Hi, welcome to my new story! If you don't like it... oh, how can I say this politely? Oh yeah, if you don't like it, you can fuck off. Oh, and I don't own Greek Mythology. Again, if you don't like it then you can leave.

Well, please review? And by that, I mean 'Don't Spam The Reviews With Novella Ads!'

Thanks, and please enjoy my crappy writing!

Eris was born at a very young age.

The day, or night rather, was stormy. Rain pelted down, more like ice than water, and grey boulders of clouds blocked out the moon, making the night darker than it would have been. Lightning made cracks in the sky, daylight shining through, or so it appeared. Zeus had taken over covering the sun, as he was so often to do when the night goddess was giving birth.

Nyx cried out once, a shriek of pure emotion, before a child's crying filled the large room. Her midnight blue eyes opened, as she looked down at the child, with love and curiosity. What did they look like?

The little thing was a girl. Nyx wasn't exactly sure how she knew, but the baby was definitely a girl. She already had a few strands of inky black hair, surprisingly a different shade than her mother. The baby opened her eyes, revealing dark purple orbs, shining with curiosity, and reflecting something that wasn't there. Nyx was fairly certain that there were no blood-covered warriors behind her.

Nyx walked to the window holding her daughter. She put a hand outside and channeled her magic. Slowly but surely, black mist started to fill the air outside her window. It rose higher and higher, swirling in a dance that only it knew, until it spread out, covering the sky like a blanket and chasing away Zeus' storm. Suddenly the stars appeared. No, really, just like that: one minute the sky was a mass of blackness, but a second later the sky was filled with tiny pricks of light. Nyx had to blink, for the darkness lit up once more as the crescent moon came out from behind a cloud. Satisfied that her work was done, Nyx left the rest of the night to Selene. She turned to the baby in her arms.

"What should I name you?" She asked the baby. The baby stared back, giving no help whatsoever. "Stella?" The baby glared. "No, you're right, too light-ish. Hmmm… Katiagída?" The baby stared at her like seriously? "Yes, too long, that wouldn't work. I… you know, I've always wanted a daughter named…" the baby braced herself. "...Eris." The baby unfroze. She liked that name! Seeing no negative reactions, Nyx smiled. "Eris it is!"

The sun shone down, golden rays falling down gently upon Olympus below. Eris marveled at everything around her, the crystalline fountains, the emerald plants, and the bright extravagant palaces. She was admiring a statue of a beautiful goddess when she heard a bright voice. She turned around to see a goddess around her age.

"Mommy, is there gonna be statues of me, too?" The girl asked, golden eyes shining curiously. Her mother rested a hand on her shoulder, sapphire blue eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Yes, little dove, and mortals will sing hymns to you!" She laughed.

"But mommy, I don't want them to worship me…" the little girl breathed.

Eris averted her purple eyes, staring very determinedly at a patch of pink flowers. She still heard the next words, however.

"Why ever wouldn't you want that? Would you rather be a worshipped daughter of the love goddess, or the spawn of some devil like Nyx? Just look at that little girl Eris! I bet she'll turn out just like her failure of a mother! Just you wait, Harmonia!" The little girl's mother ranted. The little girl gasped.

"Mommy! That's not very nice!" She exclaimed. "Even if that WAS true…" Harmonia was cut off by a crash. She and her mother spun around, to see the back of a little girl, no older than Harmonia herself. Harmonia heard sobs as the little girl ran away, straight into the arms of a purple-robed woman.

The goddess looked right at Harmonia's mother, who was… SMILING of all things! She looked down at her daughter, and picked her up, before storming over to Harmonia and her mother.

"How DARE you insult my daughter?!" She screeched. What would normally be a beautiful voice was ruined by the pure and unfiltered anger that filled the goddess' expression.

"L-lady N-Nyx…" Harmonia's mother stuttered. She NEVER stuttered! Harmonia was confused.

"Aphrodite." Lady Nyx growled. "Answer me. WHY DID YOU INSULT MY DAUGHTER?!"

"I… was she YOUR daughter, my lady?" Aphrodite laughed nervously. "I-I didn't know…"

"Y-you knew!" The little girl that was clutching onto Nyx cried. "You called me by n-name!"

"Come along now, Eris." Lady Nyx said gently. "They aren't worth our time."

The girl nodded and separated from her mother, only to immediately hold her hand. She turned to glare at Harmonia, and the latter almost gasped. Eris had dark purple eyes. Like, REALLY DARK. They were royal purple, but if it was darkened to a shade that you might see in the night sky. Harmonia could have sworn that there were a few streaks of yellow, the shade of a wolf's eyes, but the next second it wasn't there. Harmonia realized she was staring, and quickly looked away.

Oh, but the HAIR. It looked so smooth and silky! It was the color of black ink, an absolute color that just couldn't be replicated, it gave the illusion of absolute darkness. It shined like a halo of night around Eris' head, it was a soundless waterfall of ink, and it sparkled with starlight.

Harmonia was enchanted immediately. She suddenly felt ugly. Her golden eyes, that were rumored to retain its color from the sun itself, seemed to pale in the place of the moonlike purple orbs that belonged to this other girl. Harmonia's brown hair, the shade of ripe wheat, meant nothing when compared to the wild night that flowed down Eris' back.

Harmonia realized she was staring, and quickly looked away. But as Harmonia watched Eris and Lady Nyx leave, she was unaware of the sapphire blue eyes that were glaring at her angrily.

Of course, Harmonia was too young to know what love is. But Aphrodite was not.
