TRIVIA: what does Howie mean by a kleptomonkiac?
BONUS: my mind is drawing a blank, but there was a TV show that featured a kleptomonkiac. I think I remember what it is, maybe, but let's see if any of you can think of it too!
?-?
"That nice couple from the other day put in an offer." Carla announced as she stared at her phone and walked into the kitchen.
"Oh?" Bob asked, already starting dinner.
She nodded. "It's a good offer, too."
"You going to take it?"
She frowned, looking up from the email. "Isn't there something about not taking the first offer you receive?"
He smiled. "That's about buying a house. Don't make an offer on a house till you've seen at least one other."
"Oh." She quietly replied, staring off into space.
"So are you going to take it?"
"Uh, I, I don't know." She replied.
"You have some time to decide, right?" He asked.
She nodded. "I do."
"Then take that time and think it over."
She nodded. "I think I will do just that."
?-?
Sue spent the entire day studying the cast and crew, hoping she would be able to determine the thief. She wasn't able to. Instead, she learned a little too much about their odd habits. Like the script reader that has to have her pages perfectly squared when she reads otherwise she stutters, or the cameraman that makes his legs and hands a drum set when he's bored. Nothing she learned was going to help them figure out the thief. Apparently she was going to have to wait until that night. Thankfully, the day passed by quickly and it was time to work their magic.
"Alright, we're leaving, see you tomorrow! Bye! We're leaving!" Howie loudly announced, waving at every person they ran into.
"You can tone it down a bit." Sue whispered into his ear. He was being so loud, he looked suspicious. Thankfully, they were at the limo, which was waiting for them in the parking lot, the one side of doors squarely facing the soundstage and in perfect view of everyone looking at them because of Howie's exit. Everyone entered, but as soon as Sue and Howie entered, they exited on the other side and hid in between the cars that were parked, crouching behind them while they watched the limo drive off. Once it was a safe distance away, they snuck through the cars to the back corner of the lot, a place they knew no one would be. Staying there and casually observing the people leaving as they ate sandwiches that they hid there earlier in the day, time passed slowly, but finally it was dark and only a few people remained, all from the movie being filmed on the other soundstage. It seemed like they weren't leaving and it was getting near 10, so they decided to get in place to watch their soundstage.
Within a few minutes of getting in place, the show they came to see started. "Well, whataya know." Howie said in awe at the surprising sight. "A kleptomonkiac!"
?-?
"I think I've made a decision." Carla said the next morning as she and Bob finished breakfast.
"Oh?" Bob replied.
She nodded. "I'm accepting their offer. I'm going to call them this morning."
He smiled at his fiancé. "I'm proud of you. Are you going to tell Sue before or after?"
Her proud look quickly disappeared. "Oh dear. I do have to tell her, don't I?" He nodded. "Somehow it makes it more real if I have to tell her."
Bob reached across the table to put his hand over hers. "All will be well, you'll see."
She slightly smiled. "You're right. There's no time like the present. I'm calling her." She said, reaching across the table to grab her phone.
Bob smiled. "I'm proud of you."
Carla smiled back as she held up the phone to her ear. "Thank you."
?-?
"Well? Jack anticipatedly asked. "Did you figure out who it was?" It was now morning and Hector drove Jack and the kids back to the studio lot.
Sue smiled widely. "More like 'what' it was."
He frowned at his wife. "Huh?"
Just as she was about to answer, her phone rang. "It's my Mom." She said, then answered. "Hi, Mom!"
"Hi, honey, I just wanted to let you know, we found a buyer for the house." Carla said in one breath.
"That's great!" Sue exclaimed when the interpreter interpreted for her. "Perfect timing, huh?"
She slightly smiled, the interpreter conveying the smile apparent in her voice. "Yes, I think it is."
"Well, I have to go. But we all will see you in a few days!"
"Yes you will!" Carla exclaimed happily. "Sunny and Barky miss you!"
"And we miss them! See you soon!" With that, Sue hung up, then turned to her husband. "They sold the house!"
"That's great!" Jack exclaimed. "Now, what about the thief?"
Howie smiled widely. "That will be a bit longer story."
