I love that you guys are so excited for this. you can thank Ariel. She's the one that gave me the idea. XD
Hopefully I do it justice in the next couple of chapters!
Y'all know, Fran betas, Jill, Ariel, and Pearly preread and keep me on track. I don't own anything but these crazy shenanigans these characters get into, and my readers make it all worth it. xxx
"Ladies and gentlemen, we have a special treat for you tonight!" Bella announces over the mic. My skin crawls. I can't believe I'm doing this.
But...anything to uphold justice, right?
"I'd like to direct your attention to the beautiful man to my left. He's pretty, isn't he?"
The women in the crowd cheer and holler, I may even hear a few wolf whistles thrown my way, and all I can focus on is that Isabella called me pretty. That should offend me, right?
Eh, fuck gender norms. If she thinks I'm pretty, then I'm fucking pretty.
"Let me tell you a little story about our boy here. He asked me out a couple of weeks ago."
More cheers from the crowd.
"I know, I know, I agreed to go out with him! I'm not stupid. But, then he ghosted me for two weeks."
Great, now they're booing.
"He just popped back up yesterday claiming he was on a work trip, and well...long story short, he's making up for it by singing for me. He's even been oh so kind as to let me choose the song."
Yeah, that wasn't part of the agreement but whatever.
"And I want you guys to decide if I should give him another chance afterwards. Think you can do that for me?"
The crowd cheers again, and nerves stir in my gut. I have no way of knowing if I sing well, but considering I never do it, I'm going to assume that's a real hard negative. I'm about to make a damn fool of myself in front of a whole bar full of drunken idiots.
I sigh, stepping up to the mic Isabella adjusts for my height. Once she's done, she puts her hand on my shoulder and leans up to whisper in my ear.
"How do you feel about Sting?"
No. No, she's not going to do what I think she is.
"Every breath you take, every move you make, I'll be watching you…" she sings in my ear, sending a chill down my spine. "I think it's fitting, but don't worry. If you forget the words, they'll be on that screen over there."
Her finger points to a monitor off to the side of the small stage, and then she's gone, leaving me to drown by myself.
I clear my throat, causing the mic to scream with feedback that makes me wince.
"Uh, I want to apologize before I begin for any ears I may cause to bleed tonight."
