…Dementors…

I stumble tiredly down the stairs. I plop myself in a chair at the table. Ava kept playing with her school supplies and mum had to lock her supplies up. It was quite the racket at 4 in the morning. Dad came in and kissed mum on the cheek. "Harry is safe. He's at the Leaky Cauldron until it's time for him to board the train. His great aunt or whatever was making 'comments' about James and Lily and he lost control and blew her up. She ballooned up quite a bit, but the Ministry was able to reverse it." he laughs as he poured some coffee.

I spread some jam on a slice of toast. Ava shuffled in the room sniffling. "What happened last night?" dad asks mum imeddiately knowing something was wrong. Mum explains while putting the used pans in the soapy water in the sink. "You'd think I harmed her something, and I thought Charlotte would take after you the most. Oh no, its Ava. All the mischief she gets into." mum rants fixing herself a cup of tea.

Dad just watches her with a smile and listens. "Since she takes after you the most, you deal with her. Ava and Charlotte both listen to you more than me." she mumbles sipping her tea. Dad gives us a look. "You've gotten me into trouble with you mother." he whines. I go back to my breakfast and Ava just sits there playing with her fruit salad.

On September 1st, we pile into the car and went to the station. Mum was giving Ava and Lucas a talking to before they boarded the train. I got on the train and put my things away. I went back out to say bye to them. I boarded the train. Fred and George joined me in the compartment. Lee and Izzy joined us just before the train started to leave the station. Everyone chatted happily.

There was a jolt, and the train came screeching to a halt. "We're not there yet." Izzy mutters. There was something moving outside but I couldn't see much with the rain pouring the way it was. There was a chill in the air, and the lights had gone out. The compartment door slid open and Draco and his lackeys poured in looking terrified. Moments later a hooded figure swept in. It left after looking around. Fred shoved a still shaking Draco off his lap.

The train began to move again. We reach Hogwarts without anymore delays. We disembark and head towards the carriages. Luna was petting the Thestrals only she could see. We made it up to the castle and into the Great Hall. Ava, Lucas, Oliver, Emmett were sorted into Gryffindor. Adaya and Odeya were sorted into Ravenclaw. Aderyn was sorted into Slytherin.

I'd send letters to the others to find out how their first week was at their schools this weekend. For now, I enjoyed the feast. I was shocked though to find out uncle Remus was the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Draco could be heard making jokes about Harry fainting on the train or the state of uncle Remus' clothes. Before I could get mad, Fred and George brought up the story of Draco's reaction to the dementors. I stifle a laugh recalling the look on his pale face.

Classes were the same as last year just slightly more advanced. It seemed many people had been affected by the dementors. Ginny was in a terrible state. I hadn't really felt anything when I saw it, though.

I receive weekly letters from mum and dad asking if Ava and Lucas were behaving. With uncle Severus and Remus here, they were acting like perfect angels. It was highly uncomfortable. The first week of classes Draco got himself attacked by a Hippogriff. He acted like some great tragedy had happened to him. "The thing in real danger is his pride." I mutter as Draco was recalling the event for the umpteenth time at breakfast a week later. Ginny shook with laughter and Izzy nudged me.

I was on my way back from the Owlry when I ran into Draco and his friends. "Well, well, well. Look who we have here. The daughter of a traitor." he smirks. I look at him the boredom clear on my face. "Making sure your parents are still alive? Worried that Pettigrew is going to kill your parents and then come after you and Potter?" he sneers. I'm barely able to contain my anger. "Funny. Having to pick fun at someone else because your arrogance caused your pride to be wounded? Wouldn't be the first time. The Dementors searching the train did a number on you too." I snap with my hands on my hips. Draco went red. "Come on. This is getting boring." a voice from behind Draco sighs. I see Blaise Zabini leaning against a wall looking very bored. I went to pass them. I hear a tsking sound and uncle Remus appears from a side corridor and he heads for Draco. I look back, Draco has his wand out. "Attacking people who aren't looking isn't very nice." he looks at a Draco with an expression of a professor. Draco mutters something under his breath about uncle Remus' clothes and he and his gang go on their way.

"Making trouble?" uncle Remus asks turning to me. I look at him as innocently as I can manage. "I am as well behaved as my parents!" I look at the smirk growing on his face. "Do behave. Go on." he shoos me off and keeps walking. I turn around and went walking down the corridor. I see Luna skipping ahead. I skip up to her and we skip through the halls. Izzy was at tutorials. She really was following in mum's footsteps. Luna and I went to the lake to sketch. Ginny joins us a bit later.

After dinner I found Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the common room. Harry was looking at the scrapbook Hagrid had made for him his first year. "Charlotte." Harry looked up waving me over. I sit by Hermione who was doing a monstrous load of homework. "Can you tell me about Peter? I figured your parents might've told you." he asks hopefully. I think about it the hesitation plain as day on my face. Ron and Harry begin to poke and nudge me until I cave and told them everything I know. "He really just seems to me like the type to hide behind the biggest bully with the most power. Harry, I don't know him personally enough to pass judgement on him. You on the other hand have the chance to make sure he receives proper punishment. Just don't go searching for him." I gaze at the picture of his parents' wedding day. I point at him in the picture "At this point he hadn't betrayed your parents. He was still a very loyal man." Harry is quiet as he stares at the picture. "He would be better off in Azkaban wouldn't he. Thanks Char." he shakes his hair out of his face. He truly is his father's son with his mother's eyes.

I get up and went to bed. The next couple of weeks are boring. I had so much homework that I couldn't go outside to draw. Ava received a howler form mum for punching Draco after he provoked her. "Served that evil git right. I just gave him exactly what hed had coming," she states defiantly as the letter burns itself. "You could've just walked away dummy." Lucas mutters. Izzy says nothing just eats silently. "What are you going to do when you run into him then?!" Ava huffs in irritation. "Prove his arm is actually fine." Lucas shrugs like it's obvious.

I was relaxing in the courtyard coloring a picture I'd drawn in History of Magic. "Your family should tie up that little heathen you call your sister. She should have gotten a harsher punishment for what she did." Draco's voice drawls. He was walking over, gang behind him as always. "If you haven't come up with better acidic words than last time please leave." I wave him away like a fly. His face forms a sinister sneer. I throw a pebble at his 'injury' and he caught it with his 'injured' arm. "All healed I see. You aren't in as much pain as you proclaim to be either. Interesting." I smile. I put my things in my bag. "Unlike you I have better things to do with my free time. Bye!" I walk off leaving them all standing there dumbfounded.

"You shouldn't provoke Draco like that. You'll get into trouble." Blaise says as I turn a corner. I jump. "Oh, go back to your pure-blood agenda" I wave. A hint of a smile on his face. He lazily pushes himself off the wall he was leaning on and follows. "You know I saw what Ava did to Draco. Where'd she learn how to punch like that?" he continues. "Courtesy of my mum. Now shoo. I don't really want to be seen with someone who thinks Draco is fun to be around." I turn another corner. "You're very fun to watch. Well the pure-blood half." I turn to face him, but he's striding down the hall chuckling.

I throw my things at foot of my bed. I took a quick nap and then read the response letters I'd gotten from the cousins. The homework wasn't that hard to do just time consuming. Ginny borrowed mine to check against hers. I finished the last page of my sketchbook and put it at the bottom of my trunk. I grabbed the new one cracked it open. "You act just like Izzy does when she cracks open a new book." Ginny giggles from her bed. I think it over a second and hang my head in silent laughter.

I don't have a lot of time to work on the first drawing, so I left it for the morning. I braided my hair up. I put Ginny's hair up into intricate braids. I checked her homework while she checked the braids in the mirror. Izzy came trudging up the stairs. She was happy to be of help but was worn out from the back and forth running she did. "I heard from a student that you had a run in with Draco and Blaise." Izzy starts to say and Ginny gasps. I roll my eyes and sigh. "Draco was being Draco. Blaise was just telling me to avoid Draco or else I was going to get hurt." I put my sketchbook away. Izzy huffs and Ginny just looks confused. "Aren't you guys cousins?" she asked. "Apparently we aren't pure enough for them to acknowledge." Izzy scoffs. Ginny nodded as she took in Izzy's words.

It was the first Quidditch match of the season. I put Gryffindor themed streamers in Ginny and Luna's hair. I helped others paint lions on their faces. We made our way into the stands to find seats. We were watching the match eagerly despite the wind and rain. Izzy let out a terrifying scream. Harry had fallen from his broom and there were Dementors around him. Dumbledore walked onto the pitch and waved his wand and Harry's falling speed decreased. Harry was rushed to the hospital wing, and Ginny went to make him a get-well card. "We're going to get Harry's broom." Hermione whispered as she and Ron walked by. I nod and stand. I walk arm in arm with Luna and Izzy back up to the castle.

The next day was extremely morbid in the castle. Harry's broom had flown into the Whomping Willow and was crushed to splinters. Me and Luna had to force a blushing Ginny to actually deliver her get-well card. The Slytherins kept making jokes about Harry and were so high on their horse that every time I saw one acting uppity, I wanted to kick their legs from underneath them.

Ron and Hermione were constantly fighting. He'd been keeping a rat that he had found and was insisting that Crookshanks had been trying to kill it. "You know Harry, when you sit there like that you look like a kid who's watching his parents fight." I nudge him. He gives a weak smile. "Where'd he get the rat anyways?" I ask peering at the creature. "He found it in Care of Magical Creatures. Named the thing Scabbers." Harry snickers quietly so Ron won't hear. We laugh quietly until Hermione rises with a struggling Crookshanks in her arms. She went upstairs to put Crookshanks away. I organized her homework papers into finished and unfinished piles. "That bloody cat is a menace to Scabbers." Ron complained to Harry.

Hermione and Ron had another fight and were no longer on speaking terms. Hermione was always found underneath papers and books. She snapped at me and Izzy when we tried to help her. Izzy backed off looking extremely hurt. I stood my ground and helped Hermione with her work. "Apologize to Izzy when you get the time. She really values you as a friend." I sigh lazily as Hermione finished the last of her work. She nods looking ashamed and thoroughly tired. I help her clean up her things and lead her upstairs to her dorm.

Ron had just finished muttering things about Hermione and her cat within Hermione's earshot. Hermione tore from the common room with tears in her eyes. Izzy glares at him along with Ginny and rushes from the room after Hermione. I stand calmly cleaning up the mess Hermione had made in her rush. I smack Ron upside the back of his head as I pass. He made a move to say something, but I give him a stern look. I hop out of the portrait to go find the other girls.

I find them by the lake. It looked like Hermione had tripped. She had leaves and mud stuck everywhere. I help Ginny pull the leaves out of her wild hair. I put Hermione's hair up out of her face. Izzy was still trying to get her to stop crying. We didn't stay for Christmas this year. When we left it looked as if the trio might make up. We made it home with no problems. Mum gave us bone crushing hugs.
