"Justin? Are you in there?" a girl's voice said.
Of course, he wanted to be alone. Aiko left him and he still couldn't get over it.
"Justin? Please don't make me let myself in." she said again.
He still didn't answer. It was probably against policy, but she used the master keycard and allowed herself inside. He turned around and saw Lailani standing there. She knew he was upset.
"What do you want, Lailani?" he said, not too happy about the situation.
"I just came to check on you. You seemed very upset when you stormed out of the lobby earlier. Is everything alright?"
Justin thought to himself. He should really try not to lash out at Lailani. It wasn't her fault. She didn't know Aiko was lying to her when she checked out. He decided to speak.
"No, nothing's alright, Lailani. Aiko ditched me and took $600 from me. I have just barely enough left to buy a few plane tickets for a flight back home. My heart hurts... My head hurts... EVERYTHING hurts."
She walked up to him and gave him a big hug. She imagined how horrible he felt.
"I am so sorry, Justin. I feel very bad. But, I did ask Mrs. Belrose if I could take a day off to spend with you. We're all worried about you, her included. So, I'm off right now and I brought my oils with me."
This didn't seem right. She didn't have to drop everything she was doing just to see him.
"Lailani, you didn't have to do that. Heck, I wish you didn't. Sarah would probably scare off the customers if she worked at the front desk for even a day. It would be bad for business."
"It's not just her, it's Mrs. Belrose too. She's actually paying me for taking time off to help a friend."
He didn't know how to feel. The fact that Brooke is giving her a paid day off just to help him was almost unreal.
"T-Thank you, Lailani. I appreciate you and everyone else here."
"It's no problem, Justin. But, I have my oils here and I'll teach you the proper way to consume them." she said while grabbing some weird vials out of her bag.
"So, before I choose one to drink, what are these, exactly?" he asked.
"They're special oils that can only be found in the deep jungles of Inna De Poona. Once consumed, you will be asleep for a good 20 hours but you'll wake up feeling better with whatever problem you took it for."
This sounded kind of weird. It was like some exotic drugs were being grown in the jungles of Inna De Poona. That would probably explain why one of them was for erectile dysfunction.
"So, which one do you want? I have one for anger, anxiety, depression, hunger, and uh... The other one." she finished in a nervous tone. He knew she was talking about the one for erectile dysfunction.
"I don't know. I can mostly handle depression, my anger isn't a huge problem right now, I'm trying to diet right now, and my penis is okay."
"Well, you should choose carefully. The bad thing about them is that you can only have one a month. Consuming two or more might have irreversible side effects."
This was a tough decision. He was so torn between the anxiety one and the depression one. He then made his choice.
"You know what? I'll choose the one for anxiety."
She smiled. It seemed like the perfect choice to her.
"Good choice. I'm actually going to take one for anxiety too."
Wasn't it supposed to put the person to sleep for 20 hours? Seemed like Lailani wanted to sleep with him. There was no complaining here.
"Um, okay. So, how do you consume it?" he asked.
"First thing you do is open the vial, then you say anxiety not society three times, drink it but wait a few seconds before swallowing."
How corny was this? There was magic words for this to work? But, even if it was corny, he trusted her. They did it at the same time.
One, two, three: "Anxiety not society, anxiety not society, anxiety not society."
Yeah, this was stupid. But, they said it three times, drank it and waited 5 seconds before swallowing. The oil going down his throat felt warm. It was almost like cough syrup but not as nasty.
"Now what?" he asked her.
"Now, we get in bed and wait to fall asleep."
Lailani, this was so explicit, especially for you. But, he went in bed and laid down. She took her flip flops off and joined him. She put her arm around him. Either this was just some trap for sex or cuddling or there was a reason for this.
"So, why the arm?" he asked.
"You'll see." she said. It sounded like she was already dozing off. He felt the same after another minute.
They fell asleep, still curled up to each other. The next thing he knew, he was in a dream. Wait, was he lucid dreaming?
"What the heck?" he said. He then saw Lailani.
"Hi." she casually said. This weirded him out so much.
"Lailani, what the heck happened? Did that oil you give me put me into a lucid dream?"
"Yep. You knew lucid dreaming was one of my specialties. Well, here we are."
"So, what is this? What do I do?"
"Not what do you do, but what CAN you do. Think of something that makes you happy and it will appear. You have control of this dream."
This was so freaky sharing a very clear dream with Lailani. But, if he had to think of something that made him happy, he might as well give it a go.
Suddenly, a plate of cheese fries showed up.
"Is that a plate of cheese fries?" she asked.
"Yeah, it's the first thing I could think of. Can I taste them in this dream?"
"Of course. Though, when we wake up, you won't."
It didn't matter to him. He ate it. Then, he thought of Tiffany. She popped up.
"Where am I?" she asked.
"Hi, Tiffany." he greeted.
"Justin? What is this? Why are you in my dream?"
"I'm lucid dreaming and I brought you into it. Were you sleeping?"
"Yeah. I had just fallen asleep. But, why did you bring me here?"
"Lailani told me to think of something that made me happy and here you are."
She was still freaked out about this. But, the fact that he thought of her because she made him happy was heartwarming.
"Be careful who you think of, Justin. You can only have a maximum of four people in here. Anything above would cause a nightmare that you wouldn't control." Lailani explained.
He understood. It made sense to him.
"I'm flattered you thought of me, Justin. This is still freaky though. But, why me? Why not Ashley or Momo?" Tiffany asked.
"Because, Tiffany. Out of all of the girls that I have connections to, you're one of the very few that have genuine feelings for me. You, Lailani, and Polly."
She smiled. What he said was true: She had the most genuine feelings for him. Their friendship wasn't even defined by sex, but rather affection. She cared about him.
"You know? If I were lucid dreaming, I would've thought of you too." she stated.
This was amazing. The three of them spent the 20 hours hanging out, playing board games, telling stories, and having a good time. This was the much-needed mental health treatment Justin ached for. Unfortunately, Tiffany left early because she didn't take the oil.
Him and Lailani woke up a little over 20 hours later. This was very therapeutic.
"Thank you, Lailani." he said to her.
She yawned, which was pretty adorable. "You are so welcome, Justin. I should get back to work now. I'm glad I could help."
"So, how long will this last?" he asked her.
"It typically lasts for 1-3 months. So, you shouldn't feel any anxiety between now and then. I think I'll give you a couple of vials to take home with you and if you want know the correct words to say, I'll text you."
She got out of bed and kissed him on the cheek, put her flip flops back on, and headed back to the front desk. His anxiety was almost non-existent. It was an amazing feeling.
He was going to leave in a few days. He still had a few loose ends to tie up before he went home. He then thought of Candace...
