Episode 11: Cry For Help
While Jack and The Heylin are heading back to Chase's place, we head back to Beach City, more specifically, Steven's place. Raimundo, Amethyst and Steven were watching Crying Breakfast Friends while the Monks were doing a bit of quick training on the beach. Amethyst and Raimundo were clearly bored from it. "Ah man, I just don't get this cartoon." Amethyst said. "Why can't they just eat the ice cream off the floor?" "Well, you aren't the only one." Raimundo said. "We just missed Tex's Lab, but hey, after this would be a rerun of Jon, John, and Johnny." Just then, the TV signal began glitching up. "Aw…not again." Steven groans. "It was doing that yesterday too." "Hang on, I got it." Amethyst said. She gets up and walks to the TV, rattling it a bit. "Is it working?" Amethyst asked when the TV shake and rumbles. "I don't think it's the TV." Raimundo said.
Just then, Peridot appeared on the TV. "This is Peridot, transmitting on all frequency from the abandoned crystal system colony of Earth, To Yellow Diamond. My mission is currently being compromised. My escort and informant are gone but I managed to get some help from Jack Spicer, Wuya and two new helpers in Chase Young and Jackson. However, I must request more assistance." Peridot said on the TV. It began to repeat on it. A bit later, The Gems and Monks were told about it and were looking at the TV. Steven was on the phone talking to someone. "Huh, Didn't know Peridot could communicate like that?" Omi said. "This isn't normal." Kimiko said. Just then, Steven hangs up the phone. "Connie said it's on her TV too." Steven said. "Okay, so if Peridot is on every TV in Beach City, how is she doing that." Omi said. Garnet ponders something. "What is it, Garnet?" Clay said. "I think I know one place where Peridot is getting the signal.
A good while later, Lion warps in via a portal he made with Dojo and the Monks in tow. Lion had Amethyst, Garnet, and Pearl on him but collapses after the weight of the gems. Steven pops out of Lion's mane as the Monks get off of Dojo who shrinks back down to normal size. "You okay, Lion?" Steven said as he pets Lion. The Monks and Gems looks over to see the crudely repaired communication tower, shooting a beam of light towards the sky. "Just as I predicted and feared." Garnet said, "Looks like Peridot managed to rebuild the tower while we weren't looking." Pearl said. "Looks like it must be really valuable to her. Do you think Jack and Chase had something involved in this?" Dojo said. "So, how do we knock it out?" Omi said. Steven gasp and had an idea. "You guys should become Sugilite!" Steven said. "Hey, Yea, that's a great idea, Steven." Amethyst said. "Then again, it's up to Garnet. So what do you say Garnet?" "I must decline the idea." Garnet said.
Amethyst was stunned from that. "Wait, wha?! But, don't we need to be big like last time?" Amethyst said. "Last time was a total disaster." Garnet said. "Last time we fused, we lost control and now we can't even warp here anymore." "Uh...am I missing something here?" Raimundo said. Garnet takes off her visor. "Sorry, Monks, Amethyst and I got carried away with our fusion in the past and due to that we inadvertently caused this situation." Garnet explained. She turns back to Amethyst and puts on her visor. "Due to that…Sugilite is now benched. What we need to do is to be careful." Garnet added. Garnet then turns to Pearl. "It's you and me Pearl." Garnet said. Pearl couldn't believe it and she was tearing up with joy. "Sorry, sorry, it's been a good long while." Pearl said, wiping away the tear. "I'm supportive of the idea." Steven cheers as Garnet and Pearl get into position. Pearl does some quick stretches. A bit later, they do their fusion dance and fuse into Sardonyx.
"Good evening, Everyone!" Sardonyx said as she walks up to the Monks, Steven, Lion and Amethyst. "This is Sardonyx coming at you live at the soon to be former Communication Tower! How are y'all doing tonight?" Raimundo chuckles from that. "We are doing fine, thank you very much." Raimundo quips. "GIANT WOMAN!" Steven shouts. Amethyst meanwhile was not happy about this. Sardonyx picks up Steven. "Oh my stars! Well, if it isn't Steven Universe! We finally meet. What do you think?" She said as she twirls her top half. "Was I worth the wait? Oh, of course I was" She said with a laugh. "Well, great to see you too, Sardonyx." Clay said with a tip of his hat. Amethyst was just not in the mood due to Garnet's benching of Sugilite. Raimundo took notice as Steven and Sardonyx had their fun. "Something wrong, Amethyst?" Raimundo asked. "Huh? Uh, no." Amethyst said. "We just need to knock out the communication tower before it reaches Homeworld."
"Oh, I just have the weapon to do it." Sardonyx said as she does a trick to summon her war hammer. "Wow, talk about hammer time." Raimundo quips. Sardonyx chuckles a bit from that quip. A good while and a bit of flaunting later, the Communication Tower was knocked out and ceases the signal. "Now, if you guys ever need me, let Pearl and Garnet know. I'll be there in a flash...literally." Sardonyx said as she defuse back to Pearl and Garnet. "Woo Wee, that was a pretty good fusion." Clay said. "Yea, you guys were amazing." Steven said. "Yea, we were awesome." Garnet said. While the Monks, Steven, Pearl, and Garnet were celebrating, Amethyst was disappointed. She was hoping that she would be able to put an end to the communication tower once and for all. However, Garnet's decision really put a damper on that. 'I hope this is the last time we need to do that' Amethyst thought.
Back at Chase's place, Jack was looking at the TV as the signal went from Peridot's message to back to Crying Breakfast Friends. "Ugh...the message went out." Jack bemoans. "Just as I feared, the Monks and Gems are on to us." Peridot said. "Do you think there would be any back up arriving soon?" Chase asked. "I highly doubt it, unfortunately." Peridot responds. "That's what I'm fearing, the Gems and Monks wanting to capture you, Peridot. I fear it is inevitable." Chase said. "No, I refuse to believe that!" Jack said. "I made a promise to keep Peridot protected. If the Monks and Gems want to get Peridot, they would have to go through me!" Jack was having none of it and had fire in his eyes again. "Oh, boy. You know how to get Jack fired up." Wuya quips. Chase looks at Wuya with a "Don't test me" look and Wuta slinks away.
"Look, Jack, I know you don't like to hear it, but it's true. I estimate that Peridot is pretty much a goner in a few weeks time." Chase said. Jack's blood boils more. "Why are you so negative on Peridot? She has more potential than you can see. I see a ton of untapped potential in Peridot and she could even surprise you." Jack said, defending Peridot with a passion. "I know what you are trying to get at Jack, and while I do agree that there could be untapped potential, it's also likely stunted due to her reliance to Technology. You can be salvaged, Jack, but not Peridot. What you don't realize is that your potential is and always will be higher than Peridot. You are eons younger than Peridot and you are still young enough to shape your destiny. Besides…Peridot's mission, as she said, is being compromised. We don't want our mission to be compromised as well." Chase said. Peridot was mostly quiet. Jack was still not taking it. "Well, at least I got you to agreed on the potential, but I believe that Peridot can improve and be able to not use tech. I mean, look how far you managed to mold me. I went from an admittedly weak person to being a versatile offensive threat. I gave Connie a run for her money. I was able to shattered Pearl's sword, putting her on the ropes. If I can do that, think what I can do with Raimundo, Amethyst, Kimiko, Clay, heck, even Steven! It's never too late to change course and I believe Peridot have the capability to improve her ability and even become a good duo partner of mine." Jack said.
"You are really that dedicated to Peridot, I see. It would be a great shame to see Peridot get captured." Chase said. "What on earth are you talking about? Do you have Garnet's future vision or something?" Jack claps back. "No, but there is a shen gong wu that could see the future and if activated, I can prove it to you." Chase said. Jack looks a bit puzzled. "what's the shen gong wu then?" Jack asked. "That would be the Crystal Glasses. I don't know where it is, so we have to wait and see where it might be." Chase said. Jack was about to say something when he got an idea. "We'll talk more later." Jack said. "I got some research I need to do." Jack scurries off. Peridot was perplexed by it and just walks back to do some research on the Cluster on her own time.
Chase sits back down and sighs. He looks at Wuya. "What? I was enjoying the fireworks." Wuya quips with a smirk. "Of course you would." Chase quips back. "I will say that Jack is really passionate about Peridot. I respect Peridot but she's not going to be cut out for being evil." "Wow, a bit harsh but understandable. You want people that can be have unlimited potential." Wuya said. "Nah, I'm more of a realist." Chase said. "See, I saw a good amount of potential in both of them, but what made Jack more potential filled is both his age and Peridot's reliance on tech. Those arms and legs aren't part of her body. She's hiding something." he added. "Not only that, with Jack being in his late teens, his potential is anyone's guess. It all depends on how we mold him." "Well, that's good to hear. I guess it's all part of your masterful crafting, I assume." Wuya said. "Indeed it is." Chase said. Wuya just smirks, gets up and walks away. "Indeed it is." Chase said with a grin on his face. Something is up with Chase as he slowly gets up and goes to his room.
About 2 days after, The Monks and Gems saw the tower reactive about once with the same message. However, no shen gong wu was activating nor was any back up was arriving. Something was off about Pearl as well. She arrived back the same time when the communication tower reactivates and disrupts the signal. However, Steven suggested that he, Omi and Amethyst should try and capture Peridot, all while only suggesting it to both Omi and Amethyst. They were at the Communication Tower, ready to leap into action. Omi brought the Orb of Tornami and the Falcon's Eye, just in case. Steven was sitting behind a rock with Omi and Amethyst. Amethyst was using the Falcon's Eye to see if there's anything suspicious. Steven was using a telescope. "Let's see...noo...noo...Ah! There you are!...oh no wait, that's a weird looking cactus." Steven said as Amethyst gives Omi the Falcon's Eye after getting no results. "I am most doubtful that she would be coming, Steven." Omi said. "Yea, isn't there a saying fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me?" Amethyst said. Omi looked a bit perplexed form that. He just shakes it off and began to look with the Falcon's Eye.
"Mmm...nothing much yet." Omi said. Just then, he sees the escape pod. "Hold on, I see something!" Omi exclaimed. "Really, what is it?" Amethyst said using the telescope. Amethyst then finds the escape pod. "Wait, that's the escape pod that the Heylin used to escape from. How did they get it back?" Amethyst said. "Yea, how? Then again, she could have warped in while we were out training and somehow grabbed it." Omi suggested a theory. "That could be possible, but highly risky and I doubt Peridot would try that, even with Jack and Chase as backup." Amethyst said. Omi looks again. "Oh my, they are pulling up the structures! They are fixing the tower!" Omi said. The escape pod managed to land on top of it and opens the hatch. Omi looks through the Falcon's Eye and gasp. "Wait, are you pulling my arm?!" Omi said. "Uh, pulling your leg." Steven corrects Omi. Omi glares at Steven and hands the Falcon's Eye. Steven looks through with Amethyst looking through the telescope. It wasn't Peridot...it was Pearl! "Oh, no! No no no no no no!" Amethyst mumbles. "Why would Pearl do such a thing?" Omi said. "I don't know, but we are needing to find out and fast." Amethyst said. Steven remained quiet through the ordeal.
Back at Steven's place, Omi, Steven and Amethyst were looking at the TV, which was off, wondering what, no, why Pearl was doing this. "Why would Pearl do that?" Omi said "She knows that could harm us in the future." "Maybe she's studying it on how it works?" Steven said. "I highly doubt that." Amethyst said. Steven thinks and looks at the TV. "Mmmaybe she's getting more channels for us?" Steven said as he turned on the TV. Once again, the signal is interrupted. Pearl walks up behind them. "Oh, this is not good." Pearl said. "It must be Peridot again. She must be getting really desperate." Omi began to have the wheels in his head cranking. Garnet walks in and Pearl glanced over to Garnet. "Garnet, The Heylin are using the Hub again." Pearl told Garnet. Amethyst, Steven and Omi look at each other. "They really are evading the future vision. No matter how much I try." Garnet said. "Well, Come on, guys, let's get the tower again." Pearl and the Monks head out with Garnet. Amethyst, Steven and Omi head out as well.
A bit later, they arrived at the communication tower. "Man, Peridot and the Heylin are really needing backup." Clay said. "Don't they have a fired up Jack, Wuya, Peridot, Chase Young and Jackson?" Kimiko said. "What more do they need?" "I guess they really want to rule the world in a heart beat." Raimundo said. "Well, we'll still disable the tower as many times as we like, right Garnet?" Pearl said. Garnet nods. Just then, Omi's brain hits a lightbulb. Just before Garnet and Pearl fuse again..."STOP!" Omi shouts. Pearl gasp. "What's the matter, Omi?" Pearl asked. "Pearl...Steven, Amethyst and I saw you repair the tower!" Omi said with a finger pointing to Pearl. "Wha?" Pearl said. "Wait wha?!" the rest of Monks said. "I am speaking the truth. Pearl, tell Garnet what you did." Omi said. "I don't get it…" Garnet said. "Garnet… I-I'm sorry...it was fun to be Sardonyx with you." Pearl said. Garnet drops Pearl on the ground. "That's why I wasn't seeing Peridot or the Heylin… It was you who was repairing the tower!" Garnet said with a scolding voice. "So, that means we've been coming here without any chance with finding Peridot!" Kimiko said. "Oh yes, and with Pearl doing this, it lead us on doing nothing but run around and try to find nothing important. That is most shady of her." Omi said. Clay and Raimundo just remained quiet through the whole ordeal. "Guys, look, I can explain!" Pearl said. "I don't want to hear it." Garnet said. "Amethyst…fuse with me…let's just get it over with." Amethyst nods, albeit reluctantly. Soon, they fused into Sugilite and knocked out the tower once and for all. This left Pearl in a shock state and left the monks in a fractured state.
A bit later, Steven and Amethyst were watching Crying Breakfast Friends while Garnet and Pearl were not on speaking terms. The Monks saw this and were divisive on how to react. Clay and Raimundo want to support Pearl and get her back into good graces with Garnet while Omi and Kimiko supported Garnet side, basically believing Pearl should be punished for her actions and would be in the dog house until further notice. "Man, things are falling apart." Amethyst said. "Yea, if we don't resolve it soon, we might see the beginning of the end." Steven said with a mournful look. "I'm starting to believe that the Heylin might be more united than us." Amethyst added. Steven sadly nods. What they don't know is that both sides are having fracturing into two sides. Jack and Peridot were planning on something else while Chase managed to get Jackson support to move on from Peridot. Wuya remained neutral on the matter. For both sides, things were only going to get more intense in the future. One side in particular must come together otherwise…they might collapse.
