I DO NOT OWN THE BREAKFAST CLUB. THIS WILL BE THE LAST CHAPTER OF THE LUKE HENDERSON SAGA FOR ANYONE WHO STILL CARES ABOUT IT.
McDonough's Restaurant. Thursday. March 24, 1994. Chicago, Illinois.
Luke and Claire Henderson were the first ones to arrive. Luke was rocking a brown leather jacket, a pair of black ripped jeans, and some blue suede shoes. Claire was dressed in a pink dress & cherry red heels. They walked in and the host instantly recognized them.
"Mr. Henderson, it's good to see you again." he said as he greeted the couple.
"I assume that our usual table has been reserved." Claire insisted as the host nodded and led them to a large booth that had table settings for 6 people.
"The usual brunch special?" the host asked as Luke nodded.
"You know it." he replied as he and his wife sat down. They enjoyed their yearly visits to McDonough's because it was fancy, but not too much so.
"So, guess how much my most recent painting brought in?" Luke inquired.
"Let's see...maybe 3 grand?" Claire offered as her husband shook his head.
"11 thousand!" Luke exclaimed as Claire's eyes grew huge.
"Oh my God...how did it go for that much?" she asked in amazement.
"I did have an excellent muse." he said with a shrug as Claire blushed. Luke's art had proven to be in high demand. Many rich people and companies had wanted him to paint all sorts of things, but when he could pain whatever he wanted, he always painted his wife. Claire was only too happy to pose for her husband. He had done dozens of paintings of Claire. He had painted her clothed, in a swimsuit, scantily clad. He had even painted a couple portraits of her naked, but he kept those for himself after Claire made him promise. Despite what the Standishes had thought, Luke was able to provide Claire with a comfortable life and they would be able to raise a family when they wanted to. Before Claire could give Luke a kiss, they saw someone walking over to their table dressed in a fine dress shirt and tie.
"Brian!" Luke exclaimed as the brain made his way over and distributed hugs to the artist and the princess.
"It's so good to see you both." he said with a huge smile as he sat down.
"How are things doing in DC?" Claire inquired as she sipped her juice.
"Amazing, we've been figuring out the math and my superiors think that we can launch an international space station in just 4 years!" Brian exclaimed with glee. After graduating from the All-Illinois science, technology, engineering and mechanics boarding school Brian Johnson had been accepted at Harvard University and had gotten a masters in physics. A few years later, he had gotten a high paying job at NASA, taking care of the mathematics behind space travel.
"That's amazing Brian!" Claire exclaimed in return. She was genuinely happy for her friend and that he was going places.
"I always knew that he was an MVP." Luke replied as he and Brian toasted their drinks. Andrew Clark was the next to arrive. He came over to the table in a hooded sweatshirt and embraced Brian first.
"Good to see you astroman." he teased before getting hugs from Luke and Claire.
"Glad you could come Andy." Claire replied as she kissed him on the cheek.
"I had to race over here, it's so lucky that Vernon decided to let out school early." Andy replied. After his graduation from UIUC, Andrew had decided to become a PE teacher. He got his license and had unexpectedly gotten hired at Shermer High after the last PE teacher quit. Andy was also the coach for the wrestling team, but he had made it a personal point to never push his boys like his old man had pushed him. He also didn't tolerate any bullying jocks on his team and had snuffed it out quick.
"By the way, I heard that Shermer beat Bueller in the state championships." Luke remarked as Andy nodded.
"You bet, Estevez really came through for us in the final round." the coach beamed with pride as he dug into an omelet. The last ones to arrive were of course, the criminal and the basket case; who were always late to everything. John Bender and Allison Reynolds came up with him still in his mechanics outfit which had earned looks of disgust from the staff and her in a beret.
"Why do you always start without us Picasso?" Bender inquired sarcastically.
"Why are you always late Ford?" Luke asked in return before they chucked and embraced each other. Allison embraced Claire and kissed her cheeks before going over to Andy, Brian, and finally Luke.
"I saw your painting of Claire on the chair made you a thousandaire." Alison teased as Luke rolled his eyes.
"It's not my fault that i'm more in demand." Luke chided. After she had graduated from the art institute of Chicago, Allison had followed into Luke's footsteps and had become a professional sculptor and designer. Luke and Allison were having a friendly rivalry in the art scene, but had managed to come together on one project where they had each done a nude portrait of the other. Bender had been OK with it because he always liked seeing her naked, but Claire had been hesitant. She knew that Luke only had the hots for her, but she didn't want rumors flying around. She finally relented when he pointed out that it would piss her parents off something horrible. Luke knew that Claire couldn't resist a chance to stick to her richie family. Bender had also found success in his own way. A few years after he graduated, his uncle had decided to retire and left the shop to Bender who had turned it to the number one garage in Eastern Illinois. He had also proposed to Allison, but after admitting that she never wanted to be married, the 2 had decided to just be engaged forever. Now that the entire Breakfast club was here, they finally sat down to eat. It was a tradition that once a year on the anniversary of their detention, they all got together at McDonough's to have brunch and be together. It was hard for them to see each other due to their own lives, but they always managed to make the yearly brunch. As Luke and Claire looked around the table at their friends sharing stories and laughs, they both knew that even though their lives would never be perfect, the Breakfast Club would never die.
