I should probably be working on my 8-page and 3-page papers due next week...

TO THE FIC!

"Mr. Fenton!" Lancer exclaimed suddenly. Danny's head snapped up, and he looked blearily at the teacher who stood in front of the class.

"Kio?" Came Danny's reply, which made everyone turn their heads to stare at him. They hadn't all picked up on the echo in his voice, but they knew there was something up with him. Danny, clueless as ever, just continued to look at Mr. Lancer with eyes half-lidded. There were deep bags under his eyes.

Lancer himself was speechless for a moment, before a very confused 'huh?' finally made its way out. Danny tilted his head like a dog, looking very confused.

"Kio malbonas?" He questioned, again sounding very strange. It's felt almost like he wasn't actually speaking. They could see his lips move, but the sound itself almost didn't feel real. It seemed more like when you're in a crowd and think you hear someone -or something- say your name, but you turn and there's nothing there. The memory of the words lingered in their brains, but they couldn't get any meaning out of them. It was akin to being a child who didn't know how to talk yet, there were sounds but none of them meant anything. So, yeah, that definitely got the attention of the group of teenagers.

Lancer, bless his heart, cleared his throat and was willing to speak to Danny when no one else was about to. Some of them felt almost nauseous at the thought, as though it'd be dangerous or something. Which was kinda stupid, because even someone like Mikey could beat up Danny if he was struck with the urge. He was the personification of a twig, even if he started using hoodies last year to make himself seem less lithe. They all knew he must be the same skinny boy underneath.

"Seeing as this material will be on the test this Friday, my class isn't the best time to catch up on your sleep." Lancer made an attempt at sounding authoritative, but it ended up more shaky and nervous.

"S'ry," Danny replied, finally normal for once. But he just turned his head and laid it right back on his desk. The class as a whole just stared for a moment as his breaths evened out and he went straight back to sleep. How in the world-?

Okay, that whole thing was freaky, like even more than the normal "Fenton" kind of freaky. And that was setting a pretty high bar, seeing as Mr. Fenton regularly smashed through walls in buildings all over town before coating the occupants in green ecto-goop. It happened surprisingly often. There was a reason ghost hunter damage was covered under a lot of insurance plans in Amity. The Fentons might be better off than some, but they weren't that kind of rich.

"Uh, would someone be willing to take notes for Daniel? It seems he must really need the rest." Mr. Lancer called out. Lester agreed, mostly because he was already taking them down for Dash- not that Mr. Lancer knew that.

Class continued on, slightly quieter than it had been before… that. Mr. Lancer just set Danny's homework sheet on top of his bookbag and kept going. It was strange, to say the least. He was normally very strict about that kind of thing, the kind of teacher who said that nobody was allowed to lay their heads down during a movie because he wouldn't be able to tell if they were asleep or not. He valued education, and normally wouldn't stand for someone sleeping during his lesson. But, well, after the chills they all got from Danny's almost paranormal show, they understood.

When the bell finally rang everyone was on edge, especially as Danny's eyes opened and he blinked owlishly, sitting up with barely a care to the poorly-concealed stares pointed in his direction. He stretched, joints popping and cracking like he was 40 years old instead of 16. Everyone around him either moved slowly or as quickly as they possibly could. Some wanted to watch and see if they could get an explanation, while others just wanted to get out of there and away from the freaky Fenton. Danny's oddity today certainly hadn't helped the infamy of his last name.

Lester met Danny at the door, shaking like a leaf as he handed over a sheet of lined paper. Danny looked at it, confusion clear on his pale face, before a fanged grin spread across his features. Fangs that they'd never seen before. How the heck did he have literal vampire fangs? Was he a vampire?

"Thanks, you're a lifesaver." Danny said with his wide grin. He took the paper from Lester and shoved it into his hoodie pocket before bolting off to his next class, slithering between other students like a snake. Lester visibly sagged when Danny was far enough away, the tension in his shoulders dropping.

Later in the day at lunch, and well after tales of the events had spread, Sam could be heard shouting at Danny in the cafeteria. She was obviously trying to be quiet about it, but she was heard anyways.

"Did you use ghost speak in English class?!" Sam accused the moment she got their table, practically slamming her lunchbox down. Tucker sat beside her, obviously trying to hold in his laughter. Danny just looked at her with wide eyes.

It didn't clear up what had happened at all, only confusing people even more. If anything, it only added more fuel to the fire that was the Casper High rumor mill.

The language used for ghost speak is Esperanto.
