Episode 9: Chille Tid
Jack completed training for the day and he and Peridot were in their room. Jack was getting ready for bed while Peridot was busy writing something in her notes. Jack notices this and peeks over it. It's involves her mentioning how Jack's training is getting more complex and rigorous and that Jack is adapting well in it. Jack could not help but smile a bit. "Aww, thank Peri." Jack said. "Why?" Peridot said in a surprised tone. "Well, you are praising me in your notes." Jack said. "Yes, well, it is the truth. You are improving at a fairly good pace and you did assist me in escaping from those clods." Peridot said. Jack softly nods as he sits down on his bed."You know, I've been doing some thinking." Jack said. "What is it now?" Peridot said. "Well, it's nearly obvious, you and I are similar, like two peas in a pod." Jack said. "What are you talking about?" Peridot questioned.
"It's simple really. You and I are similar in every sense of the way. You and I are techies, you and I are smart, and you and I have some...unique quirks." Jack said. This did get Peridot to think a bit. "Well, you did bring up a good point." Peridot said. "But what are you thinking." "I want to protect you… at all cost. You may not realize it but you are my main gal...my ace in the hole." Jack said. Peridot was a bit perplex by this but did appreciate the protection. "I would like some guard for a mission that I need to do." Peridot said. "What would that be?" Jack said. "Well, I need Chase and Wuya's support to make it happen quicker but it would involve the communication tower. No doubt the Gems must have likely taken it down but we'll see if it still up or it's knocked down." Peridot said. Jack thinks a bit. "Well, we could ask them but it's our curfew so we'll wait till either tomorrow or in a few days." Jack said. "You have my word." "Alright, well, have a pleasant hibernation." Peridot said as she gets up and lies down on her bed. Jack also lies down in his bed and pulls the sheet over his body. "Peridot..." Jack said. "Mmm?" Peridot wondered. "You have more potential than Chase is letting on." Jack said. Peridot softly chuckles. "You do have a good way to get me smiling." Peridot said with a chuckle. Jack chuckles a bit. "I know a good amount to make you smile a bit." Jack quips back. Peridot relaxes a bit and Jack began to fall asleep.
Meanwhile, the Monks and Gems had been searching all day and night to find Malachite with little to no success. It was starting to get real late and they are still in the middle of the ocean. Pearl was looking into the ocean with her gemstone shining the way, Amethyst is holding Steven by the ankles and dunking him into the water. Raimundo and Kimikot were looking over the ocean as well with flashlights while Clay and Omi yawns and were visibly tired. "Grrrah! This is not getting us anywhere" Pearl shouts. She was noticeably tired. Same goes with Amethyst, Raimundo and Kimiko. "What's the matter, P? Tired?" Amethyst said sleepingly. "I do not get tired, I get result." Pearl claps back. Raimundo yawns a bit. "Man, Malachite is really in a good hidden spot." Raimundo said with a sleepy tone. "Yea, and it's been a long day trying to find her." Kimiko said. Just then, Steven's ankle wiggles a few times. "Was it one wiggle or two for the pull me up?" Amethyst said with a tired look. "We got to stay focus, Amethyst." Pearl said as Amethyst lets go of Steven's ankles. A splash is heard. This got Omi and Clay wide awake again. "Huh, what, Malachite?" Omi said. "Nope, false alarm." Raimundo said. Clay lets out a big yawn. "Man, this is getting exhausting." Clay said. "Yea, tell me about it." Kimiko said.
Just then, Steven surfaced, takes in a deep breath and spits a fish out of his mouth. "And this is why we wear life jackets!" Steven said. "Wow, Steven-roo. You okay?" Raimundo said. "Yea, but I'm getting a little bit on the tired side." Steven admits. Just then, Garnet surfaces. She climbs into the Gems life raft and removed her goggles that covers her visor. "Nothing, Malachite isn't here at this time." Garnet said. "Ugh...we've been looking for what seem to be days." Pearl said. "It feels like it's been days when we been looking for...about 12 hours, give or take." Raimundo said. "Is...is Lapis going to be okay?" Steven said. "Steven, we don't know if she's okay, Malachite is like a ticking time bomb, we don't know when they will surface. Their fusion is unstable and could lead to destruction." Garnet said. Steven sighs as he collapses and falls asleep. "I think we best get Steven home." Garnet said. "How?! We're in the middle of the ocean." Pearl shouts, causing Steven to wake up in a tired daze. "Huh, do not worry, Lapis, we will make sure you do not sleep with the fishes." Steven said as he slowly walks towards the edge of the raft, nearly falling off from it but Garnet catches him. "Yea, we should start to row back home." Raimundo said. The Gems and Monks nods and began to row back to the beach.
About an hour of rowing back later, they arrived back at the beach and went inside. "We should be out there searching, not in here, unable to search." Pearl said. "Well, don't you guys need to sleep?" Clay said. "Yea, you guys look exhausted." Steven added. We see them looking somewhat tired from the all day search. "We still look awesome." Garnet said with a bit of strain look on her face. "Okay, look, you guys can't really knock on sleeping till you give it a shot." Steven said. "Plus, there's some fun into sleeping, like a slumber party." "F-fun" Pearl said with an eye twitch. Garnet walks over to Pearl and Amethyst. "Look, Pearl and Amethyst, you two should hang back and be with Steven and the Monk, I'm going to keep searching." Garnet said. "Wait, wha? Shouldn't you relax too?" Raimundo said. Garnet looks at Raimundo. "I am always relaxed." Garnet said through her clenched teeth. "Okay, fine...geez..." Raimundo said. Garnet walks to the Warp Pad. "Remember, there's snack in the fridge. Just don't stay up too late." Garnet said as she warps out.
The Monks and Gems began setting up a slumber party for each other. Steven changed into his pajamas, in his room with Amethyst, Omi, and Pearl, while Raimundo, Kimiko and Clay were down stairs, getting ready for their slumber party. "Alright, so before we get the slumber party started, would anyone would like a slumber companion?" Steven said, holding a tray full of different stuffed toys. "Nah, I'm good." Amethyst said as she falls asleep quickly. "I think I'll pass on the slumber pals." Pearl said. "I am good." Omi said. Steven nods and sets a tray aside. "Alright, sleep tight." Steven said. "Oh right." Pearl said. She sits down with legs crossed and half-closed eyes. "This is good, right." Pearl added. "Incorrect, Pearl." Omi said. "This is how you do it." Omi lays down on his chest. Pearl follows suit. "See, now you are doing it." Omi said. "Didn't know that Omi was the sleep master." Raimundo claps. Steven chuckles a bit. "Raimundo, we need to get some sleep." Steven said. "Right, Sorry. Getting a bit loopy here." Raimundo said as he lies down on the couch with Kimiko. Kimiko was taken Omi spot for the night. "I now understand why Omi would be best for this spot, because it so small." Kimiko said.
"Alright, what next?" Pearl said. "You close your eyes." Steven said. "Like all the way." Pearl does so. "Alright, so now I am sleeping." Pearl said. "Well, you can't talk while trying to sleep." Steven said. Pearl opens her eyes and glare at Steven. "Alright then, how would it need to work then?" Pearl said. Steven flops onto his stomach and got real cozy. "It like this, and all you need to do is to not move and not think...*yawn* about anything..." He said. A bit later, he was fully asleep. "It looks like he's fully asleep." Omi acknowledged. "That's...interesting." Pearl said. Pearl began to lay down and began to think nothing. She doesn't fully fall asleep but it's getting there. Omi looks at Amethyst and then lies down on the pillow. He began thinking of something. He shouldn't be thinking but couldn't help but think of someone. "Man...we are most curious about Malachite..." Omi said to himself. "However, I am most curious about Lapis and how she operates." Just then, Steven wakes up from his nightmare, covered in sweat. Steven sees Pearl near his face and jumps up near the window while softly screaming in a fright. "What the? Steven, are you okay." Pearl said, also "waking" up. Omi also gets up.
"I must have a weird dream." Steven said. "I open the door and Lapis was there and-" "Wait, Lapis?" Omi said. "That doesn't make scene, She and Jasper are fused at the bottom of the ocean." Pearl scoffs. Steven and Omi looked at Pearl. "What?" Pearl said. "Have you ever dreamed before, Pearl?" Steven said. "Uh, no, I don't think so at least." Pearl said. "Well, Dreams are meant to be weird." Steven said as he, Pearl and Omi lie down. "Omi, was there a weird dream that you had?" Steven asked. "Oh, yes, there was this one dream where Dojo and I were trekking through the snow in the Xiaolin Temple. We walked into the dining room to a big pile of dirty dishes. They became monster like and began attacking Dojo and I." Omi said. Just then, he heard two snoozes. Steven and Pearl fell asleep of his story. Omi was not amused by this. He goes back to his thinking state when he saw a projection of Pearl's dream. It was a rather simple dream, Pearl and Rose were enjoying each other's company. Amethyst slowly wakes up. "Mmm...hey, Omi." Amethyst said. She then saw what Pearl is dreaming of and began to giggle. This turned into a full on laughter. This causes Steven to wake up again. "Lapis!" Steven said. He looks over to Amethyst. "What are you laughing about, Amethyst?" Steven asked. Omi and Amethyst points at Pearl's hologram.
A few moments later and some weird moment like Rose having Greg's face, Pearl woke up in exacerbation and disgust. She couldn't believe what she just saw. She looks over to the three of them. "Pearl, I had Lapis in my dream again." Steven said. "Oh, that's okay, because dreams aren't real! They are messed up movies." Pearl said. "This is most curious. Why are you dreaming of Lapis now, Steven?" Omi said. "I don't know, Omi, but I need to get to the bottom of this and soon." Steven said. "So, wait, you were actually communicating with Lapis? How do you do that? Is she still in control?" Pearl asked. "I don't know, but we must find out soon." Steven said. Just then Raimundo climbed up with Kimiko and Clay. "Hey, Steven, if you need some assistance, we will help." Raimundo said. "Well, just be on standby, Okay, guys." The Monks nod.
A bit later, The Monks were munching on snacks while Steven, Amethyst and Pearl were talking. "Steven, what I assume is happening is that you could be connecting to her via mentally." Pearl said. "Could you do it again, maybe get to ask her where they are?" Amethyst said. "I'll try." Steven said. "But I need to get to sleep. Can one of you guys tell me a story? More specifically, a dream story?" he asked. "Oh, doggy, I got a good one right here." Clay said with a hoot. "So, there was one dream where Old Bessie and my Dad was..." Just then, they heard a snore. Steven was fast asleep. "Well, I guess he won't know about it. It was a really hootenanny." Clay quips. Raimundo chuckles. "Well, you did mention your dream to me a few months ago and I still laugh about it to this day." Raimundo said. "Well, that is true." Clay said. "Can you guys be quiet, we are trying to make sure Steven stays asleep so he can communicate with Lapis." Pearl whispers. Raimundo chuckles awkwardly and softly.
Steven softly moans. "He must have founded her." Omi said. "That or something is wrong with him." Kimiko said. Pearl kept close to Steven's side. Just then, Steven shot up, waking up in a cold sweat. "Lapis!" He said with a heavy breathing. Pearl and Steven began to hug it out. "Steven, it's fine, we are here." Pearl said, comforting Steven. "Any updates on Lapis?" Omi asked. "Yea, she and Jasper are still fused and she's still have control…but I don't know for how long." Steven said. "Man, Jasper must be a pain to work with." Clay said. "Once we defuse Malachite, Lapis might be free." Raimundo said. Steven softly looks down. Just then, Garnet arrived. "Well, this… is a weird party." Garnet said. "Garnet!" Steven said as he walks up to her. "I dreamed of Lapis on several occasion and…she's still out there but we don't know how much longer she'll have control on how she'll still-" Steven said before Garnet shushes Steven. "Steven, I know you are worried but there's nothing we can do right now. For now we might need to shift our attention into finding Peridot and Jack." Garnet said. Steven then walks back to his pillow. Garnet steps back and flops on the ground face first. "Well, that's one way to fall asleep." Clay said.
