebook….oh, right, she did have other things she had wanted to talk about…but maybe this wasn't the right time for all of that.

"Like the Christmas party? I think that's important too but Halloween is closer and I think that we should do a Halloween outing first and then we can worry about Christmas." Said Mob

"No. I was thinking more along the lines of the uprising. We still don't even have the location finalized-" said Tamaki

"The Seventh Division would be ideal. We currently produce the greatest number of Awakened Soldiers and the Scars are-" said Ishiguro

"That's still a long time away, we have important things happening before then. I was thinking, too, that we could have one big birthday party a month for everyone instead of a bunch of little ones. That way everyone feels special." Said Mob. She knew that interrupting was mean and all but fighting was even worse. Everyone was always asking her about the uprising. She didn't know where it was going to happen, she didn't know when it was going to happen, and she didn't really care all that much….well she did care, she wanted a world where espers and normal people could be friends just as much as everyone else did, but she had her priorities in order.

What was the point of world domination if people couldn't have fun?

"Vice President Suzuki, if I may-" said Tamaki

"Maybe monthly company outings, too, people would like that." Said Joseph. Mob turned and smiled at him. That was perfect! Finally, someone in that room had their priorities in order.

"Why are you here? Aren't you just on the Foreigner Squad?" asked Furutachi

"Please be nice to each other. I know that the fourth Division outranks the foreigner squad but that doesn't mean that you get to be mean to Joseph. Here's here because he wanted to be and he's lonely and doesn't have a lot of friends." Said Mob. Joseph slumped his shoulders and took a drag off of his cigarette. She could tell that his feelings were hurt. People should have been nicer to her friends.

People should have been nicer to everyone.

She hadn't ever spent much time with the Division leaders before. She had thought, though, that all of the Divisions worked like it did with her friends. Everyone liked each other and hung out and had fun and stuff…the way things used to be with her friends…but that wasn't how it was. Everyone fought and were mean to one another.

She was going to have to fix that.

"Please say sorry." Said Mob. That was a start. Everyone looked at one another, and then at her, and then at Joseph. She was glad that nobody looked at Serizawa, he would have gotten all freaked out and then…well nothing good ever happened when he freaked out. She would have probably had to do that thing, too, where she absorbed his extra energy. That always felt weird, she didn't like doing that unless she absolutely had to.

"I'm….I'm sorry." Said Furutachi. Everyone was still staring…why? She knew that she was being bossy but Dad would have been even worse.

"OK, let's get back to work. So if Nara Dreamland is closed down then we can't go to it, because it'll be closed down, but the Ghibli museum sounds fun too…and now I really don't know what to do….but I do like the idea about every month we have a big, Claw wide, outing. Everyone will be so happy and also maybe if other espers see how much fun we have then they'll want to join us. So I think that part's a good idea…but I don't know how to decide. Do you guys have any ideas?" asked Mob

"You're asking us?" asked Tamaki

"Yes. I just did. So if anyone has an ideas I'd like to hear them now…or you can text me later if you don't want to talk. Not everyone likes public speaking." Said Mob. She looked at Serizawa when she said that. He wasn't good at being in a crowd let alone talking in one…and other people might have felt the same way…maybe she should have looked at everyone at once when she'd said that.

They were all certainly looking at her.

"Do you all want to just text me later? You can if you want to but please don't wait too long because it's already October and before we know it it'll be Halloween and I really, really, really want everyone to have a nice time." Said Mob. Still nobody was talking. It was quiet. Nearly silent. The only thing she could hear was Ishiguro breathing into her mask…that didn't sound good at all…

The sound of silence was never a good one.

"We could…we could…" said Serizawa

"You don't have to say anything now, I know how you don't like talking in front of new people." Said Mob

"I…I can do this. I was just thinking that…that maybe we could have a deciding hat? Like we do for movie nights, I mean…and also it might be fun to have a movie night with everyone…but maybe not because now I think about it we won't all fit into one room and there's no way that we'll all agree on the movie and if we end up watching something that Sho likes then we'll be scared and also Hatori and the President won't be there, well and Fukuda too but he doesn't like movie nights, and…and it's not good to leave people out and-" said Serizawa. Mob put her hand over his. He was shaking. His aura was bright purple. People were either scooting away from him or staring, Joseph even seemed scared…which wasn't good because he was a very new friend….well it wouldn't have been good anyway…

But Serizawa hadn't exploded, so it was ok.

"That's a good idea, Serizawa. Ok, by tomorrow I want everyone to have…um…two ideas for the hat and then that's how I'll pick. I'll let you guys go now since Serizawa's upset. See you tomorrow." Said Mob before she pushed her chair away and got up. That let everyone else know that it was ok to get up. Dad had told her that…though maybe she should have just let people get up whenever they wanted.

There were a lot of rules.

Some rules were important, like the one about Mukai not being allowed to leave the house on her own or the one about nobody being allowed to have citrus in her house because otherwise Sho would die. Also chair jousting. It was fun but with Fukuda gone to wherever it was that he'd went it was too dangerous. Rules could be important…or they could just be Dad trying to be bossy.

He made a lot of those kinds of rules, too.

Like when she had been really little and he made up a rule about not being able to talk at the table unless he talked to them first. Or the other time when he had made up the rule about her and Sho only being allowed to play quietly in the house. Or even the time when he'd decided that they weren't allowed to talk in that house at all…that rule hadn't lasted long, none of his had, Mom had put things back to normal as soon as he left. She had the power, back then, to change the rules…and Mob had the power to do so now…

Things were going to be very different around here.

She was going to make things fun around here. Then everyone would be happy and they'd make friends with each other and…and things would be better. if she couldn't fix things at home, with herself, then she could fix things here. She had already lost two friends…both of which had been her fault. Dad had left and taken Hatori with him because of what Mob did…and he had reassigned Shimazaki for the same reason. If things had been normal then she wouldn't have been in charge…and if she had been then all of her friends would have followed her back to her, Dad's, her office. Not just one.

Wait, no, two now.

"Well that went well." Said Joseph as she opened the door to her office. It was empty. Minegishi was so mad at her that they were avoiding her…but that was ok, she had her friends here with her and…and maybe not all of her friends but…but it was her own fault and…and at least she had two friends with her now.

Two was better than none.

"I…I think so too…um…I…think so." said Serizawa. Mob pulled his chair out for him. He practically ran over to it. Joseph walked a lot slower, he always walked slowly. He kept his hands in his pockets a lot too, while he walked, even though if he fell down then he would have gotten really hurt.

"That was a great idea, by the way." Said Joseph. Serizawa nodded and looked down. Mob patted him on the shoulder as she passed him. That had been a lot for him, he was tired now. She could tell. It was hard for him being away from home like this but they didn't have a choice…well they did…but she didn't want to leave him all alone….

Or maybe she just didn't want to be all alone.

"Thank you…but it wasn't my idea. Miss Suzuki had the idea for the hat before I even met her…so I kind of just borrowed from her…" said Serizawa

"Well it's still a good idea, it's not like any of those guys were going to come up with anything better." said Joseph. He really was a good friend. He was a new friend but he was a good one already. He was even making friends with Serizawa. It had taken a while for everyone to even get used to him when he first came…actually everyone had been mad at her…even though she still didn't see what was wrong. Everyone loved making new friends.

What could have been better than making new friends?

"It really was a good idea, Serizawa, and I'm happy that you spoke in front of everyone." Said Mob. Making the friends you already had happy. That was what was better…it was close, though. Serizawa was smiling and his aura felt happy…it was a good feeling, not like when he freaked out and stuff.

"Really?" asked Serizawa, his aura getting a little brighter.

"Of course. And I don't mind, too, that it used to be my idea. You kind of made it your own, too, so it's ok." Said Mob. She didn't think that he could have gotten any happier but he had…it felt good. At least one of her friends was happy with her. He was even smiling. He looked nice when he smiled…well he always looked nice but when he smiled he looked extra nice.

"I…I didn't look at it like that. Thank you, Miss Suzuki." Said Serizawa. He squeezed her hand. She give his another squeeze. That always made him feel better. It had been hard for him, she imagined, the way he'd been all alone in his room. Nobody to hug him or hold his hand or…or anything. She couldn't imagine what that must have been like. She'd always had Sho. Mom had stopped hugging her after a while…but Sho had been there…and Dad, too, later on.

"You're welcome, Serizawa and if you ever have any ideas you can tell me when people aren't around, since that might be easier for you. I don't want you to be upset or anything like that. You're my friend." Said Mob. If only all of her friends were this easy. Serizawa exploded sometimes, had trouble leaving the house most of the time, and he didn't always change pajamas as often as he should have but he was her easiest friend to be friends with. Minegishi was mad at her, Shimazaki was…it was very complicated with him, Hatori was on the other side of the world, Shibata had sided with Tsuchiya, and Tsuchiya was trying to rip her family apart. The only people who she could even hang out with right now were Serizawa and Sho…

Oh, and Joseph.

He was watching her. She wondered if he was jealous….she didn't want him to be. She should have made more of an effort to include him. He was her friend now, and he didn't have any of his own either. That was a big problem in Claw. She had no idea how there could have been thousands and thousands of people either a part of Claw or related to it but so few of them could have had friends…well Dad wasn't actually good at making a friendly atmosphere. She wasn't good at reading the atmosphere but Dad was even worse at making one. She loved him a lot but…but he wasn't a friendly person…

But she was.

Everyone was going to be friends. That was what she was going to do with her life. Dad had told her the story of Claw, how one day when he was thirteen he realized that he was meant to rule the world. Well now Mob knew what she was meant to do. She was going to make the world a better place by making everyone be friends…or at least friendlier. She couldn't force people to be friends but she could…she could make things easier. She could make sure, at least, that all of Claw had at least one friend…and then when the world became a part of Claw…well she could make even more people be friends. Yes…that was what she was going to do.

She was going to make the world a better place, one company meeting at a time.
