"Oh, Chrissy, it's gorgeous!" Janet admired the antique sapphire ring in her friend's hand. "It was such a nice gesture of your grandmother to give it to you."

"And look how it sparkles!" Chrissy moved it around, the light from the windows casting reflections all over the gemstone.

"I would marry the first guy that walked into the room for a ring like that!" Janet joked. Right in that moment, Jack's bedroom door opened, and he walked over to the couch, taking a seat.

"Alright, maybe the second one." Janet giggled, and Chrissy joined her.

Jack turned his head. "What's so funny?"

"Nothing." Janet stifled her laughter. "Just girl talk."

"Yeah, you wouldn't get it."

"Fine, I don't care about your little secrets anyway." Jack feigned offense, opening the newspaper on the coffee table. Then, when the girls turned their back to him, he leaned his back on the couch to eavesdrop.

"Do you wanna try it on?" Chrissy asked Janet.

"No, I couldn't possibly" Janet waved a hand " … it's your grandmother's."

"It's alright. It's mine now, isn't it?"

"I suppose … maybe just a quick try, to see how it looks." Janet eagerly snagged the ring from Chrissy and slid it on her left hand.

"I feel so classy!" Janet exclaimed, before standing on her tippy toes and pretending to wrap herself in a fur coat. "Oui, je suis la contess de Sauvignon. I'm just arrivè with my jet private from Montecarlo."

"My turn! My turn!" Chrissy begged, jumping up and down.

"Alright." Janet went on to take off the ring, when she realized it wouldn't move. "Oh, no."

"What?" Jack heard the panic in her voice and left the paper on the table, to see what was happening.

"It's stuck!"Janet cried, pulling at her finger.

"Don't worry, I know what to do!" Chrissy told her.

"What?"

"I'll get Furley!" she began marching towards the door.

"No!" Jack and Janet yelled simultaneously, stopping her in her tracks.

"Why not? If he can unclog a sink he can unclog her finger."

"Barely." Jack told her. "The keyword is barely."

"I'm with him." Janet agreed. "I'm not letting Furley touching me anywhere."

In that moment, the doorbell rang, and Chrissy ran to open, while Jack moved Janet to couch to get a better look at her finger.

"Oh, hello. Chrissy." Lana greeted her. "I didn't expect to see you still here."

"Why wouldn't you? I live here, don't I?"

"So, it was you!" she pointed her laquered finger at the blonde. "You little liar! Where's Jack?"

"He's over there, with Janet, but they're a little busy at the moment." she tilted her head towards the couch, where Jack was fiddling with Janet's hand.

"And you're alright with this?" Lana dramatically put a hand to her heart.

"Well, it's my fault, really. I should have known better than letting Janet take something of mine." she said, referring to the ring.

"I'll say." Lana replied, misunderstanding her words. She then walked past her, heading towards Jack and Janet.

"So, there you are!" she addressed the duo. "I should have known it was you, Janet! It's always the quiet ones ..."

"Oh, wait, you still think that we – oh, no, no!" Janet raised her hands. "It was all a big misunderstanding!"

Lana gasped, pointing at her ring finger. "Well, that certainly isn't!"

"Oh, that." Janet said, looking down at her hand.

"You know, Jack, I came here to give you one last chance before I moved away for good, but you leave me no choice. I can't stay here a minute longer knowing you are engaged to another woman … unlike Chrissy."

"No, Lana, you got this all wrong!" Janet pleaded. "You see -"

"You're moving out?" Jack asked, interrupting her.

"Yes." Lana lowered her gaze. "I still have some dignity, after all. I must accept defeat."

Janet started to speak again, but Jack hugged her from the side, covering her mouth with his hand. "There's no use in hiding our love anymore …. honey-boo. She knows the truth."

"She does?" Janet looked at him sideways.

"Yes, we have to be honest, even if it means that she will move far, far away to forget me and we will never see her again. " Jack elbowed her.

"Oh! Yes, you're right … snookums." Janet snuggled closer to him, smiling uncomfortably.

"I should have know there was something between the two of you." Lana told them. "It was so obvious."

"It was?" they both asked, puzzled look on their faces.

"Of course! Why would you keep rejecting me, unless your heart was already taken?"

"Can't argue with that logic." Jack laughed.

"Janet, you're a very lucky girl. Very." Lana then emphasized, giving Jack one final lustful once-over.

"Don't I know it." she replied, patting Jack's stomach a little too hard and making him wince.

"Goodbye Jack," Lana finally said, before planting a long, passionate kiss on Jack's lips, despite his supposed fiancees presence. "Just a little something to remember me by."

And with that, she turned on her heels. Before the three flabbergasted roommates could blink, she was already gone, leaving apartment 2A behind her forever.
