Disclaimer: I own nothing. The end.

A/N: This is hideously short, but just go with it. The song I wrote it to is short. But it works. It is also a one-shot. n.n

She closed her eyes as he kissed her goodbye. She knew he wouldn't return but she prayed with all of her might that by some crude twist of fate, she would see him again.

Goodnight, sleep tight

No more tears

She walked over to the bed they shared and she began to cry. She pulled down the covers that she would crawl under as her safe haven. She looked at the opposite end of the bed knowing he would never sleep there again. He opened the door to the bedroom and walked over to her. She started to snuggle under the covers. He sat down on the side of the bed where she lay.

In the morning,

I'll be here

He pushed her hair behind her ears and smiled at the beauty that was before him. He had had her for many years of his life. He had hugged her, kissed her, held her, snuggled with her and just talked to her so many times that it felt like they had been together for an eternity. He kissed her forehead gently.

And when we say goodnight,

Dry your eyes

She desperately tried to look him in the eye and smile. She wanted him to remember her smile, if nothing else, just that. She choked back her tears and threw her arms around his neck. She held her breath as he held her. No matter how hard she tried, the tears fell. His shoulder was soaked.

Because we said goodnight,

And not goodbye

He slowly started to unwrap her arms from around him when he heard her breathing slow although the sobs did not. He laid her head down on the pillow and pulled the covers up to her neck. He kissed her once more on the lips, only softly though. He couldn't wake her. He gently wiped the tears off of her face and ran a finger down her cheek.

We said goodnight

He got up and walked to the door and opened it and hung his head. He almost wished he had never fallen in love with her because then he wouldn't have to hurt her so. He took a step through the doorway. He looked back at her and one small tear escaped his eye. He took a deep breath and shut the door.

And not goodbye

A/N: Very short, I know. But I almost cried writing it. I'm such an emotional person. You must listen to the song while you read it and then you'll see why. It's called Goodnight and it's by Evanescence.

And it's about Hermione and Draco. Or Hermione and Harry. Or Hermione and Ron if you prefer. Whatever strikes your fancy. It's doesn't even have to be HP. Fill in the He and She with a character from anywhere. But Hermione and Draco fit for reasons of my own. Basically Draco is going to try and stop Voldemort from doing something, I don't know what, but Voldemort is going to kill him. Very sad, really.

Ah well.

Review please. I'm tired of begging though.

I shall direct you to the button though.
