Hey sorry for the wait something came up on Wednesday, and I lost my motivation from the consistency to get updates to be honest. But I made this one a little bit longer than the others to get Katherine into it just like I promised.
Also I don't know what happened but I couldn't change the main character's for the story but for future reference Stefan is now officially a minor character, and Rebekah is more of a major character. Anyways enjoy the chapter let me know what you think.
Rebekah of course answered Hayden's questions right down to the letter. And apparently there was a lot that he didn't know that really is fascinating, amazing, and lastly terrifying since there's no better word that he can think of to describe the situation.
First off the entire vampire species began with Rebekah and her brothers Klaus, Elijah, Kol and Finn since their mother the original witch turned them into the first generation of vampires to protect them from the werewolves when they first arrived in North America over 1,000 years ago Rebekah laughed her head off when Hayden told her that she looked so damn good for her age. Back to the story, anyways because they were the first and that all the other vampires that exist today were created from them. Thus, because they were the first vampires and all other originated from them they earned the name 'The Originals'.
As for the deal with her older brother Klaus apparently that egomaniacal ball of shit was obsessed with becoming the very first hybrid, due to the fact that their mother had an affair with a werewolf which put him on thin ice with his alleged father, Mikael. Talk about daddy issues. Rebekah then proceeded to explain about how Mikael killer their mother and was turned into a vampire himself and a hunter who fed off of the very 'abominations' that he helped to create. And how using white oak ash from the tree that created them that they burned down it could act as a way to put them into sort of a sleeping beauty slumber or something that being said that by dipping a specialized dagger made specifically for original's in white oak ash and stabbing an orignal through their heart would temporarily kill them, until it was removed that is. And how Klaus had managed to dagger all his siblings including her for as long as he saw fit. That made Hayden want to tear the son of a bitch's throat out.
In regards to how he managed to become a hybrid in the first place that one Hayden had a little bit of a harder time understanding. Apparently his mom put a curse on him that would only allow him to be a vampire and the key to breaking the curse was the doppelgänger which in this case was Elena Gilbert one of his friends. Still that word doppelgänger remained foreign to him in some way. And how for over a thousand years he's been trying to find a way to break that curse and now he has and of course the rest Hayden could figure out for himself.
After it began to get late into the night Hayden and Rebekah began to just have some friendly chit chat. Of course when the time came for Hayden to find Elena she and her car were already gone, when he called up Damon who informed him of what happened with Matt and his ghost sister Vicki who tried to kill Elena. Damn he's said it before and he'll say it again normal is nothing but a dream for people like them, especially when shit like this happens.
Hayden put his phone back into his pocket and let out a stressed sigh, guess he's got some serious walking to do.
What Hayden didn't see was Rebekah walking up behind him putting her hand on his shoulder.
"What's with the grumpy face?" Rebekah asks humorously.
"Well I didn't win the lottery, and I lost my ride home so if you'll excuse me I've got some waking to do." Hayden fires back with that infamous sarcasm of his.
Rebekah laughs. "Even when your luck is down you still have a strong spirit, astonishing!"
Hayden looks at her smugly, "It's called pride sweetheart."
As Hayden takes the first few steps he suddenly stops clutching his stomach. Feeling an unwelcoming sensation beginning to hurt him on the inside.
Rebekah moves towards him, "What's wrong, are you alright?" She asks cautiously.
Hayden forces a smile at her while stifling a groan, he just remembered he hasn't fed since…Klaus turned him. So currently speaking he is utterly starved, almost to death.
"Yeah it's just that I haven't exactly figured out this whole blood diet that I suddenly find myself on and last time I checked I can't exactly walk down to the store and buy a cold six pack of blood, so I'm a little hungry right now and it's starting to hurt." Hayden explains.
Rebekah clicks her tongue. "Amateur, come on I'm going to find you someone to drink."
Hayden catches the key word in that sentence that stops him dead in his tracks. Looking at Rebekah with wide eyes, "Someone?" He questions.
It's Rebekah's turn to groan, "Relax I've done it countless of times I'll show you it's easy." She encourages.
Hayden leans towards her ear, "Look the last thing I want to do is risk going into a feeding frenzy so can't you just quickly run off to the hospital and get me a blood bag or something?" Whispering low enough so that nobody else can hear them but loud enough for the blonde to hear him.
She tilts her head, "Well under normal circumstances like your friend Tyler, I usually would do something like that around those lines, but seeing as you've starved yourself quite severely for the looks of it, you need blood from the nearest source, and the one quick enough is the one straight from the veins."
Rebekah walks up to some random girl with dark tanned skin wearing a blue dress of some sort.
"Hi I'm Rebekah," gazing into the girls eyes, "You'll do exactly as I say and remember nothing when I'm done with you." She compels the girl.
Rebekah takes the girl by the arm leading her somewhere a little more isolated and away from the others. Once they're far enough away Rebekah let's out a hiss and reveals her fangs and bites into the side of her neck the girl remains calm and careless as if she doesn't even notice what's happening to her own jugular right now.
Rebekah licks the fresh hot blood off of her fingers.
Hayden gets the smell of fresh blood in the air that makes his eyes change momentarily to yellow black and veiny red before fading back to their original dark blue.
Rebekah looks to Hayden, "Well what are you waiting for, enjoy." She offers holding the girl in place.
Hayden scoffs humorously, "Are you kidding, I've never done this before what if I can't stop I might kill her." He argues getting his point across.
Rebekah sighs with anticipation, knowing this was coming. "Sooner or later you are going to be in a situation where blood bags and hospitals won't be an option so the best thing for you to do is to learn how to drink from the walking blood bags that are everywhere, otherwise from what I've seen so far if you plan on starving yourself to the last minute I'd sad that you'd do about as good a job at controlling you hunger as Stefan does….which isn't a good thing."
Hayden slowly walks up to the hypnotized girl, looking at her wound watching the blood drip down.
He looks to Rebekah who gives him an encouraging smile.
Closing his eyes taking a deep breath he brings out his fangs and in one slow yet swift movement he bites down on her exposed neck taking in the feeling of his meal's warm red substance. Unlike before it has a less coppery taste to it. And for some weird fucked up reason he actually enjoys it. Feeling his new fangs being used for the first time sucking up enough to where Hayden is able to pull away.
Gasping for air with a bit of blood smeared over his mouth he sighs with relief feeling the pain subside now that he's satisfied his hunger.
Hayden retracts his fangs and wipes the remaining blood off of his face doing what Rebekah did, licking and sucking the remaining traces of blood off of his mouth and fingers.
Rebekah watches him with amazement at his restraint and discipline especially for a newborn. Biting her wrist open feeding the girl a small sample of her blood she heals the wound on her neck then turns the girl's body to meet her eyes.
Rebekah's eyes gaze into her's, "Go home and remember none of this." She compels the girl who nods and walks off.
Hayden whistles, "Damn, now that is a neat trick, I'll bet it comes in handy when ordering out on the go, and really keeps people calm when we're opening their veins." He remarks.
Rebekah giggles. "Something like that, I must say that you're quite disciplined for a newcomer especially a hybrid at that when it comes to self control when eating." She complements.
"Well no matter 'what' I am, I'm not going to let it change 'who' I am." Hayden states with sincerity as if he's still trying to hold onto his humanity despite everything that's happened to him him this past year or so.
The look on Rebekah's face falters for a moment, see those words touch her in some way.
"Yes, well now that we're covered that I think you should be fine for a little while, good night then." Rebekah says beginning to walk off.
"You sure you don't want me to walk you home, this isn't exactly your neck of the woods?" Hayden calls out.
Rebekah looks over her shoulder, "I think I'm more than capable of defending myself should a situation occur."
"Yeah I know I'm asking for everyone else's benefit, I'm pretty sure you can do more damage than Ronda Rousey. So I'm pretty sure I can imagine the trail of bodies leading from here all the way to your place." Hayden jokes.
Rebekah laughs. "Well for your information I'm currently taking residence in the Salvatore Boarding house, so now you know where to find me if you need anything, and I do mean…anything." She says in a sultry tone running her hand slowly down her skirt to the top of her leg hinting at what she actually means.
That causes a little hormone burst to a certain area between his legs at the blonde's little teasing gesture.
"Interesting, but I don't want to take advantage of a beautiful girl such as yourself until I know I've earned that privilege, if it's all the same to you." Hayden tells her.
This makes Rebekah slightly shocked and somehow very aroused. It's one thing to resist drinking human blood, but it's another to have a man resist going a few rounds of hot sex with her she knows how appealing she is to men in that sense and how…hard it is for them to say no, which she finds rather exciting.
She looks Hayden up and down one more time before blurring off.
Hayden of course walks home for the night, he has a feeling that things are going to get even more fucked up soon enough.
And of course they do, Damon found the vampire hunter Rebekah and Klaus's father, Mikael. And are currently planning on waking him up, goodie.
Also there was the little issue of how the others got on his back, for apparently being friendly with Rebekah, who Damon quoted is 'The enemy'. Of course, Hayden told them to screw themselves because no one controls him or what he can or can't do, more importantly who he chooses to hang out with.
He and Rebekah did seem to get along just fine and the blonde really seemed to enjoy spending time with him, although there were of course her attempts to…flirt with him. Which seemed a bit more than just flirting considering she put her hands on him a few times.
Rebekah did find his reactions rather adorable.
Hayden was currently on his way over to the Salvatore house late this night because he needed to see if they made any progress with those cave drawings or whatever.
Even though he's already been invited it he knocks on the door anyways because to him it's the same as walking in on someone whose using the bathroom which is an image he never wants to see but ultimately it's rude which he's not.
After waiting a minute or two and nobody comes to the door thinking that maybe nobody's home or their asleep.
Just as he's about to leave he swears he hears a girl on the inside, using his heightened hearing through the door he intact does hear a girl crying and he knows the owner of the voice, making his eyes go wide thinking that something is wrong.
Hayden swings the door opened and walks in to see nobody so far and then walks into the living room where over by the fireplace on her knees crying her heart out is Rebekah. From what he can tell she's been crying for a while from the redness of her eyes.
Hayden makes his way over with a concerned look on his face as he bends down to her.
"Hey Rebekah, are you alright, what happened, what's wrong tell me?" Putting a hand on her shoulder.
Rebekah doesn't say anything at first with her head still down. When she does look up at him her eyes are watery, with tears streaming down like a river.
"He lied." She barely gets out through her sobs.
Hayden hears her but doesn't know why she means.
"What?"
She sniffs back, "Nik…He lied to me, after all these years, all the time I've been by his side through all of it and…HE LIED!!" She screams out as more tears fall from her face.
"What did he lie to about, Rebekah?"
"He killed her, our mother the original witch, Nik killed her." She finally answered.
Wow! That's…big.
Rebekah had managed to calm down enough where there were still little hiccups every now and then as she told him what Elena told her from the drawings that they found inside the cave. All down to the part how when Klaus first became a hybrid before the curse was out on him he killed her because she rejected him, and made up the lie that their father Mikael killed her to keep him from losing her.
That part made Rebekah burst out crying again only this time Hayden pulled her in for a warm comforting hug bringing his arms around her back rubbing small circles trying to soothe the blonde who was crying into his shoulder.
Rebekah eventually brought her own arms around Hayden's back enjoying his presence. Especially right now being so emotionally fragile, which only made her like him even more.
Hayden shushed her sobs and brought her eyes to his, where Hayden wiped her last remaining stray tears away with his thumb.
"I'm sorry that happened to you, finding out that the brother you thought you knew turns out to have been lying to you for centuries…I can't imagine what that's like." Hayden admitted.
Putting his hands on her shoulders, looking deeply into her eyes. "But know this, you are not alone Rebekah, and that if you need anything, even if it's just a shoulder to cry on…I'll be here for you, because that's what true friends who care about each other do."
Rebekah sniffled, and then gave a sad smile.
"Look I know this may be a bad time, but since you look like you could use something to cheer you up, I can't think of a better time for this than now." Hayden says getting on one knee looking as if he was proposing to her.
"Would you, Rebekah Mikaelson. Have the not so much of an honor, of being my high school prom date to the dance this Friday?" Hayden says dramatically.
Rebekah laughs finding the gesture quite hilarious.
Inevitably she nods. "Yes, Hayden Kerbex. I most certainly would be honored to be your date, in taking me to my first prom."
Hayden smiles warmly at her.
In a few days time Prom Night has arrived and found out that the high school gym has been flooded. And Hayden was wearing your average poor excuse for a monkey suit, and tie.
His grandma had done the usual 'you look so handsome' speech.
He had decided to leave a little early though with a corsage and made his way over to the Salvatore house where he'd pick up his bombshell of a smoking hot date, Rebekah.
He strolls right up to the front door and knocks only for it to open to be met with an entirely different face one that belongs to his distance friend, Elena. Who is currently wearing a maroon long sleeve shirt and average jeans with her hair down.
Hayden obviously looks confused. "Oh hey Elena, uh, where's Rebekah I thought I was supposed to pick her up here?"
Elena hesitates a little before speaking, "There's been a change in plans." She simply states.
Hayden's expression changes, "What do you mean?" Sounding suspicious.
Elena sighs. "You might want to come in for this." She suggests.
Hayden does so, with her closing the door behind him.
He turns around waiting for an explanation and already has the feeling that something is wrong.
Hayden's expression grows more serious, "Where is Rebekah?!"
"She isn't coming, she was getting ready and was all dressed up but…I-"
"You what?" Hayden pushes for her to finish.
"I daggered her in the back, I'm sorry Hayden but we're going to take out Klaus tonight and like it or not I can't risk her having a change of heart and go off warning him." Elena explains.
Hayden's face becomes contorted, with raw fury.
Before Elena can say another word, Hayden gives a hard left cross to her face sending Elena staggering back a few steps. Holding the said of her face that he just punched.
Elena looks at him with absolute disbelief that he actually just did that.
"Hayden….wha…what the hell was that for?"
Hayden's anger is barely restrained due to the fact she has the nerve to ask him why he just practically bitch slapped her.
"I don't know, why don't you ask Rebekah. Oh wait you can't because according to you, you literally stabbed her in the back!" Hayden exclaims.
"I did that for her Elena, because what she told you she told me and not to be rude but she only shares that information with real friends not people who are looking for ammo on how to take down her brother, and that's what she considered you Elena, where is she?" Hayden asks looking around for Rebekah's body.
"Why?"
Hayden gives her a look, "Why do you think? I'm going to undo your handiwork."
Elena shakes her head blocking his path, "I can't let you do that Hayden, especially after what I just did she'll definitely warn Klaus now that we're plotting against him."
Hayden growls deeply revealing his hybrid eyes. Elena holds her breath waiting for what he's going to do next, but after a moment he backs off and his eyes revert back to normal.
"Okay, this one's free but next time you make a decision like this without me having a say in it when it comes to people I know, and more importantly people that I care about that…I consider my friends you better include me, got it." Hayden chastises.
Elena nods quickly.
Hayden turns before walking out the door, "Before I go you should know two things; one you'd better pray that nobody removes that dagger from Rebekah because I'll tell you right now when she wakes up there'll be hell to pay, and second you just used up all your luck, now don't try me again you bitch!"
With that he closes the door behind door behind him and heads for the secondary prom party location.
Which in this case, is the Lockwood Mansion.
It doesn't take him long to get there where he already finds Matt, Tyler, Bonnie, and Caroline.
Soon enough he finds out that Tyler who's leashed by Klaus was ordered to throw this party.
Of course a bunch of other hybrids showed up that Klaus turned, and on top of that Elena showed up as gussied up.
Which leads to where Klaus' old man finally showed up out front.
"Hello Niklaus." Mikael greets his son.
Klaus glares at his abusive Hunter for a father, "Hello Mikael, won't you come in?" He laments. "Oh that's right, I forgot. You can't."
Mikael tilts his head, "Or you can come outside if you want." He offers.
"Or I could watch my hybrids tear you limb from limb." Klaus counters. On the word out on the lawn in front of the house a bunch of hybrids mostly male, gather expressionless awaiting command from their master.
"They can't kill me." Mikael points out.
"True but it'll make a hell of a party game."
"All I have to do is rub these two fingers and they'll pounce." Holding his thumb and index finger together ready to snap.
"The big bad wolf, still hiding behind your playthings like a coward. Too bad that not all of them are as loyal to you as they seem." Mikael smugly remarks.
Klaus remains impassive. "What the bloody hell are you talking about?" He asks lowly.
Almost on cue, Hayden appears a few feet away behind Klaus, who is unaware of his presence.
"He means me, I've gone rogue." Hayden announces.
Klaus' looks back turning his head slowly taking in the look on his first hybrid's face with confidence and humor written all over it.
Klaus inhales, "How? It's not possible…you're bound to me by blood, you have to obey me." Eyeing the traitor.
Hayden chuckles with his hands in his jacket pockets, "That's the beauty of it, apparently for some unknown reason unlike all the rest of your bloodsucking attack dogs, I wasn't automatically sired to your ass after my transition, now isn't that something, it's kinda like the ultimate bird flip at you ain't it, God I'm enjoy myself right now." He explains rather enjoying the look of shock on Klaus' face.
Klaus' expression darkens at Hayden before turning back to his father, who shares the sentiment.
"You only forget. They may be sired by you, but they're still part vampire, and they can be compelled by me." Mikael reminds.
Not a moment too soon Mindy appears next to Mikael, and in her arms is a struggling Elena which she shoves into Mikael's grasp. And he of course is letting out a low chuckle, which only seems to further annoy Klaus who remains stoic as ever.
"Come out and face me Niklaus, or she dies." Mikael gestures to Elena.
Klaus put on his poker face and simply smiles back, "Go ahead, kill her." He encourages.
Elena shakes her head, "No Klaus. He'll do it!" She warns looking genuinely scared.
Klaus remains calm his expression hardened at his father.
"If she dies this lot will be the last of your abominations." Mikael points out.
"I don't need them, I just need to be rid of you." Klaus counters.
"To what end, Niklaus?" Mikael asks. "So you can live forever with no one at your side? Nobody cares about you anymore, boy!"
"Who do you have, other than those whose loyalty you've forced? No one."
"No one." Mikael repeats barely above a whisper.
A stray tear escapes Klaus' eye seeing as Mikael has struck a chord. His face is barely restraining his anger.
"I'm calling your bluff father, kill her." Klaus calls.
"Come outside and face me, you little coward. And I won't have to."
"My whole life you've underestimated me. If you kill her you'll lose your leverage. So go ahead, go on kill her come on old man, kill her…KILL HER!!" Klaus dares.
Mikael scoffs a chuckle.
"You're impulse, Niklaus. It has and will forever be, the one thing that keeps you from truly being great." Mikael tells him.
Next thing anyone knows Mikael stabs Elena in the back with a switchblade, causing her to gasp before hitting the ground.
This causes both Klaus and Hayden to let out their own gasp of shock. Klaus for obvious reasons none of which are sentimentally concerned. Hayden on the other hand despite his anger and possibly slight hatred for what she did to Rebekah, still he didn't want to see her dead.
Mikael is enjoying the moment who laughs watching his son's reaction.
A blurred figure moves past Hayden who doesn't see it coming and appears right behind Klaus, that takes the form of Damon Salvatore.
Klaus spins around only to be met with a stake to the chest from Damon. Letting out a cry of pain.
Damon acts quick slamming Klaus on his back against the ground driving the stake deeper into the original's chest as his yells of pain fill up the room.
Back outside Mikael turns to see Elena who rises back to her feet her wound healed up, which shocks Hayden of course.
Elena smiles deviously at the vampire…vampire hunter.
Mikael pales. "Katherine." He whispers.
Even Hayden picks up on that name, he looks confused, who's Katherine?
Katherine spins to face the hybrids puling out to grenade canisters hitting the buttons on both of them.
"Kaboom." She throws them up in the air over the hybrids as they explode they spew out what appears to be a concentrated mix of vervain and wolfsbane that burns the hybrids.
Back inside Damon who is ready to stake Klaus one last time finishing him off for good only for Damon to be tackled by his brother Stefan surprisingly. Dropping the stake that slides away being pinned by the throat.
Damon looks completely dumbfounded, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" He demands from Stefan who says nothing back.
Klaus watches gathering his strength back and acts quickly seizing the stake and runs at Mikael ramming it in his chest the force sending them off the deck and onto the grass.
Mikael screams in pain with Klaus rising off of him. The stake suddenly catches fire which spreads down Mikael's chest. That consumes his entire body.
Klaus watches his abusive father's corpse burn to ash. Taking in the moment, on that no one knows how long he's waited to see come true.
Back inside Damon looks at his younger brother who still has him by the throat.
"What the hell did you do?"
Klaus walks in observing the two brothers.
"He's earned his freedom." Klaus answers.
Stefan gets off of his brother standing up to meet Klaus' gaze.
"Thank you, my friend. You no longer have to do as I say. You're free." Klaus says freeing Stefan from his compulsion.
Stefan sighs. Looking back to see Damon gone.
Klaus turns his attention to Hayden walking over to the young man.
"Now what shall we do with you, seeing as I do believe that you were never sired which is a real mystery to me, but I've seen similar symptoms before so I know the easy fix, if you aren't loyal to be by blood then, I'll just ask you for it then." Klaus says circling Hayden who watches carefully.
Klaus gazes deeply and roughly into Hayden's blue eyes. "You will obey every command I give you, you will be loyal and out no one else's needs first but my own, you have no free will and you will not resist me or defy me in any way, shape, or form, got it!" Klaus compels.
Hayden doesn't feel any difference which shocks him to say the least.
Hayden shakes his head, "No."
Klaus throttles Hayden, slamming him against the wall. "YOU WILL SURRENDER YOUR FREE WILL TO ME!!" Klaus forcibly compels like he did when compelled Stefan to turn his humanity off.
"NO!!!!!!!" Hayden yells at the top of his lungs. He doesn't feel much of a difference, but it makes the moment feel more victorious for him.
He then shoved Klaus off of him skidding across the house down the hall.
Klaus regains his composure, and looks at the boy, completely baffled at his resistance.
"This isn't possible, you're not on vervain so how can you not be compelled?" Klaus asks more to himself than the young hybrid.
Hayden shrugs, "Maybe God's trying to send a message that you can't control or get every fucking thing you want."
"Now you listen to me boy, I created you, your allegiance is mine!!" Klaus demands menacingly.
Hayden looks at him with pure defiance in his eyes as they turn yellow and veiny with his fangs out.
"I don't think so." He says, letting out a loud roar.
Hayden charges him in a blurred motion. Delivering a hard uppercut to Klaus' jaw knocking the original hybrid across the room putting a sizable divot in the wall and like that Hayden turns on his heel and books it in a blur with a gust of wind following behind.
Klaus cracks his neck pulling himself out of the wall and back to his feet dusting off his shirt his rage filled expression was quickly replaced with one of amusement.
Chuckling evilly, "Run while you can Hayden, I'll catch up with you later. Once you cross me there no escape, you'll see."
Meanwhile Hayden is running almost faster than the wind ripping his tie off that just keeps flying in his face making in hard to see where he's going while at this speed.
He makes it back into town and rounds the corner stopping into an alleyway where he slides down against the wall onto the ground with his head in his hand, as he absorbs the gravity of the situation. He now realizing that he's just become one of 'Supernatural America's Most Wanted'.
Hayden groans and doesn't even notice the presence of a woman who appears at the end of the alley.
"So you're the rogue hybrid, huh?" A deep familiar feminine voice says off to the side.
Hayden's train of thought was put on halt for the moment bringing his head up to look at the source of the voice and there dressed in tight jeans and heels, and a black leather jacket with deep brown eyes and long flowing curly dark locks, it was none other than Elena Gilbert, or so he thought. There was just something about her that seemed off.
"Elena, What are you doing here?" Hayden asks a mix of confusion and curiosity.
The brunette chuckled, "Well little lost hybrid two things, first off I'm here because I heard interesting little rumor from Stefan that one of Klaus' hybrids ran off after finding out he wasn't sired like the rest and refusing to obey his master even compulsion without vervain, I'll admit I laughed so hard after picturing the look on his face when one of his new fanged mutts wouldn't do tricks for him, or couldn't be compelled without a little substance which is a new one for me, also I'm not Elena."
Hayden got back to his feet slowly and cautiously standing an inch or two taller than the mysterious woman.
Hayden looked even more confused now, shaking his head "Wait a minute what do you mean your not Elena, trust me she may have been out of my league as much as I was invisible to her but that doesn't mean I don't remember what she looks like especially after knowing her for three whole years since I moved to Mystic Falls?" He asks sincerely.
The woman let out a huff rolling her eyes upwards shaking her own head slightly.
"Looks like you've been kept out of the loop more than anyone else in Mystic Falls of what goes on in that town, tell you what since we both seem to be in Klaus' bad book I'll make you a deal, come with me and I'll fill you in on the what, who, and why once we get outta here, deal?" The woman offers her hand out to him.
Hayden hesitates for a moment before accepting the offer shaking her hand which had a firm grip for a woman.
They walked towards a black car just outside of the alley.
Before they got out the girl spun around, "Oh and I almost forgot my name is Katherine. Katherine Pierce." She introduced herself officially.
"Hayden Kerbex, nice to meet you." He returned the greeting.
"Likewise, handsome." Katherine winked getting into the drivers side of the car.
The little gesture made Hayden's cheeks flush a little. Despite the fact that she was a complete stranger to him, and looks exactly like one of his little fantasy crushes, somehow she was one the most beautiful woman he's ever seen in his entire life aside from Rebekah that is. And when a guy like him isn't really use to flirting with women like that, let's just say it leaves an odd sensation in his stomach, and another one between his legs although he'd try to hide that one from Katherine as best he could for his sake.
Hayden sees Stefan waiting in the front passenger seat so he got into the back behind him.
Katherine turned over the engine and took off with her two occupants.
It wasn't until she got outside of Mystic Falls where she stopped, she was currently on the phone with Damon who was more than pissed off at the fact that their plan to kill Klaus failed.
Although Hayden did catch how, 'Katherine' admitted it was a good plan anyways.
Honestly Hayden found himself in the middle of something that he wasn't quite understanding. Especially right now considering how uncertain he was being on the run after pissing off a thousand year old being who could use some serious help with anger management and daddy issues that's for sure.
Before she got the chance to hang up the phone, Hayden told her he wants to speak with him.
That glare Hayden was giving Katherine in the reflection of the rear-view was a clear sign not to screw with him, hmm tense and demanding Katherine likes she mentally smirks to herself. Passing the phone back to him.
Hayden brings it to his ear, "Hello?"
Damon on the other end back at his house looks surprised. "Kerbex, what the hell are you doing with Katherine?"
"Well considering the night I've had, the secret's out Damon. Klaus knows that I'm not sired to him and I just kicked his ass, so my best bet is that he isn't to happy with me and most likely is looking to hunt my hide down, so as sassy Elena so nicely put it, I need to put some distance between me and him, at least for a while, until the heat dies down." Hayden explains.
Damon had been listening intently and could see where the young man had been coming from.
"Well…in that case good luck to you, but a word to the unaware, be careful when it comes to Katherine, she's a minx, she'll screw you over in more ways than just one and could care less about what happens to you." He warns seeming a little on edge.
Hayden could already tell that there was a whole lot more to that story that he didn't know that was…personal. Nevertheless, he's still cautious and has a few tricks up his own sleeve.
"Thanks for the heads up, I'll watch my back. Hey I may be young, but that doesn't mean I can't be oh what's the word…sinister." Hayden reminds the older Salvatore.
Stefan who's sitting in front rolls his eyes at that comment, while Katherine gives a interesting look raising an eyebrow.
Well we'll just see about that now won't we, I'm always up to a challenge. She mentally notes.
"But do me one favor and keep an eye on my grandma, compel her if you have to because….because I didn't have the strength to say goodbye to her or compel her myself, just don't let anything happen to her please?" Hayden almost begs, his voice cracking letting in the fear that he may never be able to see his grandma again.
Damon agrees on the other end.
Hayden hands the phone back to her and says her goodbyes to Damon and then hangs up.
Katherine then sets the phone down and looks to an emotionless Stefan.
"He doesn't know where it all went wrong."
Stefan looks at her carelessly, "He doesn't need to know." He tells her.
A split second later Katherine swerves off to the side of the road and locks up the brakes. Putting the car in park.
"Are you good from here? Because I need to put about a million miles between myself and Klaus as soon as possible." Katherine urges.
Hayden leans forward, "Eh-hem?" Giving her a skeptical look.
Katherine notices what he means and rolls her eyes with a sighed groan escaping her lips.
"WE!….need to put a million miles between, ourselves and Klaus." Katherine exaggerates, to satisfy her new whiny little traveling companion.
"You've wanted Klaus dead for 500 years, why would you risk all that just to save Damon's life?" Stefan asks unsure of the shady brunette's motives.
Katherine looks at her ex with a smart ass glare, "I wasn't just trying to save Damon's life, Stefan. I was trying to save yours…your humanity." Eyeing him up and down noticing the differences.
"Let's just say I like the old you better." She admits.
Stefan shakes his head, "Nah, come on Katherine, I know you. You don't care about anyone but yourself. You never have." He remarks.
"You and I both know that's not true Stefan, I loved you. I loved Damon too." Katherine argues.
"Humanity is a vampire's greatest weakness, no matter how easy it is to turn it off, it keeps trying to fight its way back in." She explains.
Staring off Katherine sighs. "Sometimes I let it." Before looking back to Stefan who is obviously contemplating how to respond to that, seeing it's one of those rare moments where she is telling the truth.
"I can't let it all back in, I don't want to. Not after everything I've done." He tells her.
"Of course you don't want to, but if you don't let yourself feel, you won't be able to do what I need you to do next."
"What's that?"
She leans towards him, and whispers, "Get mad!"
With that Stefan opens the car door and gets out leaning down to take one last look.
"Goodbye Katherine."
"Goodbye Stefan."
Hayden meanwhile also took the time to get out of the car, hey does he look like a little boy who wants to sit in the back seat, no sir.
The two boys took the opportunity to look at each other and say their goodbyes.
"Hey, Stef. Give Klaus hell for me?" Hayden requests before opening the front car door as Stefan runs off with a whoosh.
Hayden sits and buckles the seat belt, closing the door.
Katherine looks at him for a moment just as she moves to put the car in gear Hayden interrupts her.
"You're wrong you know." He states.
Katherine stops and looks at him confused, "Excuse me?"
Hayden finally turns his head to face the evil Elena look alike.
"You're wrong about humanity being a weakness, and not just for a vampire but for anyone." Hayden claims.
"Oh really, you know just because you're a hybrid doesn't mean you know what it's like to shut it off, or to have to let go of everything you've ever known and loved for good and to keep going on and on endlessly, I'd give it about maybe 50-100 years or so, if you're still around that is and killed off a few dozen people or so then maybe you can tell me that humanity is your greatest weakness." Katherine scoffs.
"That's why it's so important, it reminds us of who we are and who we were before we became a part of the supernatural world. I may have been born as a werewolf just waiting for the day I was in the wrong place at the wrong time to become what I am now. You weren't born as a vampire, and at some point you were human regardless of how long ago it was you still remember what it's like to care, and love those who felt the same about you."
"Yeah well even as a human, that was a pretty short list."
"Still there was enough to even have a list, my point is what you are and who you are aren't the same thing. So when talking in the sense of what you are I guess you could say that humanity is your greatest weakness, but in the sense of who you are it isn't. Maybe I'll explain it to you someday, for now let's hit the road." Hayden says.
Katherine gazes at the young man, she can't put her finger on it but there's something about him that just seems….different. And judging from that tingling sensation of doubt in her mind that isn't a good thing.
"You're interesting, this could be quite the adventure you sure you're up for it?" She asks.
Hayden smirks, "Floor it sexy."
Katherine feels a tingling heat that makes her toes curl, daring, adventurous, and has a bleeding heart. Oh yeah mama likes.
As told she puts the car in drive as they take off out of Mystic Falls and into the unknown that lies ahead of them.
Please leave reviews, right now I've kinda burned out my motivation a bit so for those of you who really like my story I'd really appreciate a little opinion from my audience of what you think about the story so far and if you like where it's going or if you have any suggestions. Feel free. For the rest of you who just find this entertaining, well don't have too many expectations.
The next chapter will be a little bit of a wait because I have some thinks going on for the next few days so at most it'll be at least at the earliest of Tuesday to the latest of Wednesday. See you next time.
