I DO NOT OWN THE BREAKFAST CLUB. SHOUTOUT TO EVERYONE WHO HAS REVIEWED THIS STORY. REVIEWS MEAN MORE THAN YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE TO ME.

(Luke's POV)

After my mom left, I went straight to my room. Claire was probably upset, but I just needed to cool off. I had always known and by this time had accepted that my mom didn't love me and was most likely never going to. The only problem was that it didn't lessen the pain at all. As I was wallowing in self pity, I heard Claire talking to Allison on the phone. The two made plans to meet up and do girl stuff. Honestly, I was happy for them. Claire's friends had abandoned her after she announced her loyalty to The Breakfast Club. As for Allison, she didn't have any friends besides the Breakfast Club. I was happy that they both had a girlfriend to hang out with. After Claire headed out, the phone began ringing again. No one was picking up, so I decided to take one for the team and do the honors.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Luke, it's me Brian," the caller said, identifying himself as my best friend.

"Hey Brian, what's up?"

"You know how last night, me and Andy were talking about getting a calculator for Larry Lester to make up for the whole buns taping thing?"

"Yeah?"

"Well, we were wondering if you wanted to come with us, we could grab lunch after?" I thought about it for a moment. Maybe I was in the same boat with Claire. I just needed some time with friends.

"Sure," I replied.

"Awesome, Andy and I will come pick you up," Brian stated as he hung up the phone.

About 15 minutes later, Andy showed up in his car with Brian in tow. I left the house and got into the back seat.

"Hey Luke, what's up?" Andy asked.

"Not much man, so where are we headed?" I asked as he pulled out of the drive.

"Radio Shack," Brian announced. "They got a new model that would make any mathlete cream in their pants." Andy nodded as we drove across town to the mall.

"So, how's your old man been?" I asked Andy as we walked through the parking lot.

"Same old son of a bitch," he replied. "I told him that I was going to the gym.

"That sucks," Brian remarked as we made our way through the mall. We finally got to Radio Shack and we started looking for a calculator. Andy and I left it in Brian's hands since we had no idea what we were looking for. After a few minutes of looking, Brian called us over.

"What did you find man?" Andy asked as Brian showed off his find with amazement.

"This is the Casio FX-7000G," he exclaimed. "It's the newest brand out there. Larry would lose his shit if he got his hands on one of these."

"How much is it?" I asked.

"$10.32, plus tax," Brian replied.

"I'll cover it," Andy stated as he pulled out his wallet. We went to the front counter and paid for the calculator and afterwards, we headed to Burger King for some lunch.

"So, how's everything been going Luke?" Brian asked as we ate. "You sounded a little tense over the phone." I let out a sigh because I was worried that he was going to ask that at some point.

"Not great, my mom came over," I admitted.

"What did that bitch want?" Andy inquired.

"To cut a deal," I explained. "She'll let me stay with Claire's family if I tell CPS that she was good to my little brother. My mom only wants Dustin, she doesn't give a damn about me."

"Screw her!" Brian exclaimed. "She should be in prison right next to your psycho dad!"

"No such luck," I replied. "Her abuse was never physical, just verbal. Verbal abuse is immoral, but not illegal. That's what old man Standish says anyway."

"Bitch," Andy griped as he downed his Diet Coke.

After we finished our lunch, Andy drove me back to Claire's place. I said bye to him and Brian before going inside where Claire had already returned from whatever she had been doing with Alison.

"I've been waiting for you to get back!" Claire exclaimed as she kissed me on the lips. "I have a surprise for you, close your eyes." I did as I was told and when I opened them a few moments later, I saw that she had bought me a whole new set of art supplies.

"Claire...these are great!" I exclaimed in return as Claire looked pleased with herself.

"Alison and I went shopping and I thought you might like a little pick me up." she replied.

"Thank you Claire, i'm sorry that I stormed off before." I told her. "I was just pissed at my mom and I just didn't want to start yelling at you."

"It's OK," Claire insisted. "Just promise me that you'll talk to me next time and not just storm off."

"I promise."

"Do you really like the art supplies?"

"I love them and I love you," I said as I kissed her deeply. I loved having Claire as my girlfriend. She was so much more thoughtful and caring then she used to be when she was queen of Shermer High School.
