"Who are you?" Maya repeated as she braced her back against the headboard of the bed. She quickly looked around as she scrambled out of the awfully large bed that had crimson red and golden silk sheets on top. This is definitely not my chambers or else why wouldn't there be an inch of fur here? "Where am I?! Where is my family?! Where is my wolf?!"
Maya looked around for a weapon as Jaime and Tyrion quickly stood up as well, their eyes watching her every move. She grabbed a bowl and threw it at the strangers in here, but Jaime dodged it, ducking down. She noticed that there were Lannister banners all over the place. Talk about smug Lannister pride…
"You're Lannisters, aren't you?" Maya questioned. "You must be…Tyrion, right? The dwarf."
Tyrion felt a little hurt at hearing his friend call him that since she was never one was nicknames, but he immediately remembered that Maya didn't remember anything. Tyrion nodded.
"What do you remember, Maya?" Jaime asked Maya who scowled at him and held a golden plat out as a weapon in front of her.
"I prefer to be either called 'My lady' or 'Lady Maya'…why are you being so familiar towards me? I don't know who you are."
"I am Jaime Lannister."
"Ser Jaime Lannister?" Jaime nodded. "The Kingsguard who killed the king he was sworn to protect while Tywin Lannister sacked the city of King's Landing, also the man who broke his vows…that Jaime Lannister?"
Jaime shamefully looked down then back at her before answering, "Yes. I am The Kingslayer."
Maya breathed heavily and grinded her teeth. "Where am I?"
"You're in The Capital, my lady. The Red Keep to be exact." Tyrion replied.
"Why? Where is my family?" Maya asked quickly before coming close to Jaime. "What happened? No bullshit, Lannister."
"If I tell you then you will go into shock," Jaime warned her.
"I don't care." She snapped angrily. "Am I your prisoner or something?"
Jaime sighed. "What do you-"
"UGH!" She groaned loudly. "Look, all I remember is getting ready for the king coming to Winterfell and that's it. I remember everything before that. Now tell me what in the seven hells is going on?!"
"It's been almost three years since then," Jaime said honestly and saw her sag a little. "You were attacked just a couple of days ago and have been in a deep sleep since."
"Why am I in King's Landing? Is my father here? Where is mother? Where are my sisters and my brothers?" she asked softly. "Please tell me."
"I must go, my lady," Jaime suddenly said, not having enough courage to tell the woman he loves that all of them are dead except for her sister…and it was all his family's fault. Jaime quickly walked out of the room with Tyrion behind him. They both heard her call their names, but neither wanted to tell her the truth.
"Lock the doors. No one is allowed into this room or out of it, do you understand me?" Jaime growled to two guards who nodded and bowed.
"What are we going to do, Tyrion?" Jaime asked as they walked down the hallway.
"I don't know. She has no recollection of anything that has happened in the past three years. She is very vulnerable right now. Imagine how easy it would be for someone to manipulate her especially in her current condition."
"We have to tell her things and take our time with her because if we don't then this could end up in one big pile of shit." Jaime told Tyrion. "At all costs, we have to keep her away from Oberyn. He would try to get her on his side and gods only know what would happen if he's able to do this. A Stark and a Martell…both houses have reasons to hate us and both start with blood shed of their houses."
"Oberyn? What would the snake want with her?" Tyrion asked as they entered his chambers.
"I have this feeling…in my gut that he likes her." Jaime said cryptically to his brother who raised an amused yet curious eyebrow up in response.
"How so?"
"I can't explain, but you should have seen the way he was looking at her, Tyrion and I know that look. He even said that his paramour likes her as well. I won't let him take her away from me."
"You're forgetting one tiny information, Jaime and that is that this is the Maya who hates us and every thing about our family. The girl who was not afraid of anything and didn't want to get married or have children or even have anything to do with politics. She is also very, very, very stubborn with an iron fist it seems. Maya had a wall around her heart, remember? She never even told her family that she loved them because she couldn't. She is not safe here, Jaime. They will tear her apart because she is confused and curious." Tyrion reminded him. "Oh, yes and she doesn't that you have an incestuous relationship with our dear sister who she has now never met before it seems."
"You finished?" Jaime snapped. "I know all of this already and that is why I decided not to tell anything about what happened in the past three years since our arrival to Winterfell."
"I agree. Who knows how Maya would react to news like this? She's unpredictable at the moment."
The next morning, Maya paced throughout the room before looking for clues then she decided to go exploring. She dressed herself in Stark colors seeing as how there were for some reason only Lannister colors and opened the door, but found that it was locked. She yanked the door a little before violently yanking it then she hit it out of frustration. She ran a frustrated hand through her curls as she glanced around then she smirked as she saw the balcony.
Oh, Lannisters and how they seem to always underestimate Starks.
Maya went to the balcony and looked over, her smirk widened when she easily saw that she could climb down. Climbing always reminded Maya of her little brother, Bran. She wished she knew where her family was. The Lannisters had told her that she was in King's Landing and in the Red Keep, but they never told her why or where her family was.
Maya quickly put on some white breeches and wore a white tunic with a very light blue corset on top of it. She found a white longcoat and slipped it on, buttoning it in the middle and also she slipped on some boots as well. Maya sat on the ledge and put her foot on one of the rocks. She very carefully climbed down the wall, guiding her feet slowly. She hung her foot off when there were no more stones to step on and then jumped off.
She landed on her hands and feet, dirt on the palms of her hands. She wiped them off on her breeches and glanced around, sighing loudly.
"Well, that was easier than expected." She said aloud, glancing around and realizing that she was in some type of garden that faced a sea in the far distance.
Maya walked around the garden for awhile until she found a path where many various kinds of flowers lay along with gazebos and areas for dining were. She knitted her brows in confusion when she saw that this wasn't just any garden. What the hell kind of garden is this anyway?
She walked down many paths, getting strange looks from people. Maya scowled at each and every one of them. She found some peace when she turned a corner and saw a beautiful large water fountain except there was no water coming out of it…just lily pads and flowers floating around in it. She walked closer into the clearing and glanced around.
Maya froze when she saw a man writing something on a desk on the side of the fountain. He had the complete set up with ink, parchments, stamps, small desk, and a chair. He has a lined face with thin eyebrows, these black eyes and a sharp nose. His hair was lustrous and black with only a few silver streaks and recedes from his brow into a widow's peak. Maya could say that this man was handsome and she noticed the sigil on his golden coat.
House Martell, she thought. He is from Dorne…
Maya turned to leave when she realized that there was bad blood between her house and his.
"A beautiful woman should not turn herself away from a curious man without introducing herself at least," an accented voice commented from behind her.
Maya slowly turned around and stared at the man who was now standing.
"My lady," he said as he came closer. "Maya-"
"How do you know my name?" she questioned with a raised of an eyebrow.
He chuckled. "We are friends."
"You're a Martell," she said simply. "Why would you want anything to do with me? What is your name anyways?"
"Excuse my rudeness for I had forgotten that you do not remember me," he said with a small smile. He kissed her hand and his lips felt soft and warm on her hand. "I am Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne."
Maya smiled nervously at him. "The Red Viper…how do I know you?"
"Well, if I am being honest, it was I who knew you first and then about a fortnight ago we met finally." Oberyn confessed.
"Stalking," she said as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"I was not stalking you. I was merely intrigued by your battle skills and you of course. I watched over you."
"That's still stalking, my prince," Maya chuckled.
"I swear, my lady, on my life that I was not stalking you," he vowed comically which made her laugh.
"Enlighten me on how you exactly know me?"
Oberyn's hand moved a piece of hair out of her face and behind her ear, his hand lingering on her cheek. "You won't remember."
"Try me…please," she slightly begged. "No one here is telling me anything and-and I am surrounded by the Lannisters-people whom I do not like. Then there were these two Lannisters by my bedside instead of my brothers. They won't tell me anything and that makes me suspicious and do you know what happens when I get suspicious, Prince Oberyn?"
He smirked and asked amusingly, "No, I do not."
"I tend to get a little crazy and you know…hit someone until I find out the truth," she told him. "Why are you laughing?"
Oberyn laughed, "I am sorry, but I find this side of you…refreshing."
She rolled her eyes. "Ugh, just tell me already. Anything as long as it's something."
"You are persistent I will give you that," he said and she only glared at him. "Fine, I will tell you, but it will mean nothing to you."
"I don't care just please tell me already."
"You are the lovely wife of Jaime Lannister and it is the Lannisters' fault for what has happened to you and they are the reason for your pain and mine." Oberyn confessed.
Maya gulped. What? What pain is he talking about? Gods, I am so confused right now. "W-Why? Why did they do that to me?"
"Because you are what they fear most."
"Which is?"
"Rebellion and they're afraid that the people will rally against them if you escape from their golden claws. You are the key to the North and to Casterly Rock. You are loved by the people."
"Why? How? I didn't even do anything."
"You can't remember what you did. You did great and courageous things which drew my attention to you even more."
"Even more?"
"You and I were supposed to marry, you know? My brother wanted to make peace with the honorable Starks." Oberyn said as he walked back to his desk with Maya following behind.
"What?" she gasped. "My father would've told me. How can I even be married to Jaime Lannister of all people? I don't do the marriage thing and being a mother as well."
Oberyn laughed softly. "Well, sweet girl, I was going to agree to our marriage since I had heard the rumors about how very beautiful you were, but sadly, I was told by my older brother that Tywin Lannister managed to get the king to agree to his son instead."
"Somehow I think that you didn't like that," Maya mused.
Oberyn looked up and into her eyes which made her smile disappear. "No, I did not, Maya. The Lannisters like to take things from people-from our houses specifically."
"Your sister, yes?" she asked hesitantly.
"Yes."
"I'm sorry for what they did to her. It was wrong…I remember hearing about what The Mountain did to her and her children," Maya looked down at her knotted fingers as she said this to him.
"Why do you not look me in the eyes, sweet girl, yours are quite beautiful?"
Maya looked up immediately and answered, "Because I don't like rape or the murder of innocents especially children. I was almost raped and I remember the feeling of it. So talking about it brings up old memories."
Maya was surprised at how she was spilling her heart out to him. Maybe she did know him after all.
"I cannot imagine the feeling."
"I wished that no one would." She replied softly. "I'm surprised that a woman has not snatched you up yet."
Oberyn chuckled. "Many have tried and some have succeeded, but then I grow bored of them or they might do something that turns my attraction for them off."
"Okay, now I am very surprised that you haven't run for the hills yet after meeting me." She joked.
"Oh, I am not a man who can scare so easily. I like a challenge."
Maya smiled against her own will. "You can try, Prince Oberyn…but you will fail."
Maya turned and walked away from him, she could feel his eyes watching her as she left him. She turned a corner and her smile disappeared when she bumped into a broad chest. She groaned as she looked up into Jaime's face.
"Ugh, not you again." Maya said.
"You…do you I even want to know how you managed to get out of our room?"
"Do I even want to know why or how I got roped into marrying you, Lannister?"
Jaime froze and looked into his little wolf's furious eyes. Seven fucking hells, may the gods have mercy on me
