A/N: This is my second Chilling Adventures story inspired by the idea of them two first meeting and a tiny glimpse of Harvey's relationship with Tommy. It's also primarily gen and and the start of the two's friendship.
Warnings: There is the occasional swear word. Also this story is unbeta'd so future apologies for any grammatical mistakes.
Disclaimer: I do not own the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and make no money from writing this.
Harvey under no circumstances wanted to let go of Tommy's hand clinging to it like it was his lifeline. He wanted his big brother to go to kindergarten with him or for them to go home together right now. He didn't want to be separated and so gripped even tighter causing Tommy to chuckle, even as he turned to lean down.
"Okay Harvey now unfortunately I have to get going to my school, but I know you're going to have an awesome first day! You have your dinosaur backpack, lunchbox, and pencil case with the jumbo box of crayons that I know you're going to have fun later coloring fun pictures for me. Right?"
Harvey did like drawing for Tommy and so hesitantly nodded looking up at him. Tommy smiled warmly. "There ya go. I'll bet you'll be making so many friends and having so much fun. The time will just fly by! And before you know it I'll be back to pick you up okay?"
"Okay," He mumbled in barely a whisper, though he knew Tommy understood. He always did.
"Alright give me a hug goodbye and I'll see you right at 3:15."
Harvey bit back tears trying not to cry and to be brave in front of Tommy. Tommy kissed his head and gave an extra tight long hug before letting go and waving goodbye, as he walked away. Gripping tightly to the straps of his backpack strap and lunchbox handle Harvey made the slow walk inside the classroom.
Once inside it was very loud, so loud in fact that Harvey froze. Many kids were either screaming or running around yelling. It all just made Harvey want to run and hide with his hands covering his ears. After the teacher introduced herself she told Harvey they had 15 minutes before they were going to start, so he could play with any toys he liked. Harvey didn't want to play with anything. He just wanted Tommy back.
Seeing a hiding spot that consisted of an igloo made from milk gallon jugs Harvey ran inside before sitting down in the back and then sobbing into his knees. He didn't like it here. Why couldn't he just stay home or go to school with Tommy? He wouldn't even cause trouble! He could just sit there quietly.
"Hey, why are you crying?"
Harvey looked up to see a very small girl with yellow hair, a red dress but black shoes and hair bow. He sniffed, wiping his face with his sleeve. "I miss my brother."
"Oh well he'll come back right? My aunts told me they will be back later."
"Yeah I guess."
"But my Aunt Hilda told me to learn lots of new things, make friends, and have fun! My Aunt Zelda told me things I'm not supposed to repeat and Cousin Ambrose told me to bring him back something new or cool."
She took a seat next to him. "My name's Sabrina. What's yours?"
"Harvey."
"Hi Harvey. See! Now that we know each other. We can become best friends!"
Harvey smiled tentatively, other than Tommy he never had a friend before.
"So what did you bring for lunch? My Aunt Hilda told me she packed an extra few cookies to share with the other kids. So you can have one if you want, especially if you don't have any cookies."
"Oh thanks and I don't know. Tommy made my lunch."
She let out a hum clicking her tiny black shoes together. "So what do you like doing for fun?"
Harvey perked up. "I really like to draw. Tommy says I'm really good at it. And I really like to catch butterflies, but my dad doesn't like when I do either of those things." Drooping down slightly his dad always got very angry for some reason, whenever he felt Harvey was doing things he shouldn't and not doing things he should. He never liked the right things.
"Well he should. Butterflies are awesome! And I'm sure you're the best drawer in the whole world." She stated as if it was a fact.
He couldn't help a shy smile. "Thanks Brina."
The teacher poked her head in to let them know they needed to come out, because class was starting. Sabrina grabbed his hand and led him out of the igloo onto the brightly colored carpet. It was the first time that he'd come back to realize that this would become a long standing pattern and eventual undeniable fact that wherever she went or led him. He would shortly follow her after no matter what.
