Chloe looked up after hearing Dom calling her name from across the display of furniture in the IKEA warehouse, their trip having been a competition to see who could find the most bizarre thing for the other to buy, Chloe taking the lead after finding Dom two random items: a fish ice cube mould, and an egg slicer.

"Dom! I'm not buying…whatever that is," she spoke, looking at the object in question with disapproval.

"'that'" he mocked her, "is a collection of plant pots, for the fake plants just here," he pointed to his side, hopeful that he had found something for his younger sister to put in her home.

"I've got some real plants in the trolley, and you know how clumsy I am, I'd be constantly walking into them, especially if they are fixed to the ceiling," she laughed.

"OK, point taken. Have you got the numbers of everything you need to pick up?"

Chloe nodded and held the piece of paper that she had scribbled down the item codes for her chose pieces of furniture.

"Chloe? Can you actually read these?" Dom asked in disbelief, "I know my handwriting is messy, but really Chloe, you aren't helping the 'doctors have completely illegible handwriting' stereotype," they both giggled, and for not the first time that day realised how much she would miss her brother when he went back to Holby.

At first, she didn't speak to him for weeks beyond the strictly necessary professional communication, and even that was limited, but as they gradually got to know each other, they had realised that neither wanted to let the other go. When Dom had had his accident, Chloe sat on those steps with Ange and Fletch, and it was then that she properly realised that she wasn't sure if she could imagine life without Dom, without his support, endless friendship, and knowing she had someone else to talk to, to share her mum with. If you'd have told her three years ago that she would be wandering around IKEA in Switzerland with her brother, looking for the most ridiculous item to buy, Chloe would've laughed and found the idea completely insane, however now, she doesn't want Dom to go.

"Hey! Don't be mean. Anyway, its only since I've become a doctor that my handwriting has become awful- I used to be able to do fancy brush pen calligraphy type thing in med school, I think mum has some random cheesy birthday cards from me with various samples of it inside, I wasn't any good though," she admitted.

"I'm sure you were fabulous! Right, are we going to stop for a hotdog when we get to the end and pick up some stuff from the foodie area? I haven't had daim bars for years!" he asked, and Chloe nodded in approval, whilst concentrating on working her way around the giant warehouse filled with the iconic Scandinavian flat pack furniture.

When they finally reached the checkout, Chloe pulled a variety of things from the trolley that her brother had evidently thrown in without her noticing. She laughed to herself when she recalled that she had done the same for Ange at every opportunity in every shop, come to think of it, she had even done it on the last shopping trip she had been on before she moved.

Chloe wandered around Sainsbury's, picking up various items of food she fancied and slipped them into her mum's trolley when she was looking at her list, or her phone, or just trying to reach something on the top shelf until someone else offered to pick it up for her, at which point, Chloe would promptly burst into fits of laughter and mock her mum's height. So far, Chloe had added popcorn crisps- essentially flattened popcorn in crisp shape she told her mum when she saw them, Tunnock's teacakes and caramel wafer bars (she knew that she could get away with those, especially as they're Scottish), and some fancy, expensive granola that she knew her mum would hate, but after a stay in a hotel in the Lake District, just after Scotland closed their borders (Chloe knew that it was as near as she would get to her home country) and Chloe had tried the posh stuff, ordinary Tesco cereal had never tasted the same. She knew that her mum would insist she helped to pack the shopping, as it had always been, ever since she was young, and as per usual, Ange would manage to pack every single item that Chloe had tried to sneak into the shopping, and the younger woman would be met with an attempt at a glare that ended up with both her and her mum in hysterics, and the poor cashier sat bewildered. Despite knowing that she could afford to buy her own food, it was more fun trying to sneak it into the trolley, and Ange understood, but vowed to get her own back someday.

The duo queued up for hotdogs, Dom insisting that a trip to IKEA wouldn't be complete without a visit to the food market and having a hotdog, whilst Chloe bought Daim Bars and an apple, ginger, oat, and pear smoothie to have with breakfast the next day. After they finished their lunch, the siblings carried their shopping back to Chloe's hire car.

"I really need to get myself sorted with a new car now I've bought a flat," she spoke as they neared the correct vehicle.

"Well, that's tomorrow sorted then!" Dom joked.

"Umm, I don't think so- you'd be having me fork out for a brand-new posh thing that I couldn't afford, nice try though Dom!" she laughed, "I'm joking, we can go and have a look around, but can we leave the French to me, I don't think anyone here could ever understand your dodgy accent."

"OK, fine," he pretended to pout but when he smiled at her, Chloe knew that nothing she had said had offended him, and began to wonder again, what it would be like without having Dom around. But she knew that this was something she needed to do, and if she needed them, her brother, mother, and twin siblings were only a facetime call away, and she could take the train if she wanted to. But she needed to move on from Holby, away from everything bad she associated with the place, and progress her career, even if that meant moving to a completely different country, miles away from her friends and family. She had come to terms with that and realised that she had to move and for once, put herself first.
