"Room service!" Nashi opened the door to see Thomas with breakfast for her.
"Thank you." Nashi said as she took the food. "Here, I have a tip for you." She said as she reached in her pocket.
"No thank you, ma'am." Thomas said as he pulled out his gum from his mouth. "I still have some from the other day." He thought he was going to give her more gum, but she actually pulled out money.
"No tip? Okay." Nashi said. Thomas was asking her to wait, but she already closed the door on him. Nashi is having a lot of fun at this hotel and with the staff. After she had breakfast, she got dressed and headed down to the lobby. As she got off the elevator, Mr. Von Graham spotted her.
"Miss Dragneel!" Von Graham called with delight as she went to speak with her. "I do hope you're enjoying your stay at the hotel. Curtesy of the hotel, we have you a limo and a pizza to take you around New York."
"Thank you. I never rode in a limo before." Nashi said.
"Well, I simply want to make things right with your family." Von Graham said. "I was simply checking to make sure everything was to your liking. I didn't mean to see your mother in that position."
"I understand, but she doesn't see it like that." Nashi said.
"I see..." Von Graham said feeling guilty. "Where is she? I like to express my condolences."
"I don't think that's a great idea." Nashi said. "She was pretty embarrassed. She couldn't believe a staff member of this great hotel would do something like that. My daddy is consoling her, but he's pretty upset about it as well. Would you want to see the guy who tried to sneak a peak at you or your wife?"
"No... I suppose not." Von Graham said.
"I don't think you'll be seeing them for the rest of the trip. Bye." Nashi said and left the place. Von Graham tried acting friendly about it, but he still had his suspicions about her. That's why he decided to check something else out. As for Nashi, she got inside the hotel and she loved it. There was pizza, snacks, and a television for her. She couldn't believe she's never been in a limo until today.
"Where to?" The driver asked.
"I don't know. Know any good toy stores?" Nashi asked.
"Yes, the best in the whole city." The driver said as he started driving towards it. The driver took her to a store called Copper's Toy Chest. The place was pretty popular. It all looked incredible. As much fun as Nashi would have, it was soon going to go downhill. Von Graham did a little investigation on the card Nashi used to check herself in. He smiled with delight when he saw it was reported stolen. He has her now.
...
Copper's Toy Chest
Copper's Toy Chest was one of the best toy stores around. They had almost every toy and they had decorations and accessories that kids loved. However, no matter how nice it is, there are a few bad toys in there now. Mard Geer and Jackal walked in the place and acted like regular customers.
"I don't get it. Why would we rob this place?" Jackal asked.
"Look around, Jackal. What do you see?" Mard Geer said.
"Uh... A bunch of toys, the Christmas decorations, practically everything you need to run a successful store..." Jackal listed.
"No!" Mard Geer said with annoyance. "I'm talking about the people. Look how many people are here. With so many people, there is bound to be so much money for the store. With it being close to that time of the year, this store is making tons of money. Especially since we have that." He pointed to a chest that was filled with money. "With all the money, we'll be able to get all that we need."
"Oh... This is why you're the leader." Jackal said.
"Come. We better find a place to hide when the store closes." Mard Geer said as the two of them went further into the store. As for Nashi, she did some shopping of her own. Once she bought a few toys, she headed over to the cashier where a nice looking elderly man was.
"Did you find everything you need?" The man asked as he was registering all of the toys Nashi bought.
"I sure did." Nashi said. As he was scanning all her stuff through the register, she spotted the chest full of money. "What's that about?"
"Right here." The man said as he pulled out a sign and showed all the money was for a charity.
"Money for the children's hospital?" Nashi said.
"Yes. Mr. Alvin Copper does this every year." The man said.
"Alvin Copper? Is he the man that owns this store?" Nashi asked.
"Yes. Mr. Copper loves children." The man said. "He took that love to open this store to make them all happy. As for those at the hospital, he does this charity drive for them since they could be celebrating the holidays in the hospital. All the money is for the hope that they all get better soon."
"That's really nice. I never met anyone who would do so much just for kids." Nashi said as she was touched by what she was just told. It probably wouldn't be any fun celebrating Christmas in a hospital. She reached out and pulled some money. "Here. Take the money for the hospital. I don't really need the toys." Having a change of heart, she forgot the toys and gave the money for another reason. She handed the money for the hospital with the old man impressed with how much she was giving.
"Thank you... That's awfully nice of you." The man said as he was most impressed a little girl was donating a lot of money. "I'll tell you what. You see this tree?" He said as he pointed to the small Christmas tree on the desk.
"Yeah..." Nashi said.
"For your generous donation, I'll let you have an ornament from that tree." The man said.
"Really?!" Nashi said as she liked the sound of that. "I'm glad to see somebody using an actual Christmas tree, even if it's a small one. My parents weren't planning to use an actual tree, even if we are on vacation."
"Oh.. You need a tree on Christmas." The man said. "This is nothing. You should see the giant tree in Rockefeller Center. Anyway, go ahead an pick an ornament." Nashi had a look around the tree and tried to find one that she liked. Her eyes spotted the one shaped like a bird.
"That white one. The one that looks like the bird." Nashi said.
"The turtledove?" The man said with Nashi confirming it. "A great choice if I do say so myself." He said as he took the turtledove ornament. In fact, he took two of them off the tree. "Here."
"Wait. You said I could only take one. Why are you giving me two?" Nashi asked.
"Well, you have to take both of them." The man said.
"I do?" Nashi questioned.
"Yes. The two of them go together." The man said. "Here's what you do with them. You keep one turtledove for yourself and give the other to a friend. As long as you both have your turtledoves, it means that you will be friends forever." Nashi loved the sound of that. She gladly took both turtledoves and hopes she can find the right person to give one.
"Thank you." Nashi said.
"You be careful now." The man said. Nashi was on her way out until she looked up and saw portrait of Alvin Copper. It was a picture of the same man she just talked to. She was surprised to see it was the same person. She turned to him. He gave her a wink before he walked off himself. Nashi was amazed. Things seem to be going well for Nashi, but it's going to go downhill from here.
