Episode 25: Log Date 7 15 2
It's been an entire day since Peridot called Yellow Diamond a Clod. Peridot was still freaking out on how she did that. Jack has tried to calm her down but to little to no success. Jack finally decided to take a break and sits outside the barn. Just then, the Monks arrived. "Hello, Jack." Raimundo said. "Still trying to get Peridot calm?" "Well, duh. I'm taking a bit of a break from it. Look, I can't stick around for much longer. I need to give an alibi for Chase and make it really convincing." Jack said. "Yea, we been wondering...how did you know Peridot was no longer poofed? In fact, why did you send the Spybot to the barn?" Kimiko said. "Well, if you like to know…I build at a radar that was specifically looking for you guys and the Gems." Jack admits. "So basically another Spybot but long range." Raimundo quips. "You can say that. Anyway when I first looked at it, there was 4 at the beach house and 5 at the Barn. I thought it was either Connie or detecting Ruby and Sapphire. However, I didn't really shake off that feeling that it might be someone else. So I sent 1, and I can't stress it enough, 1 Spybot, Chop specifically." Jack said. "Wait, they have names?" Omi said. "Well, more of codenames, there was Chop, who blew up to smithereens as you saw, but I'm having issues remembering all of them, as I had at least made 50 of them." Jack admits.
The monks were surprised to hear this. Jack really was going to spy on them. Thankfully, Jack didn't plan on using all 50 of them anytime soon. "So, what made you bail out of the spy business?" Clay said. "Well, if I recall, it was when Amethyst, Steven, Raimundo and Pearl were at the Kindergarten." Jack said. "Oh, yea, back when Pearl and I had to fight Amethyst to get her out of her mindset." Raimundo said. "Yea, the injector crushed one of those and I guessing that caused you to retreat the bots?" "Yea, I think that was Firefly that got crushed." Jack said. Raimundo chuckles a little bit. Jack then began to ponder something. "What lead you guys to free Peridot?" Jack asked. The monks were intrigued on Jack's question. "Well, it was Steven that freed her." Raimundo admits. "Yea, it was involving the Cluster. I take it you knew about the Cluster too?" Clay said. Jack softly nods. "Yea, when Peridot got poofed, I wanted to swear not to tell you guys about it and go down swinging with the Earth in tow." Jack admits. "However, since you guys know, I can't really have a say on it." The Monks nods as Steven walks up to them.
"Hey, Jack, something going on?" Steven asked. "Nothing much, having a chat with the Monks." Jack said. "What are you doing here?" "Well, I was going to check on how Peridot is doing." Steven said. "Well, she's kinda still freaking out from our "shenanigans" with Yellow Diamond." Jack said. "I would like to ask if you are still salty over the deal being rejected." Raimundo quips. "If it may be frank, yea, I kinda am. Like seriously, it would have actually benefited both parties, the Diamonds get their superweapon and I get to rule the earth. Now that plan is nothing more than dust in the wind." Jack said with an agitated voice. "Oh, still a sore issue for you?" Clay said. "No duh, Sherlock." Jack said. Jack takes a deep breath and exhales. "I wonder what's been up with you and Chase? Has it been going well or trouble in paradise?" Kimiko asked. "Well, Chase voted to not save Peridot and Wuya did vote in favor to save Peridot. Chase and I had some arguments as of late. I got to be frank…I'm currently debating if Heylin is right for me." Jack admits.
This made the Monks and Steven do a double take. "Wait, wha?!" Raimundo said. "You're joking right?" "I'm serious. With all things considered, you guys having Peridot as an ally, Chase continuously disregarding Peridot's potential, the voting schism, and him benching me for the next showdown in exchange of attempting to rescue Peridot, I'm wondering why I've looked up to him as a hero in my eyes." Jack said. The monks and Steven were surprised to hear this. Jack is looking like he might bow out entirely. After all of that training, trash talking, and even some victories, Jack is at a point where he might leave it all behind. "I never thought I would hear that." Raimundo said. "So wait, if you leave the Heylin, would you still attack us or would just completely end hostility?" Clay asked. "To be honest, I'm not sure at this point. I need to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. See where things are going, what I need to do and maybe execute it…but not now." Jack said. Steven nods a bit. "Well, I better head to check on Peridot. You better get going and explain your situation, Jack." Steven said. Jack nods. "Alright then. Oh! Almost forgot to mention something. If there is 2 or more wus activating, I might send out the Chameleon-bot to cover for me for the showdown." Jack said. "Huh...Thanks for the heads up...I guess" Kimiko said. Jack nods as he climbs into his jet and flies back to Chase's HQ.
Log date 7 15 2 happens off-screen
A good while later, Jack arrived back and was middle of thinking. 'How is Chase going to react that Peridot is now a Crystal Gem?' Jack wonders. 'Did he foreseen this? What is his end goal?' Jack arrives at the meeting room where Chase was at. "Hello, Jack." Chase said. Jack snaps out of his deep though. "Huh...Oh, hello, Chase." Jack said. "I take it Peridot is poofed again?" Chase said. "Well, here's the thing…I did technically rescue Peridot." Jack said. "Really?…I don't see her." Chase said. "Here's the story." Jack said. "When I got there, Peridot just freed herself from the Barn and had the Monks and Gems hot on her tail. She had a giant robot and used it in her escape. She also had a diamond communicator and was trying to contact her diamond." "Alright then, So, was she able to get hold of someone?" Chase said. "Getting a bit ahead of ourselves, aren't we. Well, I managed to forced the Gems and Monks to pull evasive maneuvers to avoid my rockers and snatch up Peridot's giant robot with Peridot inside. A bit of fighting and one rocket to Dojo's face later, Peridot got a hold of someone… Yellow Diamond to be precise." Jack continues.
"Interesting. So, I take it you and Peridot managed to sweet talk that deal in?" Chase said. "Well, here's the problem…Yellow Diamond didn't take the deal…in fact she refused it outright. I'm a bit salty over the whole ordeal but what make it more problematic was that Peridot then suggested of terminating the Cluster." Jack said. "But after that, Yellow Diamond railed us and caused Peridot to call Yellow Diamond, her superior, a clod right in her face. This caused her to become an ally to the Crystal Gems and the Xiaolin Monk." Chase remained quiet. "It really shook me that all Peridot had to do was to tell off Yellow Diamond and she's a Crystal Gem all of the sudden." Jack added. "And I take it that you took the night to look at yourself at the mirror at your place." Chase said. "Uhh...yea, exactly." Jack said, lying a bit. "Understandable. You really cared for Peridot and I respect that. But…I think it's time to move on." Chase said. "Well, I've been meaning to mention something…I'm debating on whatever if I should stick around or not." Jack admits. "Since when?" Chase asked. "Last night…when I was looking in the mirror like you said." Jack said. Chase thinks a bit. "What can I get your support back?" Chase said. "Well, I guess if the next showdown you win, I might give it a few more weeks to try and hang in there. Failure to do so…I'll walk out on you." Jack admits. "Alright, I'll try my best." Chase said. Jack nods and they handshake each other. Jack is at the brink of leaving the Heylin and is also wondering if he should walk away from everything. The only thing that hold it back is Chase's deal. If he could win, he might prove his worth. However, there is going to be more than one that will occur.
