Episode 5: Sworn to the Sword

Steven and Connie were enjoying each others company on top of the right hand of the Crystal Temple statue while the Monks and Gems are inside, discussing on what to do next. "I don't know if this would work." Pearl said. "Look, Pearl, we need to get prepared in case Peridot, Jack, Wuya, heck even Malachite attack." Kimiko said. "Yea, who knows what the fusion could do to us." Clay added. "I'll think about it." Pearl said, walking to a chair and sitting down on it. The Monks walks back to the couch. "So, what do we do if Peridot attack?" Omi said. "Well, Peridot does have tech stuff. So if we remove the tech…" Raimundo said. "We then remove the threat? That's sounds about right" Clay finishes. "Here's the thing. She could summon something that could give her a leg up to the battle." Kimiko counter. "We don't know if she could or not." Raimundo said. "Besides, we got three things to worry about right now. Getting the Wus, Finding Peridot, Wuya, Jackson, and Jack, and finding Malachite. That's a lot to worry about" Raimundo said.

Just then, the door opens. It was Steven and Connie, rushing in quickly. "Woah, woah, where's the fire, Steven?" Clay said. "I was going to ask Pearl to teach Connie to sword fight." Steven said. Pearl just heard that. "Wait, wait, you want me to do what?" Pearl said. "You should train Connie to sword fight. She's already pretty good." Steven said. Connie blushes from that. "Steven." Connie said. "Well, it's true. You help me with that robot floating thing, you took down the evil clone of yourself…and those mean seagulls just now…" Steven said. "Well you are awfully young to be sword fighting, but then again, the monks are near the same age as you and look how they are turning out." Pearl said. Raimundo chuckles from that. "Come on, Pearl, you should give Connie a chance, she could be a valuable asset. I mean, she's could be a really good sword fighter if you give her a chance. Besides, she could also be trained as an honorary Xiaolin monk." Kimiko said. Just then, Connie spoke up too.

"Kimiko is right, I want to learn. I mean I don't know what will happen in the future with Jack, Wuya, Peridot and all the other things that will happened but if something dangerous comes along, I don't want to be a burden, I wanna help! I want to be there for Steven, The Monks, and you guys. Earth is mine and their home too. Can I be able to protect it too?" Connie said. Pearl just had tears of joy in her eyes. She couldn't say no to that one. "Okay, if that's how you feel." She said, wiping the tears away from her eyes. "we should get started right now." Pearl stands up and walks. Steven cheers. "Wait, now?" Connie said as she rushes over to the warp pad as Steven and Pearl stands on it. They warp out and leaving the Monks to the house to themselves. "Well, speaking of training, we better get ours done today." Omi said. Raimundo, Kimiko and Clay nods as they head outside the home for their training. Little do they know, The Monks and the Gems aren't the only one that would train today.

Back at the Heylin, they arrive in a big plains inside the forest. Jack was holding a sword and getting a few practice swings in while Chase takes a deep breath. "You want to know how I learned to be a swordsman?" Chase said. "Sure, I feel like it was some great Heylin that trained you to be some great swordsman" Jack boasters. "Well…not really Heylin…but someone else." Chase said. "Spill it, Chase. I can handle it." Jack said. "Alright, then. It wasn't a Heylin…it was one Crystal Gem…more specifically…Pearl." Chase said. Jack did a double take. "Wait, what?! You mean to tell me you learn to swing a sword from Pearl" Jack said outloud. "How is that possible?" "You see, Jack. I wasn't always a Heylin, I was formally part of the Xiaolin Monks, friends with Dashi and Master Monk Guan." Chase explained.

A flashback appears with Chase narrating it. "You see before I became a Heylin, I was good ally with Dashi and Guan. We bested Wuya and got some training with the Gems. Pearl in particular fascinated me. She always seemed a great teacher and for nearly a month, I was taught by her to become a swordsman and I acceled at it. Pearl even told me that I was the best swordsman she ever had and said before she left "Always train to get better", and I hadn't let that go since." Chase said as the flashback ends. "So, wait, you were once ally with the Gems and Monks?" Peridot said. "So, what made you become a Heylin warrior?" "That…I cannot speak of it at this time." Chase said. "At least, not yet."

Jack was just stunned. His icon was once an allied with his enemy. However, this is Chase Young, the current Heylin Warrior and he's about to get some sword training. "Alright, I'm actually open on kicking Pearl's butt." Jack said, with a fire in his eyes. "You sure about that?" Chase said with a snarky tone. "You should know that she was my teacher…my master." "I know but she's your enemy…she's our enemy." Jack said. "Don't you want to one up her to have your own protege? After all, you said I have untapped potential and could be a prodigy at this." he added. Chase ponders a bit and after a moment quietly nods. "Alright, let's start the training." Chase said. Wuya just smirks.

A montage shows Jack starts training. At the same time, we are shown Connie's training with Pearl split perfectly with Chase training with Jack. While Connie was focusing on stances and doing it for Steven, Jack was training with more sword training. He was also doing pull up and treadmill with minimal success…at first. Connie was practicing with Pearl with one shot, being stern in her training with Connie. Chase was also sparing with Jack, this time hand to hand combat when the swords are either broken or gets disarmed. We then start seeing Connie improving a bit against a high level holo-pearl but was still a bit raw, losing her focus for a bit. Jack was able to knock out a few of his own Jackbots, but not before showing some of his raw attack. Chase just watches and ponders a bit. As we montage though the month, Connie and Jack began to drastically improve. Connie was able to best a high level Holo-Pearl with her new training outfit and Jack was giving Chase a hard time, even disarming him at one point. Both of them have proven to be as very capable swordsmith.

A few days after the month long montage. Jack was doing a bit of swords training with Chase as Chase was holding nothing back in the training. Wuya, Jackson and Peridot was watching in awe of what they are seeing. Chase and Jack were not holding back and Jack seems to be more motivated than ever before. Even with that, it mostly ended in a draw. "That was impressive, Jack." Chase said with a bit of panting. "You have come a long way in a month, similar how far I came in one month." "Thanks, Chase" Jack said, also panting. Just then, Wuya gasp. "I'm sensing a new shen gong wu!" Wuya said. "Wait, you can still do that, even though you are human now?" Peridot said. "Yes, and the wu is…*gasp* the Glove of Jisaku!" Wuya said. "Alright, I think I'm ready for the mission." Jack said. Chase nods but ponder something. "Think you can do it…solo?" Chase said with a betting tone. "Oh la la, yes please." Jack said. "What, why just Jack and not Jackson, me or even Wuya?" Peridot said. "Look, they are hunting for all of us so sending out one would lead them to think that you guys split up. At least, for now." Chase said with a calculating tone. "I like it." Jack said. "Alright." Peridot said. "I'll try to do research of the Kindergarten soon." "Excellent. Jack, you ready for your mission?" Chase said. "Am I ever, Chase…am I ever." Jack said with a smile to the camera.

Back at the Temple, Connie had finished training for the day and recently had some issues with Pearl that was recently resolved due to Pearl's…fascinating history with Rose. Connie was just about ready to head out when Dojo slithers up to the Monks and Gems. "Hey, guys! A new wu just activated." Dojo said. The monks pull out the Ancient scrolls. It shows the Glove of Jisaku. "Oh, the glove of Jisaku, it attract any object within it's range." Dojo said. "Kinda like a mystical Magnetic...uhh thingy." "Alright, well, which 3 of us should get it knowing Wuya is set to get it?" Amethyst said. "I think it should be me, Pearl and uh..." Kimiko said. "I'll join." Connie said. The monks look on surprised. "Well, I've been training with you guys and Pearl for about over a month and I feel like I might be able to help out without being a hindrance." Connie explained. "Alright, if you are sure about it, then I won't stop you." Kimiko said. Pearl nods as Connie, Pearl and Kimiko head out on Dojo. Steven gives them a thumbs up to show his support for them and especially Connie. Connie blushes a bit as they get on Dojo, bring with three wus, Star Hanabi for Kimiko, Thorn of Thunderbolt for Connie and Falcon's Eye for Pearl. They head out to get the Wu.

In a deserted plains, Dojo arrives as he scours around the plains with Kimiko, Pearl and Connie. This was considered Connie's unofficial first mission. They agreed that because this was improvised, they won't count it against Connie if she fails. Even if she succeeded, they would not count it but it would be a minor confidence boost to her. They look around and find it. However, several hundred Jackbots arrive. "We're not alone." Kimiko said. Pearl and Connie draws their Spear and Swords respectfully and Kimiko pulls out the Star Hanabi. "Hello, Xiaolin Gems." Jack said. "It's Crystal Monks, thank you very much." Pearl quips. Jack rolls his eyes as he sends his Jackbots to attack without even saying it.

Pearl was able to slice and dice some of the Jackbot with ease. "Phew, this is so easy. Jack doesn't stand a lick of a chance." Pearl said with a confidence boost. Kimiko used the Star Hanabi with her element to destroy more jackbots and Connie managed to slice a few Jackbots. She then sees Jack nearing the Glove of Jisaku. She leaps into action, slicing several more Jackbots along the way. She jumps on top of Jack and touches the Glove at the same time as Jack. "Jack Spicer, I challenge you to a Xiaolin Showdown!" Connie said. "Uhh…if I recall correctly, you were Connie, right. Steven's best friend?" Jack said. "How did you…oh right those spybot the monks mention." Connie said. Jack softly groans. "Alright, what's the showdown and what are you betting?" Jack said. "Sword and Wu fighting. First to fall loses." Connie said with a proud look on her face. She thought it was an easy win for her. "What?" Jack said flatly. "Okay, fine. I'm betting the Eye of Dashi. What about you?" "The Thorn of Thunderbolt is what I'm betting." Connie said proudly said. "Alright, I'm game for it." Jack said. "Let's go, Xiaolin Showdown!" Both said.

Several flashes later, shows both Jack and Connie on a floating platform separated from Pearl, Kimiko and Dojo. "Gong Yi Tan Pai!" Both said, drawing their sword. Connie charges to attack Jack as Jack closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. He opens his eyes and a sparkle dings in his eyes. He quickly defends from Connie aggressive attacks. Jack quickly was nearing the edge when suddenly he leaps over Connie like a ninja. This threw Connie off and Pearl, Kimiko and Dojo were stunned on what they just saw. Jack then attacks Connie and she was on the backfoot quickly. Connie was stunned from this but recompose herself and counters some of Jack's attack. "Thorn of Thunderbolt!" Connie said, launching a bolt of lighting towards Jack. Jack blocks it with his Sword and just held off the lighting attack. Connie continues to attack aggressively but Jack seem to keep countering her advancements. Just then, he sees and opening and roundhouse kick Connie hard, losing her balance and allowing Jack to quickly get the upperhand. Connie was now overwhelmed and her confidence was shot. She quickly lost her balance and fell of the platform.

Several more flashes later, Jack was now holding the Eye of Dashi, Thorn of Thunderbolt and the Glove of Jisaku. He was so embolden by his success. Connie was on the ground face down. Jack just starts to walk away. "HOLD UP!" Pearl shouts. "How did you know how to use a sword?" "Easy…I found a master to teach me that is not you." Jack quips. Pearl was perplexed by it. "I won't say who, but it's someone you knew." Jack added. He then flies away. Connie slowly gets up and looks a bit sad. "I...I'm sorry guys." Connie said. "Don't worry, Connie. There always be next time." Kimiko said. Connie softly smiles. "You're right. There's always another chance for me to beat Jack back." Connie said. Pearl picks up Connie's sword and hands it back to her. Dojo grows to his massive size as they head back, now knowing Jack is back in action.

Back at Chase's place. They were waiting for Jack's return. Peridot was given some weird look from Chase and it was making her uncomfortable. "Why must you do that, Chase? You are not making me ease up." Peridot said. "It's just…why would Jack bring a gem with little potential to be great." Chase said. Peridot just looks back at her notes, remaining quiet. Just then, the door opens to reveal…Jack! And he has the Glove of Jisaku. "Great job, Jack." Chase said walking up to Jack. "Thank you, Mast-Chase. Sorry." Jack said with an awkward chuckle. Chase just chuckles. "Still have that master phase still in you." Chase said. "Well, Who did you beat?" Wuya said. "Apparently, Pearl has a new protege…Connie." Jack reports back. Chase was taken back. "Well, talk about timing." Chase said. "Looks like we might have a rivalry on our hands." Jack quips. "Besides… I really smoked her like it was nothing." "Well, good start, Jack, but you still have an uphill battle to climb to reach your full potential." Chase said. Jack nods and looks at Peridot. He walks over to Peridot. "I heard." Peridot said. "I was wanting to come over to say that I care for your safety." Jack said. Peridot looks at Jack with a surprised look. "Uhhh…Why?" Peridot said. "Two good reason, one, you have a lot of great tech that even I am respecting you, and two…because you and I are similar…" Jack said. Peridot slightly blushes but recollected herself. There is something that Peridot has that she doesn't want to address and it looks like it might get addressed sooner rather than later.
