Episode 10: Returning Signal

It was early morning at Beach City. Steven and the monks woke up and the Gems had their first rest in...well, ever. Everyone was refreshed and ready for the day. "So, what's on the schedule for today, guys?" Steven said. "Well, we should have a morning training with Master Fung, but after that, nothing much." Omi said. "Yea, there's not a lot of training for today, strangely." Kimiko said. "Well, I guess it's a mostly rest day since we did search for Malachite all day long yesterday." Raimundo said. "That, and we been training a good amount in the last few days." Clay added. "So, it's good to have some kind of rest day once in a while." Steven nods from that. "Well, I was planning on showing Amethyst the show Crying Breakfast Friends later today." Steven said. "Anyone like to join?" "I guess I can watch it." Raimundo said. "Because after that is a rerun of an episode of Jon, John, and Johnny." "Yea, I have to watch that soon. You guys were praising it a lot when I was grounded from TV." Steven said. "Yea, it's a funny show." Clay said. "It's a real hootnanny." Steven smiles as they head out for their morning training.

Back at the Heylin's HQ, Chase and Wuya were discussing something when Jack and Peridot enter. "Ah, Jack and Peridot, how are you two handing today?" Wuya said. "Well, we do have something to say." Jack said. "Tell them, Peridot." "Look, I need to contact my diamond via the communication tower." Peridot said. "It's a broadcasting tower that sends a signal that could be powerful enough to send a message back to homeworld." "Interesting idea, Peridot." Chase said. "What's the catch though?" Wuya said. "Here's the catch…I assume that the tower is likely out of commission. Keyword likely. If it still functional, then we don't have to worry about it, but if it's knock out of commission, we will need to rebuild it." Peridot said. Chase began to ponder a bit. "Well, that's something, but I wonder what kind of diamond it is." Wuya said. "I have no ill will towards my diamond but she does goes by the name of Yellow Diamond." Peridot said.

"Alright then, where is the communication tower?" Chase said. "Well, it's a long walk but if we have a warp pad, we might be able to warp there faster." Peridot said. "There is one in the backyard." Chase said. "Wait, you have one? Why?" Peridot said. "Well, I wanted to be near one in case the Gems try to do any funny business but also wanted insurance to be able to warp out faster." Chase explains. "A bit flimsy but understandable...I guess." Peridot said. The Heylin began to walk outside. They walked by the training ground to Chase's forest. He lift a tarp to reveal a warp pad, just as he mentions it. "So, looks like we don't need to march over to the Barn to use that warp pad." Jack quips. Peridot steps on it and tries to activate it...but no dice. "Hmm...odd. Let me try a different location." Peridot said. She concentrates and was able to use the warp pad. Jack was impressed by the warp stream. "Still looks cool." Jack said. Chase remained quiet. Just then, Peridot warps back. "Alright, this works...but that means something must be up with the Communication tower." Peridot deduces.

"You sure about that?" Wuya said. "Affirmative, Wuya." Peridot said. "I only was able to warp when the homeworld warp pad was active but due to those Gems knocking out the warp pad, I couldn't warp. That means that…" "That the warp pad at the communication tower is out as well." Chase said. "Correct, Chase. My best guess is to warp somewhere near it and march over there." Peridot said. Jack thought of something and summons 600 of his Jackbots. "Just in case those Monks and Gems decided to spoil our fun." Jack said. "Good call." Wuya said. "I'll summon my rock creatures when we get to the tower." "Alright then. Get on." Peridot said. Chase, Wuya, and Jack get on. "Wait, what about Jackson?" Peridot said. "He'll hang back for us." Wuya said. "Oh, okay." Peridot said as they warp out.

One warp and a half hour of walking later, they arrive to the communication tower...or what left of it. "Ugh...great, we have to rebuild it." Peridot bemoans. Just then, Jack's Jackbots arrive. "Just in time." Jack said. "We can rebuild it in no time." "Allow me to assist in the rebuilding." Wuya said as she summons 600 of her own rock creatures. "We...might be able to get it working in a few hours." Chase said to Peridot. "Good, I need to communicate with my diamond as soon as I can." Peridot said. "Alright then, Rock Creatures!" Wuya said. "Jackbots!" Jack said. "Rebuild the tower!" They both command at the same time. The Rock Creatures and Jackbots began to search around the area for usable pieces for the rebuild.

A montage began to show the Jackbots and Rock Creatures began to build the foundation of the new communication tower. Some of the Rock Creatures were holding the stones in pace while some of the jackbots were placing the other rocks into place. Some of the Jackbots scan the area to find rocks that would be able to help out with the communication tower rebuild. Chase, Wuya and Peridot were watching while Jack was getting something from his place. A bit later, the tower began to hum slowly, signaling that they were close to completing it. Just then, Jack returns with a large 4K camcorder. "Uhh...what the heck is that?" Peridot said. "It's a camcorder, it should help us with the recording system." Jack explained. "I guess that could work." Peridot said. "Alright then." Chase said.

Just then, the tower began to fully activate, sending out a constant stream of signal. "It is active, my master." one of the Jackbots said. "Excellent. Now to record for the signal." Jack said. Peridot step into position. Jack sets the camcorder up to record. "Aaaand, we're live." Jack said. "This is Peridot, transmitting on all frequency from the abandoned crystal system colony of Earth, To Yellow Diamond. My mission is currently being compromised. My escort and informant are gone but I managed to get some help from Jack Spicer, Wuya and two new helpers in Chase Young and Jackson. However, I must request more assistance." Peridot said. She subtly gestures to cut the feed. Jack does so and stops the recording.

"Alright, so how do we be able to broadcast it?" Jack said. Peridot looks at Jack. "Well, It should be able to pick up from the recording and send it out by default." Peridot said. "Oh, so no like needing SD card or anything like that?" Jack said. Peridot looked a bit perplex by it but shook it off. "Look, it's best to wait and see." Peridot said. "How do we know about that?" Chase said. "Well, do you have a communication viewer?" Peridot said. "What, like a TV? Because there was one day the signal went to static for quite sometime." Jack said. "I guess that's close enough." Peridot said. "Alright, let's head to my place to view it." Jack said. "Like we have anything else we can do." Peridot said. Wuya and Chase nods and they head out. Wuya dismisses her rock creatures as they walk away from the tower.

A bit later, they arrived at Jack's place, it was now midday and they arrived at Jack's basement. Jack turns on the TV and shows an episode of Tex's Lab. "Ah, Tex's Lab. Such a classic show. Shame to see it go down hill for season 3 and 4." Jack said. "Uhh...why do you have a poster of me, Jack?" Chase said, noticing the poster of Chase Young. "Duh, I admired you, Chase and I needed something that would motivate me to get better." Jack said. Chase just chuckles a bit. "I'll say this, you are improving at a rapid rate than I expected." Chase said. Jack chuckles from that. Just then, the TV transition from Tex's Lab to Crying Breakfast Friends. "I heard Steven love this show." Wuya said. "We seen a few episodes and we don't get why he like it." Jack comments on it. "Where's the signal, did they put it in the wrong place?" Peridot said, growing more worried. Just then, the TV turned static. "Wow, I guess ask and you shall receive, I hope." Jack quips.

Just then, Peridot was on the TV, repeating what she said on the camcorder. "It...it worked." Jack said. "Good to know that." Peridot said. "If the signal is broadcast on Homeworld, then assistance will be here in a matter of days." "Let's hope so." Chase said. "Alright, well, should we head back to the HQ and plan things out accordingly?" Jack asked. "Sure… but I would like to talk to you after we plan things out Jack." Chase said. "Sure...go on, tell me." Jack said. "Wait till we get back to HQ and we discuss our plan." Chase said. "Aww…okay…" Jack bemoans. They began to head back to Chase's place. Now with the signal up the question becomes, for how long?
