Beca woke to an empty bed the next morning. Her hand was throbbing, as was her head. She ignored the fact that she woke up alone and slowly got out of the bed and made her way across the room into the bathroom. Going about her morning routine, with her head full of worries and insecurities was something she was getting used too. She washed her face gently and brushed her teeth, adding some pain medication to the routine before examining the bruising. She sighed standing back, and decided she would cover the bruises after she had some coffee and a little time to wake up. Grabbing her phone, she left the room with a deep breath.

She was only slightly confused at the house being empty as she prepared her coffee and made her way out to the back yard to enjoy the early morning sun. She didn't want Chloe to freak out too much so she sent her a message, apologizing for being MIA and telling her she had just been busy since the promotion and that Bree had been working late at the firm. When she got an immediate reply of relief from her friend, setting her phone aside she leaned back and enjoyed the sun on her face.

Chloe was in the middle of packing a box when she got the message from Beca and she closed her eyes, letting out a small laugh. She had always been one to worry. She replied to her, telling her she was proud of her and that she loved her. She had woken up before the sun, too excited for the move to sleep and started packing up her living room. She hadn't heard from Aubrey yet, though that wasn't too out of the ordinary, she usually only communicated over the weekends.

Content with Becas text, she went back to her packing and felt the excitement for the move filling her body once more.

Beca was just finishing up her make up, dressed in a light grey casual suit with her hair in a loose ponytail when she heard the door to the garage slam downstairs. Her whole body froze, her eyes locked on her reflection as the sound of Aubrey walking through the kitchen and up the stairs seemed to echo through the large house. The bedroom door was pushed open and she slowly peered out of the bathroom in time to see Aubrey disappear into the closet.

"Bree?" She called out softly, unsure if she should even be speaking to her Wife.

"Yeah, love, its me." Aubrey called back. Her voice didn't sound angry.

Beca stepped out of the bathroom, and hesitantly walked toward the closet. She had almost made it when Aubrey reappeared holding one of her many suits. Beca stopped and attempted a smile but she could feel her lips trembling.

"You look nice, are you going into the label today?" Aubrey asked as she walked toward her.

Beca had barely managed to nod her answer as Aubrey passed her and left a swift kiss on her cheek as she walked into the bathroom.

"Okay, well have a good day and please let me know if you're going to be home late?" She called and Beca turned back toward the bathroom. She wanted to ask why she had chosen a suit, something she would usually wear to the firm. However, Aubrey seemed to be in a good mood and she didn't want to ruin it by questioning her.

"I will." She said, opting to just go into the closet and grab her shoes for the day. "Um, I can pick up something for dinner, if you'd like? Just text me what you want." She said as she slipped her shoes on and gave herself a once over in the full-length mirror next to the closet. Her bruises were covered nicely and her sleeves and pants covered the ones on her arms and legs.

"Sounds good. Have a nice day." She called and Beca heard the shower turn on. She stood there for a moment, trying to decide if she should stay or go. After she heard the shower door close, she shook off her uneasiness.

Taking a few steps toward the bathroom so she would be heard, she called out to Aubrey, "I'm heading out, I love you."

"Love you too," came Aubrey's muffled voice.

With that she took a breath and walked out of the room.

That afternoon, Beca finished signing some last-minute documents and Kate was handing her a set of keys and a key card. She was elated and also a little nervous. She didn't realize how quickly this would be happening. She knew Kate was eager to leave and start her new life with her children in another country, but she didn't think she would already have the keys to the label in her hand.

"My lawyer will be in contact if anything comes up, but I'm pretty sure I've covered everything." She smiled. "I can see you're nervous, you're going to do great." She said reaching out and squeezing her arm. Beca winced and Kate saw it, looking at her curiously.

"I'm sorry, did I hurt you?"

"Oh, no. It's nothing, Aubrey and I have been going to the gym and I'm just sore."

Kate nodded and picked up her bags. "I hope you enjoy this new office." She smiled. "It's always been my favorite."

Beca looked around the large corner office, with double floor to ceiling windows, overlooking the city.

"I'll take good care of the label, Kate. I promise it's in good hands."

That night, as Beca pulled into the driveway, her easy-going smile that had been in place most of the day as she set up her new office, slowly fell from her lips at the familiar sight of her Wife sitting on the front porch, waiting for her. She swallowed hard as she parked her car and got out, trying to act normal, as she walked up the steps toward her.

"Hey, love." She said, her voice soft, but held a hint of wonder. Why was she waiting for her outside?

"Beca, we need to talk. Go inside and get changed, then meet me in my car." She said and walked past her and toward her parked car.

Beca watched her for a second, before taking a breath and doing what she was told. Ten minutes later, she was in the passenger seat of Aubrey's car and they were driving out of their neighborhood.

"Is everything okay, Bree?" She asked after a while and Aubrey gave her a tight-lipped smile, only taking her eyes off the road for a second to look at her confused Wife.

Beca accepted that she wasn't going to get a verbal answer. Not knowing what else to do, she spoke again.

"I moved into my new office today. Kate gave me the keys to the label."

"That's nice." Aubrey said, her tone suggested her mind was wandering somewhere else.

Seeing that she wasn't going to get more than a few words out of her wife, and she wasn't going to find out where they were going, she opted to look out her window at the passing trees and hope that everything was okay.

She knew she needed to worry when they pulled into Aubrey's dads' driveway.

"What's going on, Bree?" She asked softly.

"It's going to be okay, Beca." Aubrey said with a small smile that didn't bring her any comfort as she watched Aubrey get out of the car. Getting out and walking into the house was a blur as she was internally panicking.

Aubrey led her straight to her father's den where they found the man sitting at his desk, a glass of bourbon next him.

"Ah, good. You're here." He said picking up his glass.

Beca locked her hands in front of her and looked from Aubrey to the intimidating Man.

"Hello." She spoke.

"Beca, did Aubrey tell you why you're here?"

She looked at Aubrey again but the woman was avoiding her gaze.

She looked back at him and shook her head.

He looked from Beca to his daughter. "Then, Aubrey, you should tell her now."

Aubrey seemed to straighten her shoulders and Beca couldn't help but think she looked nervous. But, why would she be nervous? She wasn't the one that got hit for everything she did and didn't do.

Aubrey took a breath and looked at her. "Beca, my father has graciously agreed to let me come back to work."

She looked at him, and smiled. "Thank you, that is very-"Aubrey cut her off.

"Under one condition."

Beca looked back at her. "Okay?"

"We don't stop trying for a baby. And it has been long enough. You need to test." She nodded toward her father who pulled a box out of his desk.

Beca felt the blood drain from her face. She was lightheaded and her stomach seemed to twist in her body. She was going to vomit.

"I have been made aware that Aubrey lost her temper with you, and there is a possibility that you are not pregnant as a result. However, I can't fault her for doing her job. So, you will test here and we will all know together." He said pushing the box containing two pregnancy tests towards her. "Take them both."

Her vision was blurry and she felt herself sway slightly. Her job. In his eyes, Aubrey beating her was her job.

She didn't move. She couldn't. There was no way this was happening. She felt a grip on her arm.

Aubrey held her and leaned in. "Don't ruin this for me Beca." She growled. "Take the tests."
