Percy snapped his eyes open. Far above him was an extremely saturated blue sky. It was nice and sunny with a slight breeze blowing around him. He felt very comfortable in his position lying down
Percy deeply inhaled the air around him and found it to be salty. He was all too familiar with the smell, as it was the smell of the ocean and the city that he grew up in, New York.
After enjoying himself for a while, Percy realized that he should be in a different universe if he was to believe Chaos. He patted the ground a few times and pinched himself to make sure that what he was experiencing wasn't a dream. Feeling the pain from the pinch, he laughed out loud.
Chaos did it. He actually did it. Being that Chaos was pretty much nigh-omnipotent, Percy knew that Chaos could send him to another world, but he wasn't sure that Chaos wasn't just toying with him. Turns out, Chaos wasn't toying with Percy right now. He was actually in a new world. His blood boiled at what adventures and surprises awaited him.
Standing up in excitement, Percy was already in for the first surprise of his new adventure. When he stood up, he felt like he had too much energy. Walking forward, every movement of his muscles felt nice and easy. His joints also didn't make any complaints when he moved around. It was a very nice feeling.
It was when he took a punch through the air experimentally that Percy noticed that his arm was noticeably not wrinkled. He blinked a few times, then realized what was going on. He immediately praised Chaos with all his heart, something that wasn't common with the demigod.
Percy wasn't old anymore! He felt like he did in his prime all those years back when the Giant war was a fresh memory. He felt so good that he started screaming to nowhere in particular like an absolute lunatic. He couldn't believe how nice it felt back to being in his prime!
After a few minutes passed, Percy felt his momentary high leave him. He relaxed and observed his surroundings. He was in dense shrubbery with trees twice his height speckled around the area every ten feet or so. There weren't too many living things other than the plants around him. The climate felt very similar to the climate he experienced in the sea of monsters.
Deciding that the current scenery wasn't too interesting, Percy started exploring. He knew there was an ocean nearby or at least a salty body of water, so he started searching for it. As he was searching, he felt very strange, but he couldn't tell why. He felt that he was missing something, like part of himself was gone. He quickly shoved aside the feeling and kept his mind in the present.
Stumbling around through the terrain for a while, the view then opened up before Percy and showed him one of the calmest seas he had ever seen. It wasn't that there weren't waves or that there wasn't a current, it was just that the waves themselves gave off a gentle presence to them. It was very beautiful. He somehow felt both energized and sleepy at the same time while looking at it.
Thinking about how his body was back in its prime, Percy decided to see how strong his powers over water were. He stepped ankle-deep into the water, paused in absolute shock, then lurched backward falling into the sand. He felt a terrible feeling welling up in his gut. Wanting to verify the reason for the sinking feeling, Percy stood up to the shore and tried pushing the water away.
Nothing happened.
"gods dammit!" Percy yelled in frustration.
Percy couldn't feel his powers. He should have realized it sooner when he couldn't sense the ocean with his water powers and used his intuition instead. It explained the earlier feeling he had when looking for the ocean. He was at a complete loss of words and felt immensely disappointed.
Percy considered with all the might of his seaweed brain why he would have lost his powers. At first, the only reason he could think of was Chaos just showing the typical snot-nosed brat behavior of a god, but after considering it some more, it didn't make sense why Chaos would take away from his source of entertainment. He then thought about times when he couldn't sense water; the muskeg of Alaska; the room above the Mark of Athena; any river of the underworld … shit.
Percy facepalmed. The reason why he didn't feel his powers on the water wasn't because of Chaos, but because these waters weren't under his dad's domain. He was in a completely new world. These oceans didn't know of any Poseidon, and thus wouldn't submit to any son of his.
Well, at least for now these waters wouldn't submit.
Percy took a deep breath, calming himself down. He then gave a devious smirk. He wasn't about to let some disobedient water put him in distress, no, no, no. He was going to gain control over the waters of this world, and become lord over them. After all, he had controlled poison before, and while he wasn't going to go to such lengths as he did with the goddess of poison Alkys, he knew he would be able to eventually fluently use his powers in this world. From his perspective, organizing the Hermes cabin during sword instructing lessons would always remain the hardest thing to control.
With fire in his eyes and confidence in his stride, Percy walked up to the banks of the water again. He cleared away his distracting thoughts as much as someone with ADHD could, and took a deep breath inward, and softly exhaled. Focusing on the water's edge, he directed all of his will and energy at that single place, commanding it to move.
It did move … 3 inches.
"Shit."
Sighing in frustration, Percy was at least relieved by the proof of concept. At least he could control the water, even if it was just a tiny amount. He promised himself that he would get the hang of it. Nothing like good old life and death experiences to increase one's strength.
After thinking about it, Percy chuckled at how much he had changed since he was a teenager. His goal throughout the second titan and second giant war was to lead a normal life, to escape the horrors of being a demigod. He never would have expected back then that he would eventually find peace with the godly side of himself, and eventually fully embrace it.
Clearing away his thoughts, Percy thought about where he should go from here. He still had no idea where he was, so he made it his primary goal to look for civilization. He started following the beach, hoping to find a coastal town with a brilliant smile on his face.
(A/N) I'm not dead! I wasn't planning on leaving this story alone, but after submitting the first chapter, some deep things happened to my family, then after that, I was thrown into college.
This chapter is probably going to be the shortest one out of the entire story. After this, the chapters will go above 5k words. As for the schedule, just wait and see.
