Chapter 46: What Is Gone Forever?
The moment the news sank in, the group walked like a mourning crowd at a funeral out of the Grinch's office and back into the room where they left Audrey and Amar with Mrs. Whovier. The living room's emptiness confused them until the delicious aroma of cookies came from underneath the doorway leading to the annexed kitchen. Beatrice opened the door for them, and soon enough, the aromas of multiple cookie flavors nearly hit them to the ground. There were mountains of cookies piled into blue plates everywhere in the big kitchen, even Mrs. Whovier was having trouble making her way through the labyrinth of almond, chocolate chip, pumpkin spice, berry jam, sugar, birthday dough, mint, cinnamon, lavender, strawberry, cherry, apple, salted caramel, and peanut butter cookies. The size of the snickerdoodle pyramid was just ridiculous.
"What the heck happened?" Crystal gasped.
"Audrey… either went overboard with making cookies for Amar…" Mrs. Whovier panted as she finally reached the group. Somewhere in the cookie labyrinth, an oven dinged. "Or she's emotionally baking."
Ozzy grabbed a chocolate chip cookie from a nearby stack, accidentally burying Charles in it. He popped his head out, a cookie sticking out of his mouth, prompting him to eat it. "Yum!"
"Hm, so good!" Ozzy licked her lips after eating her cookie. "She's got to be emotionally baking, because those cookies ALMOST rival those of Willywaffle Wonka!"
"Yeah, not happening." Beatrice shapeshifted her hands into canons that shot out colorful boxes. The boxes went on to swallow up as much of the cookies as they could before stacking up and freezing. The kitchen was finally cleared, revealing Audrey as she whisked up another batter while the oven heated up more almond cookies.
"Uh, Audrey, what happened?" Gothy asked.
"Amar got upset again," Audrey said quietly.
"IS ARMAGEDDEON HAPPENING AGAIN?" Ozzy looked up at the ceiling, hoping that it wouldn't collapse.
"No, he's having a tea party with snow abominations," Mrs. Whovier answered.
"You didn't fix his doll?" Gothy asked.
"No, I did. He was actually feeling better until, you know…" Mrs. Whovier hesitated, "…the sour topic of his family back in Auradon."
Except for Audrey, they all let out an 'Ah'.
"And along with displaying more of how well-informed he is, he also roasted Audrey. Beatrice, remind me to talk to Amar's parents at one point. They REALLY nailed on his education and awareness… and his tastes in coffee."
"You think his coffee tastes are impressive?" Beatrice frowned. "It's worse when DESSERTS are the main topic."
Gothy kept her focus on Audrey and tapped her on the shoulder. "Audrey, can we talk?"
"Sure, what's up?" Audrey scooped her batter into a baking pan and cut the cookies out with snowflake-shaped cutters.
"Can you look at me? It's really important."
"What, so I can say something that will cause someone to give me another speech of the reason I suck? Thank you, I already got my last one from Amar, and it stung."
Gothy looked at Mrs. Whovier. "The child is even more informed than Mayor Cindy Lou Who was at his age," the latter said in calm defense.
"O… K…" Gothy muttered.
"We're going to Hell, Audrey," Charles finally broke the news. "Apparently, the universe decided to throw in 2 phases of morality and spirituality testing just so we can find Cassandra on the moon."
Audrey pulled out some warm cookies from the oven, shoved in the latest pan, and slammed the door. She took a deep breath and looked at her friends, her glum expression now murderous. "Let me get this straight… I wasted nearly 2 months of traveling, went on a road trip around chaos with people after my hide… just to be told that we HAVE TO GO TO HELL?" Her nails sharpened into talons as she clutched onto the kitchen counter, crushing it in the process.
"We didn't expect to be told that." Gothy crossed her arms. "Join the club."
"Oh, shut up!" Audrey's snapping alarmed Gothy. "I already wasted a speech about your selfishness before the train got destroyed, and yet again, you're whining about how hard it is to reach your sister when you just got the answer being handed to you on a silver platter!"
"Audrey, you're not being fair…" Gothy frowned.
"Life was fair? I had no fucking idea!" Audrey shouted. "You have it easy, Gothy! Because you know what? Knowing you, you have nerves of steel, you'll survive the two phases, you'll go to the moon, find Cassandra, and lead on a fulfilling life!" She waved her arms in the air, failing to notice how thin and feathery her arms were getting. "I mean, you'll all get fulfilling lives while I'll be stuck in Hell possibly forever because I'll have to complete Alastor's deal WHICH WILL PROBABLY LAST FOREVER!"
"Audrey, your condition…" Beatrice began.
"GO BACK TO MACABRETOWN, DEETZ!" Audrey screeched, her hair and eyes glowing furiously pink. "YOU'VE GIVEN YOUR SHARE OF USEFULNESS, SO UNLESS YOU LIED AGAIN, GET OUT OF MY SIGHT AND DISAPPEAR LIKE THE HALF-GHOST YOU ARE!"
"That's enough!" Mrs. Whovier grabbed her by the feathery arms and led her towards the back door. She shoved a plate of almond cookies into Audrey's hands. "Your behavior is intolerable! Go bring these to Amar! Maybe the cold fresh air of Mt. Crumpit will make you rethink of how you just treated your friends, because if my daughter behaved the way you just did, that means I failed! Now go!" Mrs. Whovier pushed Audrey outside and slammed the door behind her. Exploding rocks, kicked snow, French cussing, and stomping footsteps could be heard from outside. Mrs. Whovier took a calming deep breath, calmed down, and walked over to Beatrice. "Sweetie, are you alright?"
"I am…" Beatrice wiped away a tear and immediately went for the nearest box of snickerdoodles. "I failed Audrey again."
"You haven't. I think she's just dealing with too much. What happened with Amar really affected her and I guess the news didn't make things better," Mrs. Whovier said calmly. "She just needs to understand that she can't speak that way to her friends… What are you doing?" Mrs. Whovier interrupted herself when she noticed Ozzy suspiciously looking around the cookie boxes.
"Last time Audrey got really pissed at Beatrice, the Radio Demon sent out a manifestation to berate her," Ozzy said. "I thought he'd manifest with the cookies or something."
"Nah, we're good." Beatrice chuckled. "Alastor doesn't like cookies."
"Shouldn't we worry about Audrey? Her condition is getting worse…" Crystal pointed out.
"If what you say is true, then she might need you all more than ever once you're in Hell," Mrs. Whovier spoke seriously. "My husband said that those who must go to Hell as a phase before going to the moon must resist the demons and temptations that could destroy them. Audrey has so much wrath I have never seen in an Auradonian refugee. She could easily cave into the demonic fury in her, and if she has a contract to fulfill with a demon, not only could her condition worsen, but she might be unable to go to the next phase with you if no contract is passed before the deadline. She could be trapped forever."
Meanwhile
Audrey kicked the snow as she marched, cookie plate at hand. She cussed at how no one seemed to understand her plight. Either that or the guilt of upsetting Amar twice in one day was really doing a number on her.
She reached the outdoor patio of the Whovier residence. She found Amar sitting in the dining space, toying with a plastic tea set with snow abominations sitting on the chairs across. Amar must have really needed to make his pretend party fun since the abominations wore top hats weaved out of pine branches and bowties fashioned from snowflakes. He looked solemn as he poured invisible tea into a cup and handed it to the snow abomination sitting next to him.
Audrey took a deep breath, expecting another speech from Amar as she walked towards him, plate of cookies still at hand. Then, out of nowhere, a ringing tune played out of nowhere. Amar put aside his teacup and pulled out a crystal ball, revealing the noise to come from it. "Incoming call from Demo! Incoming call from Demo!"
"Ooh, yay!" Amar squealed. He knocked on his crystal ball. The content distorted until the images of 4 heads appeared before properly revealing 4 kids in some sort of living room.
"AMAR!" They shouted happily.
"Guys!" Amar's eyes beamed. "I miss you so much!"
"We missed ya too, dude!" A brown-haired boy with blonde and blue dyes and a purple skull shirt said, giving a hand gesture in the crystal. If Audrey remembered well, it was a hand gesture she'd seen Ozzy and her fellow Rock Trolls use. Only this kid looked completely human.
"Aw, thanks, Mick!" Amar smiled.
"Are you doing OK? Were you attacked by monsters?" A dark-skinned, pink-dressed girl with puffy curly hair like pink cotton candy asked.
"I'm OK, Rosie. How are you guys doing back home?"
"The usual fun, but we're missing 90 percent awesomeness!" The fourth kid was rather unique. Round cheeks yet a sharp chin. A wide smile that made the lips so invisible to the sharp teeth they had. Chin-long hair that constantly changed between golden yellow, pine tree brown, and fire blue, always moving despite the lack of wind in the air. The only thing from their hair that didn't budge was the large mass covering their forehead and right eye. The left eye was one orb of pure whiteness with a single cat pupil that stood out on the kid's slightly tanned skin.
"Demo, we already talked about your attachment issues," Amar said.
"Funny. We just detached him from the front door," the 4th kid remarked. Her lilac purple hair was tied in a braided ponytail, revealing her dark pink horns covered in stickers. Her green feline eyes stood out through her glittery purple eyeshadow and lime green lip-gloss. Audrey could easily see that she wore a dress matching her hair, though she was curious about the green marks shaped like exploding stars that the small girl had on her cheeks. Or why a tail was poking out of her dress.
"I'll go along with that, Supernova. What are you guys up to?"
"Demo just told us that you were going down the highway to Hell tomorrow!" Mick said.
"Demo, have you been spying on me again?" Amar questioned.
"YOU'RE MY BEST FRIEND! I MISS YOU SO MUCH!" Demo could be heard crying in the crystal ball.
"I miss you too…" Amar sighed.
"How are those teens? Dude, I heard you were cruising with the Princess of the Rock Trolls! You gotta bring back an autograph for me, Amar bro! I beg you!" In the crystal ball, Mick could be seen outright begging on his knees.
"I'll try, Mick." Amar laughed.
"Are you sure you're OK?" Rosie asked. "You got that look in your eyes after you talk to adults and you probably made them cry…"
"Rosie, I'm fine," Amar's tone got cold. His friends in the crystal ball got immediately silent. For some reason, seeing this made Audrey believe that Amar had some sort of dominant level among his little group of friends. Like he was Mal to the VKs. A leader. She watched him calm down and take a deep breath. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have talked to you that way, Rosie."
"That's OK. Besides, didn't you say it was your first time outside of Witchachusetts? Maybe you're just homesick."
"One time, my daddy got sick after he murdered some cow haters." Supernova's disturbing, random statement caused many eyes to widen.
"Seriously, Sup! Leave your stories about your daddy's criminal record to when our buddy comes back home."
"Sí. I'll also try to bring back that autograph for you, Mick. I'll call you back. Adios."
"Adios." His four friends waved with big smiles before dissolving into nothingness in the crystal ball. Amar sighed and put the delicate item back in his backpack.
"You know it's mean to eavesdrop, right?" Amar asked out loud. Audrey flinched, unsure if Amar was talking to her. "I'm talking to you, Audrey."
Audrey blinked at his correct guess. She took a deep breath and emerged from her hiding spot. "How'd you guess it was me?"
"I'm a kid. I can smell cookies. Especially when it's cookies made from tears." Amar sniffed before licking his licks in excitement. "¡Galletas de almendras! ¡Mi favorito!" He took the plate of cookies and put it on the table. He gestured to a top hat-wearing snow abomination sitting next to him to get up. The golem moaned and got up, stepping somewhere else to start building its own snowman. Amar looked at Audrey and patted on the now-empty seat, encouraging her to come sit. Audrey processed the invitation and sat down on the cold seat while the small boy took a bite from a cookie.
"Yummy!" He said. "You're really good at baking! Have you ever tried making churros? Because my mamá makes REALLY good churros!" Amar took a second cookie and devoured it excitedly. Audrey chuckled, smiling as Amar went for a third cookie. However, his bites suddenly lost their joy. He ended the third cookie with a disappeared smile. When he reached the fourth cookie, tears began to slowly trickle down Amar's cheeks.
"Amar, I'm so sorry!" Audrey used her own sleeve to wipe away the boy's tears. "I didn't mean to upset you three times in a row today!"
Amar sniffed in between tears. Audrey cupped her hands over his cheeks, using a gentle touch as she stroked the remaining tears off him. "Amar… I don't want to hurt you… Not even by accident! I didn't mean to break your doll, I didn't mean to get you angry about your family, and I didn't mean to give you awful cookies!"
"No…" Amar sniffed, somewhat amused. "No, I meant it. I really like those cookies."
"But what did I do wrong?" Audrey begged. She felt herself agitating.
"Nothing. I just…" More tears came out of his eyes. "I miss home."
His words caused Audrey to remember what one of Amar's friends brought up a few seconds ago. Amar had never left his hometown until now. The little boy was probably getting all angsty, snarky, and destroying the elements through tantrums because those he cherished weren't near him. His previous anger at her was well-rooted.
"You know, we have to make a long stop in Hell before we find Cassandra," Audrey said, letting go of his face. "We could ask Mrs. Whovier to get you a ride back home."
"No thank you." Amar shook his head. "I said I'd stick around to help. I'm part Noceda. We NEVER give up."
"But it's Hell, Amar! I'm worried that you can get hurt!"
"Uh… I live in Witchachusetts," Amar said in confusion. "Nearly everything is deadly there. Leftovers from the Boiling Isles where most of my family lived. I even have my Tia Vee who's a magic-sucking basilisk."
Audrey frowned. "A magic-sucking basilisk… OK, I'm going to pretend that this is a norm."
"And you saw my buddies. Demo likes to mess with people by switching their mouths with their spleens. Rosie has a pink diamond bellybutton and she's got a giant grandma whose a diamond from outer space. Supernova is awesome, but most of the time she talks about her daddy who is in prison."
Audrey backed up a bit. "That must get a bit old."
Amar chuckled. "Yeah. It does, actually."
"What about Mick? He seemed nice."
"He is. We both got two moms, but his are human rockstars. He spent his life growing up in their tour bus until Demo accidentally hit it with one of their giant ping-pong balls." Audrey looked a bit disturbed by Amar's story. "Don't worry, Mick and his mommies turned out OK. They ended up buying a loft so Mick can go to an actual school with us."
"Why did a family of human musicians move to a town of witches?"
"They said it's because it's cheap. But my mommy thinks that's because they must spend less time with their family. My mommy said that one of Mick's mommies literally has one brother and 9 sisters, so when the WHOLE family gathers on holidays…"
"I pity the parents for the shopping." Audrey nodded in acknowledgement.
"Mick does have his Auntie Lucy visiting constantly. She really likes Witchachusetts." Amar laughed. Unfortunately, the homesickness kicked in and he started crying again. "I miss everyone. I hate that I've been sleeping in engine and not being tucked in by my mommy while mamá read me Azura stories. I hate that I saw Striker again and I'm not doing anything fun with my friends. I hate that Adam broke my doll because he thinks it's girly and I'm not near my family to support me. I'm angry that I haven't touched my workbooks yet and I miss going to school."
"I'm really sorry, Amar." Audrey wiped his tears away. "You have every right to hate or resent me…"
"I don't hate you, Audrey. And I don't resent you." Amar's calm response surprised Audrey. "I'm just don't understand why you abandoned your family… Did they really not love you?"
Audrey almost reached for him but held herself back. "I don't know how to answer that, Amar…"
"You don't have that look that my mommy or Gothy have." Amar stared at her. "That look where they really don't want to talk about their family because the family was bad. I don't see that look in you."
"Amar, my family was nothing like yours… I think they did love me, but they put their ambitions before me. And I had to deal with repercussions from everyone because they thought everything was my fault… My family didn't even stop me from running away. And you can't tell me that you'd be OK with the fact that they helped destroying different worlds just to build one where happily ever after is a lie?"
Amar got up from his chair and walked around the snow. The sun was preparing to set in the distance while snowflakes gently fell from the sky. "You think I don't know that?"
Amar: An island where things did blend,
I'll never see it since it all came to end.
A state with green oak trees,
Gone 'cause they wanted to play with earths and seas.
Isles on a boiling sea,
I see most of them but at a small degree.
Dead worlds, lost family.
It may not look like it, but it does hurt me.
Audrey turned her head to see that the snow abomination, the one who built its own snowman, had built a snow piano and was flawlessly playing a soft tune to go with Amar's sad song.
Amar: What is gone forever?
Gone forever?
Is it gone forever?
What is gone forever?
Gone forever?
Is it gone forever?
I don't know what I lost, if it's never, if it's a thought, or if it's forever.
What is gone forever?
Will I see it, ever?
Amar twirled on the snow. Soft coldness turned into a sudden rainbow-colored illusion surrounding them. Audrey could see a dark universe with planets and stars spinning around like Saturn's rings, individuals jumping off ships to attack natives, wars destroying cities, heroes being celebrated, and villains incarcerated, and lovers kissing in the moonlight. The illusion distorted to a less general perspective and a more personal one. For minutes, Audrey was quite certain she was seeing reflections of Amar's childhood. His mothers loving him to the core. His family spending time with him. His friends playing games with him. People applauding him for his magic. His grandmother giving him the doll. Amar saving an injured owl from being eaten by a snake.
Amar: Worlds and kingdoms, all now destroyed.
Heroes, villains, now in the void.
I'm still a boy, mixed legacy.
Gifts, or curses, there's no jealousy.
What else is there except everything?
Wishing to fix what is wishful thinking.
Where are the missing roots of my life's tree?
Can there be a day with my family?
The illusion dissolved. The sun was officially setting in the white-coated mountains on the horizon. Amar just sat down on the snowy ground, watching that distant sun. Three final tears escaped his eyes, fell into the snow to dissolve into nothingness, and then regrew as bluebells, pansies, and fameflowers.
Amar: What is gone forever?
Gone forever?
Is it gone forever?
What is gone forever?
Gone forever?
Is it gone forever?
I don't know what I lost, if it's never, if it's a thought, or if it's forever.
What is gone forever?
Will I see it, ever?
What is gone forever?
Will I see it, ever?
The snow abominations, snowman, and snow piano dissolved into massive piles of lifeless snow. Audrey went to sit next to Amar and took her precautions to not step or sit on the flowers.
Amar sighed. "The Dominican Republic, where my mamá's ancestors came from. Connecticut, where she and her mamá lived. The Boiling Isles, where most of my family is from. Nearly all of it is gone. I just… go with what there is… despite how much I want to know what I missed. That's why I want to meet my abuelas and my abuelo. They're parts of me I missed out on… and I really don't want to."
Audrey wanted to cry. Amar's words were too touching, they knew where to hit. Amar was so aware of what surrounded him and accepted it, yet he wanted so badly to know what he never got to meet in his heritage. He was no different than Gothy and Charles who wanted to find the sister they never knew. He was sort of like Beatrice, who really wanted to find a supporting figure and role model in a friend. He was like Crystal and Ozzy, who wanted to find the love they really needed. And he was no different than Audrey, who wanted so badly to find her life.
Redemptions really diverge, don't they?
Audrey found herself gritting her teeth and clenching her fists in struggle. "Man, I hate myself for what I'm about to do next…"
"What?" Amar asked.
"Amar… is it just your grandparents you want to meet or… did you want to see Auradon as well?" Audrey really struggled to ask.
Amar pondered. "Well, I want to meet them more than anything, but I don't mind playing tourists…"
"OK!" Audrey groaned and clasped her hands together. "Here's the idea. If you're really up for it, then you'll be going with us in Hell tomorrow. We're going to have to stick together and I need to fulfill a contract with my demon…"
"Oh yeah, the Radio Demon! Demo says he's a fun guy!" Amar got excited. "Are you two going to get married and have human-demon babies? I wanna babysit them on weekends!"
"Uh, no, we agreed that the whole hitch thing will never happen, but I'll take up on your offer if I ever have kids." Audrey's response made Amar pout. "Look, here's what I suggest. If you help figure out how to do the contract, if we succeed…"
"When we succeed."
"When we succeed and get out of there, I will find a way to bring you to Auradon for 48 hours so you can meet your grandparents. JUST for 48 hours. And, you know, if they want to come back with us, we can bring them with us, but if not… hopefully they'll survive December 21st."
Amar's eyes beamed. "You'd do that for me?"
"I'll try. But if you help me."
Amar pondered a bit. "Squeeze in helping me with my weekly tests when we're in Hell and babysitting me during my mommies' vacations and it's a deal."
"Shake on it?" Audrey held out her hand.
"You're the Radio Demon's client, I'm too young to do deals with devils!" Amar pushed her hand away.
"Really? You're just gonna trust me like that?"
"Yep! Because if YOU break YOUR end of our promise, I'll pay Demo with cookies so that they can change your head with that of a unicorn!"
Audrey shuddered. "The bad kind of unicorn?"
"Nope. Regular kind. You'll be hearing rave music in your head for the rest of your life!"
She shuddered. "Definitely keeping my end."
Amar then surprised her by squeezing her in a hug. It took a bit for Audrey to sink it in, but she returned the warm embrace to the child… until the peaceful moment was interrupted by loud sniffing. Audrey and Amar broke the hug, realizing that the older, male version of Grinchelda, probably her father, was leaning on a rock by the door and sniffing.
"That was the sappiest, sweetest thing I've ever seen an Auradonian do!" The Grinch wiped away his tears, earning some annoyed looks from the kids. He ran back inside. "HONEY! I'M LEAKING TEARS! WE GOTTA ORDER CHINESE!"
Audrey and Amar looked at one another in confusion before snorting out some laughs.
"Come on." Audrey nudged him. "I owe the others an apology… And I could really go for noodle soup. Haven't had that in ages."
Amar nodded in excitement. Audrey smiled, happy and content that she managed to patch things up with Amar.
A bit too happy that she didn't notice Amar's worried surprise when he saw Audrey's feathered arms and taloned fingers reverting back to their human form.
Hours later
Apologies and dinner had been rather quiet. Though they had made up, the group stayed mostly silent, probably due to the knowledge that they'd be going to Hell the next day. Grinchelda's parents had ordered more Chinese food than necessary, to give the teenagers much to eat and also to bring as leftovers. Despite his usual disdain for Auradonians, the Grinch had managed to be rather civil, even giving the visiting group their own bedrooms.
It was probably around 8pm when Audrey decided to prepare herself to go to bed. She had already tried an encyclopedia on Lorax-approved flora and she got sleepy by the first quarter. She straightened her bedsheets, pulled the curtains together to hide the window, and went to brush her hair one last time. The Fae glitter was still stuck on the strands, making them look like sparks on her hair if said hair was a log. Audrey nervously checked her hands; they didn't turn bird-like.
Despite how calm she tried to be, she just couldn't shake it off. By tomorrow, she'd be meeting the demon that supported her actions behind her back. The demon that called her the Queen of Mean. The demon who, thanks to another curse casted by a sorceress provoked by her family, was unwillingly betrothed to her.
The demon who didn't speak to her since his manifestation on the train. Audrey scowled at the thought of his silent treatment.
Audrey went to sit down on her bed when a knock came at the door. "Come in."
The door creaked as it opened. Amar stepped in, dressed in a purple onesie with a sea life motif and white kitty fuzzy slippers. His arms were stuffed from holding a homemade blanket, his Azura doll, and some sort of stuffed Jellyfish. His backpack hung over his shoulders. "My room is too cold… and badly decorated."
Audrey chuckled and tilted her head. "Is that your way of saying that you don't want to sleep alone."
Amar nodded. "I don't want to be alone right now… I already slept in the engine for days…"
Audrey cut him off by tapping her hand on the bed. Amar didn't hesitate and ran for it, jumping on the mattress in the process.
"Wall or nightstand?" Audrey pointed at the different sides of the bed.
"Nightstand, please."
Audrey lied down, making room for Amar to curl up next to her after he put his Azura doll on the nightstand. "You're not sleeping with her?"
"Azura has to watch over me when I sleep." Amar showed Audrey his stuffed jellyfish, giving it a small squeeze that made the toy create ocean wave noises. "Popo helps me sleep. My mamá gives him to me every time I have a nightmare."
"He's cute." Audrey spread the bedsheets over them. Amar waited until she did that to cover himself with his own blanket.
"He's a Portuguese man o' war. My mamá said that they get stranded on beaches and people have to watch out because they're poisonous."
Audrey rolled her eyes. "You're weird, you know that?" She ruffled his hair and leaned over to turn off the lamp on the nightstand. "Go to sleep. Or I turn Popo against you."
"You're weird too. And Popo will poison your dreams if you try turn him against me." Amar poked Audrey's nose. Audrey retaliated by putting her hands on Amar's stomach. Laughter escaped him as Audrey tickled him. "I give up! You win!"
"Go. To. Sleep." Audrey found herself smiling within her heart from hearing him laugh. Amar finally let out a yawn and snuggled his head against his pillow. Audrey sighed in relief and proceeded to lie her head down on her pillow. She felt something press itself against her chest and was surprised to find out that Amar had switched from snuggling on his pillow to snuggling on Audrey. However, seeing how passed out Amar, sleeping deeply with a smile, and soft breathing coming out of him, Audrey decided to just let him be.
By the time Mrs. Whovier and the Grinch quietly checked to see if the guests were sleeping alright, they looked fondly at the sight of peaceful slumber coming from the Auradonian and the young wild witch.
