Phoenix Rising

I never thought I'd sink this low. Writing a story set in the near future of the Danny Phantom universe. Writing the hackneyed tale of the hero's daughter. But I did. And I'm hoping... That it's something different. That you might get something special out of this story that you don't out of others. That maybe, in my taking of this nastily overdone idea, I'll add something you haven't seen before. That maybe this story will be well written enough for you to not consider it all just one big fat Mary-Sue... Or maybe I could not. I might have done a really awful job. (Sorry if I did, by the way.)

Anyways, you chose to read this, so deal.

Now shut up, sit down, and read. :D (Oh, and reviews are love.)

Chapter One: Promise Me (Opening)

---

A wedding day. A cathedral. Midnight. A black wedding dress. White lace atop black velvet. A white tuxedo. Black lining the edges. A kiss, lips painted white meeting lips that were completely unadorned. Lightning. Thunder. Darkness.

---

We don't know what time we'll be there
But we won't show up till later
It will all look so much nicer
After all of us arrive

---

In- laws staring warily at each other. Close friends chatting amiably around a table. A small, black topped girl. Green eyed. Sitting in her mothers arms. Listening.

---

Promise me to pass the time
Dance with me on plastic tears
Kiss me, We won't feel alone
Till morning when we disappear

---

Learning.

Different. Strange. Words teachers said above her. She knew. Why wouldn't they play with her?

---

Though we all want to be noticed
There's no need for competition
Cause there's just no way of knowing
Where the camera points tonight

---

Pain. Anger. It hurts. Tears welling around her eyelids. Sliding down her face. She fought. She fought like her father. The boy... He bled. She had bled... And now she smiled.

---

Promise me to pass the time
Dance with me on plastic tears
Kiss me, We won't feel alone
Till morning when we disappear

---

They didn't like her. This school... It was too small. She felt too old. It was time to move on. She fought like her mother. With words. Her teacher... Why wouldn't he listen? He was wrong... Didn't he want to learn? Why didn't they want to learn? She wanted to learn...

---

We don't listen to each other
Cause we're all too busy talking
We'll tell lies about each other
Cause the truth is such a bore

---

They didn't like her. It was too big. This school was too big. She felt small again. She felt... vulnerable. She fought like... Like who? She didn't fight. She hid. She hid deep inside herself. Behind the black. Behind the veil of black that her mother had given her.

---

With the threat of dawn approaching
And our interest quickly fading
We will stumble home together
As we did the night before

---

This boy... Who was this boy? They had stood beside each other for so long... But they didn't know each other. They both wore black. They were both strange... Both Freaks. Different. They were different. Unique. Original. Special. Freaks. She wasn't alone. He wasn't alone. They were together. A "we". Neither knowing the other, rarely speaking. It was enough. Who was this boy? Her own. He was hers. And hers alone.

---

Promise me to pass the time
Dance with me on plastic tears
Kiss me, We won't feel alone
Till morning when we disappear
