Episode 21: Too Far
Raimundo was making his way to the Barn. The Monks wanted to keep close tabs on the Gems to make sure progress is made on the Drill. He just left the Beach house and walking down the boardwalk. He began to think a bit. 'If Peridot told the Heylin about the Cluster, what chances are there if the Heylin could be making a machine to extract the Cluster before we can do anything.' Raimundo thought. 'If that happens, who knows what will happen to Earth if Jack, Wuya, and Chase rule the earth with extra help? Could we be able to fight them off as a result of it? Are we lagging behind? Do we need to kick it into high gear? I don't want to panic but it's an issue I need to bring up to the Gems.'
"Hey, Raimundo." Someone said. Raimundo looks to see Sour Cream, Buck, and Jenny. "Oh, hey, guys. Kinda been busy thinking." Raimundo said with a chuckle. "It's fine, Rai." Jenny said. "We saw you in deep thought." "Something going on with you and the Monks?" Sour Cream asked. "Uh, no. We are back on good terms, it's just…the Gems are dealing with an issue and I'm looking to touch base with them if they need any assistance." Raimundo said. "Oh, sounds serious." Buck said. "Well, as much as we want to chat, I think it's best for you to get to the Gems as soon as you can." Sour Cream said. "Thanks, Guys. I'll touch base with you guys a bit later." Raimundo said. Raimundo walks by the Cool Kids and back on pace to the Barn.
Back at the Heylin HQ, Jack was still looking at the radar when he notices something off. There was one person walking in Beach City, three people hunkering down in the beach house and that one person is seemingly walking towards the location of the 5 people. "This is highly suspicious." Jack said. "Why would there be a person walking to the barn? Unless…They know somehow." Jack began to think a bit. "What am I thinking?! I didn't tell them and there is no way they released Peridot to spill the beans...could they?" Jack said. He looks over the radar some more. He began to feel a bit differently on that mysterious extra person there. Like someone that he knows about. "I want to send a Spybot to it...but I'm still thinking it's Connie a bit. Wait a day or a few and then send in the Spybot to see what's going on. I made a promise to Chase." Jack said to himself. Jack yawns a bit as he hadn't slept at all after pulling an all nighter. "I guess I'll need to sleep on it a bit." Jack said as he stands up and walks away from the radar. He arrives back to his room and plops down on it. He thinks a bit. "Oh...what if Peridot didn't get poofed?" Jack bemoans as he began to nod off. "If only I had some extra time to save you." Jack fully falls asleep in daytime to catch up on some sleep.
Back at the Barn, Raimundo arrived in time to see Peridot on a child leash, working on a microwave. Peridot was mumbling something to herself. "Hello, Peridot." Raimundo said. "Gah!" Peridot said accidentally sending the screwdriver flying and out of her reach. "Grr…why must you bother me at this time, Raimundo?" Peridot shouts. "Hey, don't blame me." Raimundo said. "Take a chill pill." "Uh...what's a chill pill?" Peridot said. "Another Omi I see? It's just a saying." Raimundo quips. Peridot still looked a bit perplexed and went back to work on the microwave. Just then, Steven and Amethyst arrived. "Hey, Raimundo, what brings you here?" Steven said. "Oh, just checking up on how the drill is going?" Raimundo said. "Well, we did get distracted by the giant robot machine making a bit yesterday." Steven admits. "We are making a much progress as we can, even after that event." Peridot said as she tries to reach for the screwdriver. "If only I can grab that leverage optimizer" she added.
"Leverage Optimizer?" Raimundo said as he picks up the screwdriver "You mean a screwdriver?" "Yes, that's the one that was out of my radius." Peridot said as she grabs it from Raimundo's hand. "Hey, Peridot, what do you call this then." Amethyst said, pointing at her nose. "easy, a scent sponge." Peridot said. "Ehh, that's her nose." Raimundo said. Amethyst laughs a bit "Okay, what about this?" Amethyst said pointing to her eye. "vision sphere." Peridot said. Raimundo looks a bit perplexed as Amethyst kept playing with Peridot a bit. It all reaches ahead when Amethyst points at her rear. "This?" Amethyst said, holding back laughter. "THAT'S YOUR BUTT!" Peridot shouts. Just then, Steven and Amethyst laughs a lot. Raimundo also chuckles a bit. "Oh man, Peridot, you're just killing me" Steven said, slapping the top of the microwave. "I'm not! That would violate our truce!" Peridot said. "I think what he's meaning is that you're funny." Raimundo clarified. "Funny?" Peridot said.
Just then Pearl arrived. "Oh, hey Raimundo. Nice to see you here. Peridot, if you can get the magnetron out of the microwave we'll have everything we will needed...well except for the drill head." Pearl said. Peridot thinks a bit. "Why don't we just get an injector drill head from the kindergarten?" Peridot said. "There you go, Peridot, nice using your head." Raimundo said. "I guess that is something we can try." Pearl said. However, Garnet arrived with a stack of tires. "She isn't going to the kindergarten without a chaperone." Garnet said "What? You've got to be joking, right?" Peridot said. Garnet drop the stack of tires she was carrying. "You'll know when I'm joking" Garnet said with a stern tone. Peridot groans a bit. "Hey, Steven and I can go with her." Amethyst said. "Yea, we can keep a close eye on her." Steven added. Garnet thinks a bit and nods. "Alright, approved. Keep her in line, Amethyst" Garnet said "Will do, Garnet" Amethyst said. They took the leash and walk to the nearest warp pad and warp away.
Raimundo walks over to the would be drill in progress. It wasn't much but it was a good start. "Alright, looking good you two." Raimundo said. "Thanks, Raimundo." Pearl said. Raimundo began to think a bit. "What was this giant robot machine that you guys made? Steven mentioned it that it happened yesterday." Raimundo asked. Pearl chuckles awkwardly. "Well, if you like to know, Peridot and I made a large robots that we controlled and had a competition that would attempt to prove with bot is the best." Pearl said. "Well, what happened after that?" Raimundo said. "Well, we tied, Peridot got a bit heated over it, I sucker punch Peridot in retaliation, but the robot got destroyed after that." Pearl said. "Were you in it?" Raimundo asked. Pearl nods. "Oof, that must of hurt." Raimundo said. "Well, it was kinda worth it as Peridot realized she was in the wrong and we kinda are communicating on the drill machine." Pearl added.
"Alright, well, good to hear that. I take the robot is junked?" Raimundo said. "Yea, we had to clean it up." Garnet added. Raimundo nods. "Ah, okay. So, I missed the whole thing? I'm mixed about it. On the one hand, it would have been very entertaining to see but on the other hand it would only delay the project by one day, which could have been valuable." Raimundo said. "While that is true, I don't think it would be THAT important." Pearl said. "Well, we don't know when the Cluster activates, it could be any time, whatever it's tomorrow, weeks from now, or even years from now." Raimundo said. "It's a bit of a guessing game when it would activate and when it does, Earth goes bye bye." "Don't worry about it, Raimundo, we can handle it and we'll be able to knock it out." Garnet said. Pearl nods in agreement. "Alright, well, I guess I can report it back that progress is being made." Raimundo said. Pearl smiles and nods. "Let's hope nothing happens for the remainder of the day." Raimundo quips. Pearl laughs a bit. "Oh, don't worry, there would be nothing bad happening under our watch." Pearl said. Raimundo waves goodbye and began to head back to the beach house.

A bit later, Raimundo arrived back at the beach house. Omi was meditating again, as always, Kimiko was doing research on her laptop, and Clay was stretching out his body, having just trained off-screen. "I take it was a quiet day?" Raimundo asked. "Oh, hey, Raimundo." Kimiko said. "Yea, it's been really quiet on all fronts." "Yea, no Wu activated, Jack is likely sulking somewhere, and Peridot is working with the Gems. Things are certainly looking up for us." Clay said. "I wouldn't say that, Clay." Raimundo said. "What makes you say that?" Kimiko asked. "Well, they kinda got busy with making giant robots yesterday and are on the drill today." Raimundo said. "Robots?" Omi said, stopping his meditating. "Yea, but not just robot, I think it was mechs that allow you to pilot the machine from a cockpit." Raimundo said. "Ah, that is something." Kimiko said. "I mean, back in Japan, it's would be a good anime episode." Raimundo chuckles from that. "Yea, that is true." he said. Clay then sat down and began to think. "What do we do with Peridot once the Cluster issue is over with?" Clay asked.
Raimundo didn't know how to answer it. "Well, I can assume the we'll poof her again, bubble her, and forget about her." Raimundo said. "Yea, I think that is most wise." Omi said. Raimundo then remember something. "Tomorrow is Steven's birthday." Raimundo said. "Wait, really?" Kimiko said. "Yea, remember a few days ago that Steven mention that his birthday is coming up?" Raimundo said. "Oh, yea, that is true. What should we do about it?" Clay asked. "Well, I think we should surprise Steven and the Gems by celebrating with them. Also, we'll bring the Shen Gong Wus so they don't get out of sight." Raimundo suggested. "I think that would be great to do that." Kimiko said. "Yea, besides, we want to be as civil as possible and show our support for Steven." Clay added. Omi just nods. Raimundo smiles a bit. He's glad he made the right call a few months ago. Things seem to getting better and better each day.
