Elliot's p.o.v

Life is always hard and busy, nobody said living and surviving in the world would be easy. Opening up old wounds and silencing the sweet pleasant innocent sounds of nature, it is a never-ending sacrifice. I give and give, but I don't receive nothing back in return. It hurts for me to always have to be the one to burn. I wonder whenever will enough be good enough. All I ever wanted was to be loved and appreciated, is that too much to ask for? Life is never fair, but at least I have hair and air to breathe through into my lungs. Life is all about making choices and sacrifices in which draws me closer to the sweet voices of angels, my dearly beloved ones.

Olivia's p.o.v

A barren closed womb, my silent and dark tomb. An empty cradle, needless reminders of what will and can never be. Dangerous high hopes, a continuous cycle of heartbreak. House of ghosts, our underground abyss, your disappointment. A steady decline, this deep longing of mine. Echoes of false hope, random unexpected miscarriages.

Elliot's p.o.v

You have just lost consciousness. I am shocked, speechless, and overwhelmed. Something is terribly wrong. I pray God may spare your life.

Olivia's p.o.v

Holding onto a slight chance, everything will be okay. A good day to die is not right now.

Olivia's p.o.v

A man's crying disturbs me from sleeping. Elliot is the man who has been crying at my bedside. "Who died?" I tease him. "Liv, you almost died. You fainted at the house. The doctor said you had a blood clot and collapsed lung. Surgery saved your life. I was waiting for you to wake up" he explains. "I am glad I am alive. Will I still be able to have children?" I ask on the verge of tears. "The doctor doesn't know if a pregnancy is possible. As for now, we should stop trying" he admits. Right on cue, the doctor enters my hospital room. I bombard him with questions about my fertility. He threatens to sedate me if I don't settle down. I try my best to stay calm.

Elliot's p.o.v

Maybe someday, baby, you will become more than just a fantasy. Maybe someday, baby, you will come out and play with me. Maybe someday, baby, you will understand how much I need and want you. Maybe someday, baby, you will be mine to hold and cherish forever. I hope you will love me too.

Olivia's p.o.v

Surfacing afterglow, haunted memories. A time to say goodbye and let go of dying dreams is right now. Random unspoken thoughts, echoes of regrets God's blessings or maybe not? Repression, an endless internal spiritual odyssey. Time's magical healing hands, infinite heavenly bliss. "May tomorrow be better than today", I pray. Even though I make mistakes, I am still loved.

Elliot's p.o.v

The never-ending sacrifice, a desire for something much greater. Repetitive False Hope, a spontaneous miscarriage. Making no sense at all, baby blue skies. Endless rhythm and blues, repetitive false hope.

Olivia's p.o.v

An unpredictable timetable, potential signs of pregnancy. Restless wandering doubts, Inconclusive results Lingering effects of a doctor prescribed medicine, one magical love potion. Voluntary freewill and sacrifice, echoes of what is yet to come. Revengeful karma, everlasting drama. An intense inferno, my great travail. Nine month miracles, our unborn babies, winter's hope.

Place: Elliot and Olivia's bedroom

Action: Elliot catches Olivia (on mandatory bedrest) writing in her journal

Elliot's p.o.v

"What are you writing? Is your journal entry about me?" I tease my pregnant wife. "This journal entry is not about you. I have been journaling just in case I may die in childbirth" Olivia shares with me. "You are not going to die in childbirth. We are going to raise this kid together. We are grow old together" I assure her.

Olivia's p.o.v (she is nine months pregnant and super close to delivery)

Recently, I have been experiencing Braxton hicks. These false labor pains signal my baby's impending arrival. I dread dying in childbirth. Before my time of great travail comes, I desire to reconnect with my daughter. I remember I gave Mercy up for an adoption twenty seven years ago.

Date: 1-22-2017

Place: The Stabler's house

Scene: The bedroom

Olivia (uncomfortable, she tosses and turns in bed): Elliot

Elliot (touches Olivia's stomach): It is time?

Olivia: I don't know with these Braxton hicks

Elliot: I can stay awake if you want me to

Olivia: No, please go back to sleep. I will be fine.

Elliot (closing his eyes): Ok

(Feeling the need to urinate, Olivia rushes to the bathroom where she experiences a "bloody show". She assumes the baby is dying until Elliot explains her mucus just plug came out. The breaking of Olivia's amniotic fluid sets things in motion. Elliot carries Olivia to the birthing pool where they prepare for the birth.

Olivia (disorientated, she sits in the birthing pool where Elliot massages her shoulders): I want to keep my daughter even if she is a product of my rape

Elliot (confused): We are having a baby boy

Olivia: Please stop pressuring me to give my baby up for adoption

Elliot: Nobody is pressuring you to do anything

Olivia: Her name will Mercy Rose Benson

Elliot (shocked): I am totally lost

Olivia (coming back to reality): El, what just happened?

Elliot: Liv, I don't know. You were in a different time and place.

Olivia (in the mist of having a contraction): I have a secret to tell you

Elliot: You don't have to tell me. I already know. I will be ready to meet Mercy if she comes looking for us.

Olivia: Thanks

(A midwife comes along soon enough to provide extra support for Olivia and the rest is history.)

Olivia (hyperventilating, she is in the final stages of labor): Help me

Elliot: Breathe, Liv

Olivia (hysterical): How can I stay calm when I am in labor?

Elliot (to the midwife): Is Olivia fully dilated yet?

The midwife (checking Olivia's cervix): She is fully dilated

Olivia (relieved): Finally!

The midwife (preparing to catch the baby): You can start pushing now

Olivia (pushing and screaming really hard): AHA..AHA..AHA

Elliot: GO LIV!

Midwife (encouraging Olivia): Push, Olivia, Push

Olivia (exhausted, she rests in Elliot's arms): Whenever shall I see Brody?

Elliot (touching Olivia's stomach, he talks to Brody): Please come out. You are giving your mom pain.

Midwife (checking the baby's position): The baby is turned sideways. Its shame that we can't go to the hospital. I remember travel is forbidden due to the winter storm, north polar vertex.

Elliot (worried): OH MY GOD

Olivia (having the urge to push): I have to push. I can't fight back the urge.

Midwife (turning the baby around): This is going to hurt alot

Olivia (screaming): AHA..AHA..AHA..AHA

Elliot (squeezing Olivia's hand): I love you

Olivia (sobbing): If I die, always know that I love you

Elliot: You are not going to die. Your pain is just only temporary.

Olivia (becoming tired): I fear I may not be strong enough

Midwife (checking her watch): The baby should've been born by now

Elliot (concerned): Whats the hold up?

Midwife (laying her hand on Olivia's stomach): The baby could be stuck in the birth canal

Olivia (her eyes grow big with concern): Stuck?!

Midwife: The baby needs to be delivered asap. Can someone please get me tongs?

Olivia: I will be better off at the hospital

Elliot: Liv is right

Midwife (getting out her cellphone): Its a good thing that I have my cellphone

Elliot: The longer Brody stays inside Liv, the quicker his health will begin to deteriorate. I can drive us to the hospital.

(Carefully, Elliot helps Olivia out of the birthing pool. The long drive to the hospital takes a huge toll on Olivia whose pain is beyond normal. Brody Cooper Stabler is delivered via an emergency cesarean section at the hospital).

Scene: The hospital waiting area

Elliot (pacing back and forth, he begins praying): God, please save Liv and our son

Doctor (approaching Elliot): Are you that man with the pregnant wife?

Elliot (choked up): Yes

Doctor: My team and I performed an emergency Cesarean section on your wife. You have a beautiful healthy baby son.

Elliot (still choked up): How is Olivia doing?

Doctor: Olivia is brain dead, therefore she remains in a coma. A brain aneurysm caused her health to decline.

Elliot (crying): I thank you for your service

Doctor: You can see Olivia if you want to

Elliot (sobbing, he follows the doctor to Olivia's hospital room): I will see her

Scene: Olivia's hospital room

Elliot (sitting down at Olivia's bedside, he holds her hand in his): I love you for giving me Brody

(No response from Olivia)

Elliot: Your purpose is not done here on the earth. Brody needs a mother and I need a wife. We need you in our lives. I believe you will recover from this brain aneurysm.

(There is still no response from Olivia. Heartbroken, Elliot cries realizing he has lost Olivia forever. He kisses her forehead then leaves the room. Olivia's ghost, Brody awaits Elliot in the nursery)

Elliot's p.o.v

A real tough choice, my decision to take you off life-support. Even if your time here on earth is cut short, nothing else matters except for your final moments. Red bloody roses mark the trail toward the end of this scary movie. I choke on the words goodbye. Crosses symbolize hope and redemption. A real tough choice. Taking care of everything that you left behind, I find peace of mind at last. My past, present, and future evolve around you. Even if you are not here in the flesh, I cherish your spirit.

Olivia's p.o.v (as a spirit)

You are alive and well, but I am rolling in the dirt. I can't reach out to you from beyond the grave. My absence can't quench the thirst in your soul. You must survive and thrive for those who need you the most

Date: 1-22-2021 (four years later)

Today is Brody's fourth birthday, but I overlook this special occasion. Liv sacrificed her life for Brody. I have struggled to accept her death. The midwife and doctors or the stress of giving birth, which one is really responsible for her death? This question bothers me all day long. I am in such disarray that I leave work early. I pick up Brody from daycare. We visit Liv's gravesite where I tell him stories about her. I treat him to a movie and pizza as a birthday gift.

Date: 4-10-2026

Brody's p.o.v (as a nine years old)

A forward backwards motion, an inconceivable unfathomable notion, a kind of grief that buries you. Relief is condensation, a dying passion, a small blueprint.

Date: April 21, 2026

Place: The Police Station

Situation: Mercy meets Elliot and Olivia's coworkers for the first time

Mercy's p.o.v (as a thirty six year old)

My research and various different sources including the adoption agency have lead me here to the police station. I am planning to meet Detective Olivia Benson who is my birth mother for the very first time. Confidently, I exit my car and walk into the building. I am greeted by a kind police officer named Elliot Stabler. Elliot has the prettiest and friendliest blue eyes that I have ever seen. "My name is Mercy Rose Benson Heart. I am here to see Detective Olivia Benson. She is my birth mother" I introduce myself. Elliot looks back and forth between my paperwork and me. There is a hint of sadness in his eyes. This name, Olivia Benson has stirred something deep within him. "Your paper work proves you are Olivia's daughter. You have her pretty brown eyes. Unfortunately, you will not get a chance to meet Olivia. She died nine years ago. She sacrificed her life for our son Brody" Elliot reveals breaking my heart. I long to go home where I can mourn for Olivia in peace and quiet. Elliot suggests for me to meet Olivia's coworkers. Besides Elliot, they embrace me with open arms and make me feel right at home.

Elliot's p.o.v

Mercy had Olivia's pretty chocolate brown eyes. Although Mercy resembled Olivia and she submitted paperwork proving she was her daughter, doubt creeped in my mind. Mercy agreed to take a DNA test. Brody and I went with her to the hospital. "The DNA test results reveal Mercy is Olivia's daughter" the doctor shared with us.

Mercy's p.o.v

The never-ending sacrifice, embracing her absence instead of her actual presence. A bittersweet love story, mine and her metamorphosis. I redefined and reshaped her life and vice versa

Date: 1-16-2027

Special Event: Mercy's 37th birthday

Mercy's p.o.v: Change rearranges everything. I will spring into action with or without you. Row your boat elsewhere if you want to. Cashmere fabric threads connect the dots between you and me. Unique describes this feeling of being wanted and needed. Leaves, we are, slowly drifting to and from random different places. Always transforming into something new on a daily basis, rotating circular arc, continuous uninterrupted metamorphosis.

Time Period: A Dream

Scenario: Mercy (37) dreams about Olivia and Serena. They are having a tea party in heaven.

Olivia: I have been waiting for you

Mercy: Why must we talk in my dreams?

Olivia: What can be any better than this heaven?

Mercy: The real world

Olivia: You need one great big last push back into the right direction

Mercy: Like a new purpose?

Olivia: Perhaps

Serena (embracing Mercy): I love you

Mercy: I love you too

Olivia (embracing Serena and Mercy): I love you too

(And then Mercy wakes up surrounded by love (Elliot and Brody). Olivia continues to watch over her family from heaven.)

Time Period: The Present Reality

Mercy (placing her stuff on Olivia's desk) : I don't expect special treatment

Date: February 7th, 2027

Mercy's p.o.v

Elliot and Brody accompany me to Olivia's gravesite. Emotional, I place a bouquet of roses next to her tombstone. "Happy birthday, mom" I begin my conversation with my deceased biological mother.

Mercy's p.o.v

My friend and former colleague, HR Knight dangles my body over the Brooklyn Bridge. He is a self-proclaimed dirty cop. He is wanted for selling and buying illegal drugs. His suicidal attempt quickly turns into a hostage situation. He has a loaded gun pointed to my head. He shot my service dog, a golden retriever named Olivia. I am ready to embrace death until Elliot and our colleagues rescue me. HR is arrested and sent to prison ASAP.

Scene: The Kitchen

Action: Preparing to go work, Mercy catches Elliot cooking breakfast

Mercy (shocked): What are you doing?!

Elliot: I am making breakfast for us, Mer

Mercy (taken aback): Mer?

Elliot: Mer is short for Mercy

Mercy: OH, I see

Elliot (offers Mercy a plate of pancakes): Here you go, Mer

Mercy (sitting down at the table to eat): Thanks. You are the first person that has cooked breakfast for me.

Elliot (with a smirk): Really?

Mercy: Yes

(Brody Stabler soon joins his father and sister for breakfast)

Mercy's p.o.v

After Elliot and I dropped Brody off at school, we went on to the police station. As usual, work challenged my faith in God and people. I didn't know if Elliot felt the same way. Interacting with coworkers and helping random rape victims comforted me. Unlike Elliot, I had a lot of desk work left to do afterwards. Elliot wanted to go home so that he may see Brody off the bus. He offered to stay longer at work. I assured him that I would find another way home. I promised to call him if I may need any reinforcements. Who knew riding in cab would send me to the emergency room? According to Elliot, I was involved in a horrible car crash. He would've been inconsolable if I died because I kept him connected to Olivia.

Time Period: A Flashback

Elliot's p.o.v

Mercy was so busy with counseling rape victims that she neglected her desk work. I offered to stay

behind at work for her, but she declined. She assured me that she would take a cab home. She

promised to call if she needed any reinforcements. I arrived home just in time to welcome Brody

home from school. The phone ranged nonstop while we ate dinner. At first, I didn't answer the

phone. I was growing worried because Mercy didn't join us for supper. I assumed she was stuck

in traffic. The phone ranged two more times and I couldn't ignore it anymore. The operator on

the other line said Mercy was in the hospital. The hospital called me because I was her emergency

contact. Brody and I rushed to the hospital where Mercy resided in critical condition after being in

a horrible car crash. Death appeared close until she regained her strength. She claimed she

talked to Olivia and Jesus. Their tender loving care healed her.

Time Period: The Present Reality

Elliot's p.o.v

"Good morning, sweetheart. You will have breakfast in bed this morning" I surprise Mercy. "I don't

like being on bedrest. I am absolutely bored. I miss going to work" she complains. "Your mission

right now is to get better" I instruct her. "However shall I spend my time?" she sighs. "Recently, I

have discovered your mother's old journals in the attic. I apologize for not giving them to you

sooner. You can read them" I offer presenting Olivia's journals to her. "Thanks, El" Mercy smiles

embracing me. I feel Liv's presence nearby.

Place: Elliot's house-The Backyard

Special Event: A Family reunion-A barbecue

Kathy (approaching Elliot): Hello, Elliot

Elliot (cooking hot dogs and hamburgers): Hello, Kathy

Kathy: I thank you for inviting the kids and me to the barbecue

Elliot: You're welcome. Brody and Mercy wanted to spend time with their half siblings.

Kathy: I understand

Elliot: I am glad you came

Kathy: Its always good to see you

Elliot: The feeling is mutual

Kathy: Mercy is lying about her true identity. She is an imposter.

Elliot (doubtful): I don't believe you. You watch too many Lifetime Movies.

Kathy: Why don't you believe me?

Elliot: I see Olivia in Mercy. Mercy does have Olivia's eyes. Mercy showed me her adoption papers.

Kathy: That doesn't change anything for me. I need proof, perhaps a DNA test.

Elliot: If Mercy was lying, she would've been in prison right now for fraud

Kathy (walking away from Elliot): Ok, whatever

Mercy's p.o.v

Depressed, I don't want to get out of bed. My heart is bleeding and grieving heavily for my friend, HR knight, who committed suicide. I don't understand why he committed suicide if his life was heading back in the right direction. We were as close as Elliot and my mother. Since he didn't have any family, I was made responsible for gathering and sorting out his possessions. Anyhow, Elliot comes into my bedroom and embraces me. These words, "I love you" comforts my soul.

Time Period: A Flashback

Elliot's p.o.v

"Something is wrong with my memory. I don't understand why I keep going back and forth between

the past and present. For example, I have been confusing my unborn son with a daughter whom I

gave up for an adoption twenty-seven years ago" Olivia informed the doctor. "As a result of your

stroke, you may have developed Retrograde Amnesia" The doctor confirmed. Olivia and I feared the

worst. Once back at home, we did further more research about Retrograde Amnesia. Olivia

requested for me to save the baby's life instead of hers if anything bad happened. She didn't want

to be revived if she went into a coma. I vowed to honor her wishes.

Time Period: A Flashback

Elliot's p.o.v

"Your wife might wake up. Are you sure you want to take her off life-support?" a nurse asked

me. I had hope Olivia would come out of her coma. I wanted to keep her alive for Brody's sake.

Brody needed his mother. There were only certain things that I could do for him. Olivia didn't

want to be revived, therefore I honored her request. The nurse disconnected Olivia's life-support

and then I cried.

Time Period: The Present Reality

Elliot's p.o.v

"You are my angel. I need you. Please don't die" emotional, Brody begs Mercy. Mercy has

experienced a terrible relapse. She is currently on her deathbed. Her care is out of the hands of

the doctor and nurses now.

Place: Kathy's Apartment

Action: While Brody is playing with his siblings in a separate different room, Kathy and Elliot have a heart to heart conversation in the den.

Kathy: Please don't play around with me. What is the real reason for your visit?

Elliot (choked up): Recently, I have been coughing up blood. I have visited the doctor.

Kathy (greatly concerned): What is your prognosis?

Elliot (choked up): I have cancer. You are the first one that I have told.

Kathy (crying, she embraces Elliot): OH Elliot

Elliot: We shouldn't tell the kids

Kathy: Why not?!

Elliot: I don't want them to worry about me. Big or small, cancer will not defeat me.

Kathy: Elliot, you are Brody's last surviving parent. He deserves to know what is going on with you. Who will take care of him if you die?

Elliot: Brody loves you. It is my wish that you can look after him in my absence.
