Shenanigans
Fitz needed to stop. He knew he did, but kissing Liv's plump eager lips felt so good. Her tight little body was currently underneath his much larger one, writhing for his touch, as their mouths continued to explore and savor each other. That scent on her skin was driving him crazy in the best way possible. Fitz wanted nothing more than to rid the clothing that served as barriers between them and press his body against her heated bare flesh. It felt so right.
But he just couldn't bring himself to do it. Whatever this was between them, somehow already felt like something special. Meaningful. Or that it could become those things with a little more time, and they had plenty of time.
He didn't want to rush this. Or turn it into something that was ruled by hormones. And he definitely didn't want to do anything that reminded her of her ex. Fitz wanted to know more about her. Never before had he met a woman he enjoyed talking to as much as Liv. It was...well, it was nice.
And she was interesting and funny and kept up with the conversation. Nice didn't mean boring. She was sexy as hell too. He wanted to get her naked and watch her body respond to the things he did to her, but for now, he was content with getting to know her.
Knowing it was for the best, Fitz reluctantly rolled off of Liv and flopped his back against the mattress. Sighing loudly, he brought an arm up over his face, covering his eyes. His crotch was thumping with need. He was such an idiot!
Liv was experiencing her own inner battle. She was torn between being mad that Fitz had suddenly stopped kissing her and being bewildered that she had lost all sane thinking. Shoving both feelings aside, she focused instead on trying like hell to breathe like she hadn't been running a marathon. It took a bit of conscious effort to finally accomplish.
Not wanting the awkward silence to last another moment longer, she calmly said, "yea. That was probably for the best."
Fitz turned his head to look her in the eye. After a brief deliberation, he decided she should know how difficult it had been for him to do that. "I didn't want to stop."
"I didn't want you to." She admitted, looking over at him. Reaching for his hand, she twined their fingers together and held on. "But I do think we are a little..."
"Much more than a little." he interrupted quietly.
She was quiet for a minute. He was right. Choosing her words more carefully she said, "Okay. I think we are highly ignitable..."
"Great word choice."
"...when we are together. And that could be dangerous." She admitted, looking up at the ceiling.
"In the best possible way." He told her with a smile.
Her head turned back towards his, and she gazed into his sparkling blue eyes. She could drown in those eyes. Nodding in agreement, and smiling right back, she told him "In the absolute best possible way!"
The two of them grinned at each other in the semi darkened room. "I could use a drink. How about you?" Fitz asked.
"I would kiss you for a glass of water."
He leaned close and pecked her lips quickly, pulling back from her face to reveal a wolfish grin. "You just told me stopping our kiss was for the best. Make up your mind while I go get a few bottles."
She watched him reluctantly let go of her hand and get off the bed.
"I'll be back in a few minutes." he warned.
"Let me know if Quinn and Harrison are asleep yet."
"Why?"
"Because if they are, I want to go downstairs and screw with them. Put shaving cream on their faces, baby oil on their toes..."
"Leo should have some of that in his bedroom."
"Gross."
"I'm kidding. I hope he keeps it in the bathroom."
Liv crinkled her nose in disgust.
"That sounds like a solid plan. I like it." He flashed her a grin before quietly making his way out of his room and down the stairs.
The sound of the television could be heard, along with heavy breathing and...kissing? Fitz squinted toward the couch. The glow of the television showed his sister and roommate with their heads locked together. Caught off guard, and royally pissed off, he dashed for the light switch on the wall and loudly exclaimed, "what the hell is going on?!"
Quinn and Harrison squinted up at the older Grant and burst into laughter. From their side by side spots on the sofa, their laughter grew louder every time they glanced up at Fitz's angry expression.
"I said, what the hell is going on? The two of you are kissing down here?" he demanded angrily.
Quinn snorted, which made Harrison laugh even louder.
"Harrison! I will kick your ass!" Fitz threatened.
"Stop it. You're scaring us." Quinn replied in a bland tone as she got to her feet.
"And you...!"
"Shut uuuuup." Quinn said mildly. She wasn't even remotely bothered by her brother's antics. "Nobody is kissing anybody."
"Lemme guess. You're nobody and Harrison is somebody." Fitz threw back.
"Dude, that was lame." Harrison said with a sympathetic look.
"What's happening down here?" Olivia asked from the bottom of the steps. She had a death grip on the waistband of Fitz's sweats to prevent them from falling down.
"What's happening is that Harrison and Quinn are making out like horny teenagers! That's what's happening down here!" Fitz stated loudly.
Once again Quinn snorted. "That is not what's going on."
Fitz's head snapped back to his sister. "Don't lie to me. I know what I heard."
"And if that was what was going on, it wouldn't be any of your business!" The younger Grant firmly informed her brother.
Fitz took two steps towards his friend.
"Dude! I was not kissing your sister!" Harrison tried with his hands up in front of his chest.
Fitz shot Harrison a deranged look. "I expect her to lie to me, but not you. You're my friend."
Harrison opened his mouth to explain himself, but Fitz cut him off.
"Forgive me for not believing you, but your words earlier this afternoon about Quinn being hot just adds to my doubts."
Quinn turned to Harrison, giving him a sappy look. "Awww, you said I was hot?"
Harrison dipped his head, pinched the bridge of his nose, and shook his head back and forth at his best friend's sister. "You're not helping right now."
"I'm waiting for an explanation!" Fitz said exasperatedly.
"Shut the hell up, Fitz! We were screwing with you, okay? We were kissing the tops of our own hands to make you think we were kissing each other. Damn, who knew that practicing on your hand in middle school would pay off so handsomely later in life."
"Your heads were together."
"Yea, to make it look real, dipshit." Quinn spat out. "I'm not gonna kiss him. Harrison is like a brother to me."
Olivia pressed her lips together in an attempt to keep from laughing.
"Kissing your hands?" Fitz asked in confusion. In truth, he felt his anger begin to subside. "Please tell me that is a lie. I'd almost rather you were kissing each other than doing something as pathetic as that."
"Pathetic or not, you bought it." Harrison reminded him.
"You're terrible at being stealthy too, by the way." She told him, jutting out her chin. "We heard you coming the second you told Liv you were going to get waters."
"We might have listened at your bedroom door for a few minutes." Harrison admitted.
"What the hell, Harrison!" Quinn roared as she turned to glare at her co conspirator.
"What did you just say?" Fitz asked. His blood started boiling again.
"You heard me." Harrison challenged.
"And what the hell were the two of you doing up there? Huh?" Quinn demanded.
"You were listening to us?" Fitz accused. He didn't much like being on the other side of this type of questioning.
Quinn stepped in between the two men and poked her finger into her stupid brother's chest. "I told you not to flirt with my friends. And I know you heard me, because I heard you tell Liv all about it."
"Quinn, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to do anything to upset you." Liv tried to apologize.
Turning to Olivia, Fitz softened his voice and said, "you don't owe her an apology."
"Why were you listening at my bedroom door, Quinn?" Fitz demanded even louder.
Quinn waved her hand towards Liv, but kept her eyes on her brother's. "I'm not mad at you, Liv. You didn't do anything wrong. It was all this idiot!"
"I asked you a question." He said, looking down at his sister.
"I wanted to see if you'd hold up your end of the bargain, and you didn't. Asshole."
"In case you missed the memo, Quinn, we are both consenting adults, and as such, we can do whatever the hell we want. Like you just said about you and Harrison, it isn't any of your business. Screw your rules." He had no choice but to turn into a lawyer right now with her. She didn't need to be so damn crazy about something so stupid. Like she had the power to control human emotion.
"I think I should go." Olivia said meekly. The last thing she wanted to do was cause problems between Quinn and Fitz. She should have just gotten a hotel or gone to Quinn's house. "I'm sorry."
"I think that's probably a good idea." Harrison said, siding with Liv. She deserved so much more than to be a notch on Fitz's bed post.
"The hell it is!" Fitz declared.
At Liv's shocked expression Harrison added, "you two ladies could go to Quinn's place for the night."
"How did we get from you two were kissing to Liv leaving?" Fitz wanted to know.
"Because I caused an argument between you and your sister." Liv said. "I'm so, so sorry."
"No...you didn't." Fitz told her patiently while shooting daggers at Quinn.
Harrison wasn't a fan of how this was turning out. He had wanted to protect Olivia, but instead she just sounded deflated. He didn't want to be responsible for that look on her face. It was just so sad. He didn't want it to turn uglier than it had already gotten. He pointed an impatient look at his co-hort.
Quinn tried to ignore Harrison's warning glance. Flicking a quick glance over at him, she saw that he was still giving her that look. She rolled her eyes. She should have known he wasn't going to be able to keep his big mouth shut! "Fine! We were listening at your door. So sue me! It isn't as if anything big was going down in there. It was just some kissing."
"Then why are you making it out to be a case for the Supreme Court?" Fitz demanded.
"It's siblings messing with each other! It's what we do!" Quinn shouted.
"That's not even the important part." Harrison told his friend calmly.
"What's the important part?" Fitz asked.
"Don't ever question our friendship like that again."
"You called my sister hot earlier. I come downstairs to hear kissing sounds, and it's a stretch of the imagination to think that I considered that you might act on those thoughts?" Fitz asked.
"That's a fair point." Harrison agreed. "I can see where your mind would take you there, but we have been friends for a long time. I wouldn't throw that all away for a tumble between the sheets with your sister."
"No sheets." Fitz said mildly.
That stopped Harrison short. With a confused look he asked, "What?"
"You were on the sofa. There aren't any sheets down here." Fitz explained with a growing smile. He should have known better. He felt like an asshole for thinking his friend would be into Quinn. That feeling would pass though. Until then, he'd focus on his anger at his sister.
"You're an asshole." Harrison said without any heat.
"I get that a lot." Fitz informed him.
His friend's smile let Harrison know he was pretty much over his mad. Fitz was probably feeling embarrassed about thinking that one of his roommates would hook up with his sister. He let his brown eyes wander over to where Quinn stood. "I did say your sister was hot. For a second. I also said she was a crazy bitch after she nearly ripped my balls off."
Fitz chuckled as the perfect clarity of Harrison's earlier comment echoed in his mind.
"Harrison! You said I was a crazy bitch?" Quinn asked in the same tone as earlier, as she put her hand over her heart.
He nodded, but rolled his eyes as he did so.
"You say the sweetest things."
"I say true things." he told her.
"Oh my god! That really happened?" Liv exclaimed, covering her face with her hands to try to quiet her laughter. The second she did, Fitz's jogging pants fell to her ankles, revealing a pair of pink lace panties.
"Looks like that really happened too." Quinn said with a chuckle.
In a flash, Liv bent down and jerked the much too large sweats back up, holding onto them with a death grip once again. Looking around the room with large eyes as humiliation began to cover her face, she thought about darting outside, hoping a cab would come by and pick her up. But then she remembered her wallet was in her purse upstairs. The next best thing was running upstairs and locking herself in Leo's room until every fell asleep. Then she'd get an uber to a hotel and would spend the rest of her life avoiding the little group.
Harrison knew she felt embarrassed, and felt the need to lighten the mood. With a wave of his hand, he told her, "Don't worry about it. We've all seen each other in our underwear before."
Her brown eyes darted to Fitz and Quinn, who were both nodding. "Although Quinn hasn't seen me in my underwear since we were kids."
"And we're going to keep it that way." Quinn replied with a disgusted look. "But wow. You have great legs, Liv!"
Feeling immensely less mortified, Liv smiled and said, "thanks guys."
Harrison asked Fitz, "are we cool now?"
Fitz nodded. "As ice cubes. It doesn't surprise me it's Quinn who caused problems between us though."
Quinn sighed impatiently and rolled her eyes.
"What made you come up with the insanely stupid idea to listen at my door, Quinn? Was your Netflix show that boring?"
"No. It's actually really good. Funny too. I think you'd like it. But, how do you know it wasn't Harrison's idea?" She asked with a smirk, propping a hand on her hips.
"Because no guy wants to listen to his best friend with a girl. And, as we've already decided, you are a crazy bitch."
"Fitz." Harrison said quietly. "Don't be an even bigger asshole, man."
"You're right. Sorry, Quinn."
She shrugged at her brother. Her anger was pretty much gone by now too, but she found it very interesting that her brother had gone on the defensive in things that pertained to Liv. An apologetic look crossed her face. "It's fine. Do you guys wanna stay up a while and watch some more tv with us?"
Liv yawned as Quinn began to ask her question. She covered her mouth and said, "I think I'm going to bed. You guys feel free to stay up though. I can sleep through anything once I'm out. You won't bother me at all."
"Okay. Nite, Liv."
"Nite, Quinn."
"See you in the morning." Harrison told her.
"Nite." She cut her eyes to Fitz's, hoping to figure out what he was going to do. She really was tired and ready to sleep. He shot her a small smile and said, "nite."
It appeared he was staying up a while longer. That sucked. It was probably for the best though.
Mumbling nite back to him, Liv headed up the stairs. She made a pit stop in the bathroom to pee. Once she had washed her hands and turned out the light, she went into Fitz's room and closed the door. The events of the day were quickly catching up to her. Another yawn escaped her lips. She couldn't wait to get into the big comfy bed and rest her eyes. Before she could though, a hand covered her mouth, and a familiar voice in a low tone from behind her spoke near her ear, "I know you don't think you're going to sleep right now."
A/N - Blame the lame kissing on the hand thing on an episode of AP Bio I watched a few weeks ago. It was stupid, but hilarious. It seemed to fit in here. I have 12 words written for the next chapter, so please bear with me if the next update is a little late. After this Saturday, my next craft show isn't until the first Saturday in December. Plenty of time to finish this story. Thanks for hanging in with me. You guys are the best!
